Blind Items Revealed #8 - Old Hollywood - Mr. X

July 8, 2015

What multiple Grammy winning songwriter and performer once filled in for an ailing singer on a duet which she and her husband wrote? It’s a song that has been heard countless times in movies, TV shows and commercials and has been remade several times. The record label was so impressed with the charade that when they found out the ailing singer wasn’t getting any better, they had her fill in again for the singer… for an entire album of duets.

Valerie Simpson of Ashford and Simpson/Tammi Terrell/song: "You're All I Need to Get By" with Marvin Gaye

I guess it depends on what story you believe Marvin's or Valerie's. Marvin wrote it was Valerie in his biography, Valerie said Tammi was able to do it after she did it first as a guide track. If she was sick and weak with cancer, I don't see how she could do it.

No secret. Everyone at Hitsville knew Val was covering for Tammi.

What I hope gets revealed some day is who was the male singer who administered the severe beatings to Tammi?
