This Is Why Kneepads Sucks

If you have ever wondered where my hatred of all things People/Kneepads Magazine comes from, this article they published yesterday pretty much sums it up. I'm not sure a magazine could suck up more than they do to one particular person. In this case, they are sucking up to Gwyneth Paltrow but you can pretty much put in any celebrity and they would be happy to run it.

The kissing butt starts from the first sentence. "We like to think of Gwyneth Paltrow as our own personal lifestyle guru. From her bold crop top-wearing skills to her crazy cleanses to those GOOP newsletters (yes, we subscribe!), the actress is everywhere (including in our head as we get ready)."

If they think of her as their lifestyle guru then that explains a lot. Who thinks she is their guru? The article plugs the Goopster's website and then is basically an ad for Restorsea which she plugs. The article doesn't mention the ongoing lawsuit involving the company and its hatching fluid supplier. The article does contain a purported interview with Gwyneth although I'm guessing no one from People actually spoke to Gwyneth and would never dare to ask if they could. This is an ad for a company and for Gwyneth. No one paid actual dollars for it but thhey might as well have. Tell me where the news is in this article. There is none. It is simply a piece designed to make sure that Gwyneth gives the magazine and the company access when they do want to directly pay her money for a non-story or because she let them interview her for a movie she is promoting. The magazine and this Britney Talarico should be embarrassed.

  4. You know it's not Newsweek or Macleans or the New York Times going in though, right? Maybe you just need to manage your expectations better.

  5. In the history of Unfortunate Pictures, that is easily in the top 5.

Goopy's ego became huge when she was the hot young starlet...she's plain in person, and we would all be actors/models if we had rich parents in the industry...what I do like though is that unlike most actresses/models who try to claim they never work out & eat whatever they want, she admits she doesn't eat & works out 3 hours a day

That looks like a bad yearbook pic...she has braces in it, I'd say she looks about 14/15

  8. Enty, you raid their Star Tracks for the random photos every single day. If you hate them so much, stop giving them click$.

  9. How do you know all this Anna Belle? Are you a writer? Director? Assistant? Actress?

You have some great scoop, just wondering about the source.

  11. The lawsuit Enty mentioned is very boring. The supplier gave exclusive rights to Restorsea but has allegedly been selling it to third parties as well, which is breach of contract. The suit also pre-dates GP's signing on as a spokesperson.

In other words, Restorsea brought suit b/c they think they've been wronged and it's really boring business stuff. There would be no reason to get into that in an "article" about GP or her endorsement of it.

Sounds like this post just wanted to bitch about People and the fact that some people still like Goop and that drives Enty nuts.

Must be a slow celeb news day.

  12. I LOVE THAT PHOTO!!!

I don't read People (well except for at the doctor's office. And while in line at the supermarket...) but I'd really like to get my hands on that Vanity Fair article that the Goop submarined. There must have been some dirt in it for her to do handstands and cartwheels to get it squashed.

@Bacon-I work in the industry on the business side, in my 20's, currently working on my MBA (my boss is paying for it) my boss is in the industry & very well connected, live in LA, but currently in NYC on a project. Some of my info is first hand, some from my boss, associates or partners. I have "learned" alot in casting meetings.

who reads that stupid mag anyway......

  21. Enty just wants to keep reminding real people that People has become just a PR shill for all the Hollywood publicists, in case that message isn't getting thru to you.

I liked People when it first came out but then they tried to copy the US Weekly/Entertainment Weekly format and they did not do it better so why bother with the magazine.

Now I don't bother with any of the entertainment magazines except Hollywood Reporter. Can I collect a fee for that plug?

  22. How can this person be a life style guru to people, when her lifestyle may on,y be afforded by less than 1/2 % of the population. And, my guess is that 1/2% doesn't give a rat's Pilates ass about copying an uneducated over privileged movie actress. The other 99.4% of the world likely wouldn't copy her either. If anyone is so inclined to want to be like gwynetth, all they have to do is walk into saks or Barney's with a copy of instyle or vogue it's not original. It's just expensive designer merchandise the fashion industry pretends you need to be current. I have trouble thinking of less important things to do in life or a more shallow pursuit. Where's the meaning? Work in a juvenile detention center, feed hungry, save Animals, pick up garbage, recycle, care about the future and how you treat people. Make the world better by doing something good and worthwhile, not shill overpriced products to insecure women believing that if you could just look like or be like some airbrushed false image you would be happy... What a waste.

  25. I don't give a rats ass about her, but where do I get my hands on some of this beauty elixer? I must have this restorsea or whatever it's called.

  26. 1) anyone who believes Goopy uses this stuff, and this stuff only as her "skin regime" deserves to remain stupid.
    2) the Goopster always will be, always has been a fake asshole.
    3) see above
    4) People sucks at the same level as all of those other rags, they just kiss different asses.

  27. I only read People, Paltrow, then I puked and after my seizure I found myself writing this. Is that Goop's picture from her Academy Award?
Or as the voting members commented, "Give her one so she'll stop making crappy movies! We owe it to her father.)
