Off Topic

As much television as I watch, I can't even keep up with everything that is available on all the different formats. I'm pretty sure there are programs being watched by zero people and no one knows.

  2. Well, judging from the amount of reporting here, it's not a Real Housewives or a Kardashians show.

      That's pretty scary !!!
Lighting is something not to be messed with.
I once was at a State Park Beach in NJ ( IBSP ) & someone was killed by lighting on the beach. Crazy thing was that the storm was almost two miles out. Came out of nowhere.

  14. I binged watched Pretty Little Liars for the last week and I'm finally caught up - that show is incredibly addicting.

Does anyone here watch The Real Housewives of the OC? I need someone to discuss Shannon's drinking with me

Why you no likey Tom Hanks ? Am I missing something ? I've always been under the assumption he's a kind cool & nice guy.

    2. @Rowdy
I can absolute see that. And TBH I've always loved both actors. I lots if fond memories of seeing the 1st Batman with him as a kid. He's totally responsible for my love of Batman. And yes My Life was quite well done but underrated.
That said, my mom & I loved watching goofy & bad Hanks movies like Joe vs. The Volcano & The Money Pit. At the same time though I remember seeing Gump opening weekend before there was any big push to see it. We happened to end up seeing it by accident bc another movie was sold out. It blew our minds away than. I've seen a million times since but absolutely agree his accent is the worst ever. I can't even put my finger on why exactly I love his movies other than the memories he brings up for me.

    3. That's and I was lucky enough to go to his movie premiere for Apollo 13 as a kid at Navy Pier in Chicago. I got to meet Jim Lovel !!! Highlight of my young life.

  18. I heard that they are doing a Clue remake. Can I at least die first before HW completely butchers everything I love? That movie is perfection.

Also I'm pretty happy in hindsight with Hunger Games because it basically killed the US remake of Battle Royale. Even if Collins is an idea-stealing bitch, at least BR won't become a movie about kids at Military school or something.

    3. @HammerGirl sorry I just saw that. Any level of strange really, or not strange works too. I just love talking Japanese culture, history, politics, etc.

    4. Ah, well if you see this I don't delve much into that but I'm big into foreign movies. Especially Asian ones.

  19. @AJ It's more I hate how he gets awards for playing an easy role like Forrest Gump (seriously, all he did was use a funny voice that he thought was an Alabama accent and wins every award) and for being the inaugural "Play a gay character especially one with AIDs and win an OSCAR" guy when someone who is just as good as him and did a few movies that are better than any of the OSCAR winning movies Hanks did, is written off as nothing, that being Michael Keaton. My Life and Clean and Sober (not to mention Batman and Batman Returns) are better than Forrest Gump and Philadelphia.

It's basically the fact that their careers pretty much followed the same trajectory but only Hanks gets any credit as being any good.

  21. God the release of Batman was huge, that was pretty much THE event of people born in the late 70's. I was 13 and won a contest to see it the day before at a private premiere where I lived and a buttload of merch through DC Comics. I got to invite anyone I wanted and had people begging me to invite them. So, I saw it on June 22 and then on the actual premiere date of the 23, I sat in the theater the entire day and watched it over and over until they closed.
I had gotten a copy of the script(signed by the entire main cast) from my uncle a few months before since he was a banker that at the time did some business with Peter Guber, so I knew the movie backwards and forwards before I saw it and amazed people when I was able to do the lines along with the actors lol

  22. @AJ I forgot, check out Keaton's new movie "Birdman". I think it comes out in October but I've been hearing he may finally get recognized for it.

  23. Enlisted Sunday on Fox. It's the last episode of a terrific show, unless it gets an 11th hour reprieve somewhere.

  24. Okay, here are some celebs, past and present I dont like: chris farely, schwarteneggar, any ignorant rapper that goes on bill mahr show and cant put together 2 coherent sentences, allison janey, jenny mccarthy, the three stooges on morning fox show, bradley cooper. He's in a show, im out.

  25. @Rowdy
I think that's really cool & hysterical about your experience at the Batman premiere.
I think I was around 8 when Batman came out bc I was so excited to be able to see an "adult" movie with my parents. I'd also been super excited bc I loved watched the old school batman on TV reruns.
PS Will absolutely check out Keatons new movie. I've always loved his stuff. Mr Mom always makes me laugh when it's on. He's brilliant at comic & serious roles. It's a shame he hasn't had the same accolades as some.

  26. @Rowdy & @AJ: Don't know you'll see this or not.

I swear to Xenu I hadn't read this post until just now. But earlier today, Mr. Bluezz was napping & sleepily asked me what time it was & I said:

"It's 4:34pm. Now it's 4:35pm." (As the clock just changed time.)

Without a pause, he responded "434. 435. Whatever it takes." And went back to sleep! LOL

"221. 222. Whatever it takes." from "Mr. Mom" has been a mainstay response in our 23 years together. We say it more often now that we're getting so forgetful. Ha-ha!

I love Michael Keaton! My parents were older when I came along, so I was damn lucky my Dad shared his love of Buster Keaton with me. He enjoyed Micheal Keaton, too, so MK will always hold a special place in my heart. :-)

  27. Celebs I don't like: Any celeb that is a Republican like that clown Eastwood talking to a chair. Other Repugs: Patricia Heaton, Ahnold, Bruce Willis, Ted Nugent. Ann Colter, you get the message.

Any kid of a celeb trying to be a celeb themselves; anyone to do with the OJ Simpson case, especially the Scheme Team lawyers. All (c)rap "artists", past and present, all country music except for Hank Williams and Johnny Cash (father, not son). Any celeb in Scientology...
