Blind Items Revealed - Old Hollywood

April 4, 2014

During her brief time in the US, this foreign born entertainer was probably B-list with A-list name recognition. In her native country, she was probably A+ list. She was also the inspiration for one of the most iconic advertising characters ever. When she first came over to the US to start a new phase of her career, she brought something else with her: a cocaine habit. After she came to Hollywood for the first time, her drug dealer came with her. Between takes, she would go to her dealer who was waiting nearby her dressing room and she had her daily snorts. The cocaine was definitely a factor in her unexpectedly premature death, because she had an underlying heart condition that even her doctor didn't know about.

  8. Your library probably has a copy. The author collected some old HW gossip &published them.

Because Carmen died young & was from South America the gossip was she was a drug addict.

  10. Courtney, the books were written by Kenneth Anger's.
No idea why his surname appears like this.

  12. Loved Timmy/Shimmy. Found the book related to the blind, amazing story. Loaned it out and it's gone now. Enjoy all the Old HW blinds! Sad about Carmen. I don't remember this from HW Babylon - which makes this blind even better.

  15. Delurking to say...

Take Hollywood Babylon with a grain of salt. It's a LOT of BS sprinkled with few facts. It's a deliciously dirty read...make no mistake. As far as accuracy, it's the National Enquirer of old Hollywood lore.

    Carry on...

As do I. It's more fun to read about real stars than reality show idiots.
Give me Clark Gable and Carole Lombard dish any time.
