I saw him perform live twice, and both times he was terrific. But he was a terrible person, no doubt about it.
I think being raised during jim crow during his childhood and having an abusive family might explain his damage. Horrible person, genuine legend when it come to C20th art. Walt disney was a creep, his addition to world art is indisputable.
