This B- list mostly movie actress who is an Academy Award winner/nominee was shopping for clothes this week and there were no dressing rooms available. Our actress was in a hurry so got undressed off to the side of the rooms but in full view of anyone who looked. Our actress, who was without a bra, tried on two or three different tops before leaving the store without buying anything.

She's been nominated for an Oscar and has won numerous other awards - that was left out of the blind! She's a terrific actress.

Sally Hawkins has starred in 45 projects but I did not recognize her even after a thorough Google investigation. However, I do know now that Sally exists and that she should not be confused with the dance event, Sadie Hawkins. And for that, we thank you!
ReplyDeleteAs a fan of British cinema and British TV, I am lucky that Canadian TV carries a lot of British TV and movies, I did know who Sally Hawkins is. But certainly would have never guess this blind without at least a foreign born hint. She is the quintessential character actress.
ReplyDeleteEuropeans are much more accepting of naked breasts. I saw MANY topless women last summer at several different beaches. There were even completely nude men (no, I wasn't at any nudist beaches). No one missed a beat or seemed to blink an eye.

DeleteI saw Sally Hawkins in Happy Go Lucky and her character infuriated me so much I just can't watch her in anything else.
ReplyDeleteShe was so lovely in Blue Jasmine! I remember she was on worst dressed lists for the Oscars but she just looked cute, sweet and unique because she obviously didn't use a stylist. I like her a lot and she's a very good actress.
ReplyDeleteReally Jessie? I loved that movie and it was one of the first times I saw her. I thought she was incredible. Then I would see her in older movies but hadn't noticed her until then.
ReplyDeleteFTR she is scary skinny. One movie, can't remember, her shoulder bones were showing. Made me scared for her that she may be ana.
@Sherry, I agree about Happy Go Lucky 100%. Watching her TRY to learn to drive was flat out hysterical. Her teacher, on the other hand, made me furious. If that was acting , and he is not an insane, racist, sexist, misanthropic sociopath....than he deserved the Academy Award.

ReplyDeleteOMG I just googled her and recognized her instantly. I will always think of her role in a BBC production of a Jane Austen book "Persuasion." The final kiss in that film is the worst screen kiss I have EVER seen.
ReplyDeletestarting at :37, it takes them a full 30 seconds to lock lips, with her mouth spasming like some guppy out of water the whole time, and to make it even worse there's a little bit of saliva visible.
She was so unlikeable in that film, horribly miscast. And the guy was so YUMMY.
