Today's Blind Items - Back On Drugs

Over the past year, this long time singing legend who is a permanent A lister has slowly been sinking back into drugs and booze. Feeling older, the long time sober star started off with the odd glass of wine here or there which turned to more wine. He started to gain weight and injured his knee and got some medications and started taking those and combining them with the wine and then put on even more weight so he started taking Adderall and when that didn't make him lose weight he started using coke again. He needs rehab and in a big way, but his ego makes him think he can manage it on his own and that he is fine.

  5. blind too vague though
    someone check the DM! lol

  6. Whoever he is, I hope someone hooks me up.

  7. Jon Bon Jovi had knee surgery in 2011, and has said his daughter convinced him to get sober. Latest pics don't have him looking booze or coke bloated, though.

    1. The surgery & sober bits fit JBJ, but I don't recall every seeing him particularly overweight. Hope it's not him.

  8. Paul McCartney was in the DM but I dunno..

  9. Rocker Jon Bon Jovi sat down in London with "Extra" special correspondent Laura Whitmore to talk about the band's mega world tour, Richie's return to the stage, his upcoming knee surgery, and Tom Cruise in "Rock

  10. Billy Joel has not had long stretches of sobriety.

  11. dammit Seven cant I post anything first around here lol--- will flutter #likeabutterfly back to my Mimi blinds then...

  12. I don't think Billy Joel has ever been sober. We saw him in concert about five years ago in Tampa, when he was still touring with Elton (before EJ cancelled their tour together). They did a duet of "Crocodile Rock", and BJ forgot the entire verse he was supposed to sing. EJ gave him such a death look, and then he jumped in and finished. BJ also forgot the lyrics to part of "Piano Man." It was a great show, don't get me wrong, but it was just a few weeks after we saw them that EJ announced the cancellation of the tour.

Going with Jon Bon Jovi on this one.

  13. LOL @ Derek!

Definitely supposed to be JBJ. This is from 2010, so the "back on drugs" fits.

Jon Bon Jovi: 'I'm overweight. Drinking too much. Bored to tears'

Jon Bon Jovi admits he has seen better days. But after a quarter century of nonstop hits, tours and large-haired sexiness, what do you do for an encore? We catch up with the 48-year-old rock god in Brazil and find he may be dreaming of a political career

    ReplyDelete
  14. even I know the lyrics to Piano Man and I am not a fan of his or the song...

    ReplyDelete
  15. Weiland for the drug history
    Gene Simmons for the ego

    ReplyDelete
  16. @Lady H--Weiland is as sober as I am soft spoken

    ReplyDelete
  17. I don't think JBJ is singing legend status though...

    ReplyDelete
  18. If it's JBJ, he's not being a good roll model for his daughter. She od'd on heroin at college and he said he was shocked she was doing drugs.

It's not Sir McCartney. I just saw him in concert and he looks great. He's 72 and had the stamina of a 30 year old.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I like the Jon Bon Jovi guess!

    ReplyDelete
  20. @Tricia--not in my books! he is very cheesy but the people seem to love him--

    ReplyDelete
  21. Is Weiland considered a longtime legend? I'm not good at ratings and descriptions, and hardly ever agree with Enty on these. I saw Weiland years ago, a few weeks after he was out of rehab. He seemed higher than a kite on stage.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Wayne Newton is perm A. George Michael is a likely candidate but not perm A IMHO.

That said, if douchey Robin Thicke is A......

    Derek, A+++++++++++ FOREVER.

    ReplyDelete
  23. if it was jbj or tyler or weiland wouldn't it say rocker not singer though?? just asking..

    ReplyDelete
  24. Yeah...maybe Springsteen (this isn't him thou) is legendary as a singer at this point. Maybe enty throws that word around...but it should really only apply to a select few(Tony Bennett/Elton/Paul etc)...based on age, body of work and such..oh wells...

    ReplyDelete
  25. And Joel is a legend mos def

    ReplyDelete
  26. that's right Guids

    ReplyDelete
  27. Bryan Ferry! lol---is he "a legend"? many people don't know of him surprisingly

  29. ^takie it back!! Lol(my dream man)
Also I get the vibe from blind the guys ego is legendary as well...which EJ is known to have. I've only heard great things about BOn jovi.....and BJ....he may have an ego on him too

    ReplyDelete
  30. Not sure why, but my first thought was Bowie.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Bowtie is a great guess...definitely a legend

  31. mick jagger.. after the death of l'wrenn maybe it hit him hard

    ReplyDelete
  32. I don't know about Billy Joel being the answer. I just saw him perform and he was on fire. I have seen him when he was clearly a mess as well, but right now he seems clear-headed.

I like the Steven Tyler guess. But, again one of my students saw him perform this summer and she said he was amazing.

    What about Mick Jagger?

    ReplyDelete
  33. Yeah. I guess Mick Jagger is a bit of a stick figure. LOL.

I don't think it's JBJ. I've never heard of an attitude prob. Allegedly, he's an all-around nice guy. And has he ever had a drug problem? I'm sure he partied back in the day, but I just don't think this is him.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Mick Jagger never had a real drug or alcohol problem though.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Boy George? Culture Club is playing in New York, I wish I could go see them.
    :(

    1. Boy George does look extra puffy lately..

  36. This says singing legend not rock legend, so I'm thinking more Tony Bennet even tho I'm sure it's not him. But someone who is known for their voice.

    1. Gagme would drive anybody back off the wagon. She completely hijacked His album and I remember he had quite the cocaine problem back in the day.. and he is considered a crooner too.

    2. Oh didn't know he had a coke problem. Still, he doesn't seem to be an egomaniac but instead very centered. Hope it's not him

  37. What exactly is adderall ? I have seen a few blinds on here before where it was mentioned but I'm curious about what is it taken for?

    ReplyDelete
  38. it's Sweet Caroline's
    NEIL DIAMOND!!!

    Hi CDaNers missing you guys!!!

    ReplyDelete
  39. So many to choose from, my first though was indeed Boy George, but is he really a legend? That's questionable. I'll stick with that choice though.

  40. Hi Rolo
@Fedway--it is a pill created for people (mostly kids) with ADHD but has similar effects of meth but less taboo and legal (if you have a prescription)

    ReplyDelete
  41. Hey rolo.....!
    What what a guess!!

    ReplyDelete
  42. I'll go for Elton John, because of the singing legend thing, long time sober and had surgery although it was mentioned that it was for his appendix.

    ReplyDelete
  43. -Hi Derek !!! I want details on the results of the Derma Wand!!
-Hi Tricia!!!-I'm amazed that you could be in a pumpkin patch w/100s of kids & still come in Frist w/winning answers.( im catching up on alotta back BIs!

    ReplyDelete
  44. @Fedway. I'll add something to Derek's good explanation.
For those who are diagnosed (correctly) for ADD / ADHD the drug has a calming effect in that it helps them to focus.
People illegally use it as colkege students get high and cram and others say people use it to suppress appetite / lose weight.
    For some it Amps them
Up. For others, who have ADD, we can't hardly sleep at night without it.
I've taken it for most of my adult life. I have an appetite. (My history posts prove this.). I have never said anything about this drug before, but as someone who used to suffer a lot! sometimes I wish people knew it actually helps people like me and it's bad / BS.

    3. Derek and Sincerely, my old friend got heavily into the stuff. I don't think it was a legal RX (it's easy to lie). She turned into a different person- untrustworthy and bottom of the barrel. I think it was recreationally used with alcohol to stay up and party while going on gambling sprees. She went thousands of dollars into debt, lived on people's sofas, started dealing other drugs to pay for her "medication". I didn't know her any more and kicked her to the curb after she stole money from me.

  45. Mellencamp even though I dont know if he'd be considered permanent a lister...

Or lead singer for aerosmith...forgetting his name.

    ReplyDelete
  46. @rolo....ha thx...I don't think I did that day , but I tried...and I highly recommend pumpkin patches with a zillion people.......if you are a masochist lol!!

    ReplyDelete
  47. @Trish, I know, but to even to be on CDaN was a feat & I was cracking up reading it. BTW,
Neil Diamond's totally wrong I just wanted to assert something loudly..

    ReplyDelete
  48. SYF - longtime lurker here, thank you for saying that!!! I've been on it for years but it's so stigmatized I never tell people. but it really changed my life for the better.

  49. Goodbye yellow brick road...

    ReplyDelete
  50. Elton John would be a hoot.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Tony Bennett. Singing legend and permanent A lister. Works a lot, and with much younger stars. His son is his manager and wants him to be cool to appeal to young people. Bad coke habit in the past. Has come out in favor of legalization of drugs.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Steven Tyler has been looking puffy lately

    ReplyDelete
  53. @rolo...you don't even know......tales from the Pumpkin patch one day.....

    ReplyDelete
  54. He's a legend and permanently A list but Tony Bennett is a huge pothead, never quit it, and he's been fat for a lot of years. He enjoys his life and is not stressed out the way this blind indicates. I don't think it's Bennett.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I don't think it's Tony either. Looks the same.

As for adderall and Ritalin I think add and ADHD is way over dxed especially for the young ones and horribly over prescribed and makes me very angry BUT for those who truly have it it's wonderful.

    ReplyDelete
  56. While he's not known for his singing (which he has done on most of his solo stuff and a few albums when he was part of a band) but what about Ace Frehley?

He's been sober since about 2000 and he had gained a lot of weight since the reunion tour with KISS and probably wanted to look like the Ace everyone remembers when he goes on tour for Space Invader (A great album btw, should've at least gotten a mention in the rock category for the AMA's since they didn't nominate a single rock act)

He also has a bit of an ego, I mean you can't be around Gene Simmons that long without learning how to get one.

    ReplyDelete
  57. As usual, I have no good guess. I CAN attest that Sir Paul and Billy Joel are both sharp as tacks onstage, having seen Sir Paul in fall 2012 (recent enough, I think) and Billy this past April. I don't think it's them.

And I had no clue that Tony Bennett was a pothead or a coke user. No clue. Saw him about 18 years ago and he put on a hell of a show, too.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Mellancamp is a good guess. Meg left him for his drinking, maybe there were dugs there too.

    ReplyDelete
  59. It didn't say anything about lead singer. Im going with Elton john

    ReplyDelete
  60. This is totally Elton... He could put on a few pounds before anyone would notice, and he is definitely a legend and a permanent A-lister.

    ReplyDelete
  61. elton and his 2 new sons could have put him over the edge

    ReplyDelete
  62. Don't know if anyone's pointed this out yet, but JBJ does NOT do drugs. He's a huge drinker (or was, I guess), but he was always pissy about the other guys in the band doing drugs of any sort.

    ReplyDelete
  63. syf and o-o what prsx strength of adderall do you take??

    ReplyDelete
  64. Going with Steven Tyler on this one. Think that the "getting older" hint at the intro to "Dream On" and he's rumored to have had knee replacement surgery last year.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Re: adderall. I have a tiny prescription for the similar med Dexedrine. If I take two instead of just one I get sleepy. College students & truck drivers use it for mental alertness, it's basically speed. I react similarly to coffee, it calms me. The med suppresses my appetite but as soon as it wears off I eat everything. I think when Hollywooders start to get hungry they just take more adderall. I don't have that discipline, hell I don't even bother to take it much even though it helps my more boring work tremendously. I like to know when I'm bored out of my skull and medicated I just keep going without my own head to distract me.

  66. Billy Idol? Bob Geldof? Jon Bon Jovi?

    ReplyDelete
  67. It's not Slow Hand is it? But he's a famous guitarist as much as singer. I don't think BJ ever stopped drinking so not him. I thought Toxic Twins were both off the wagon, but it may well be. Tyler. Robert Plant? Bowie?
