Today's Blind Items - They Walk Right In

Back in the day, this person was a big celebrity.  A foreign born singer. They even almost made the top 20 with several songs. Have you heard of them? Probably not just off the top of your head, but you have probably heard her story. She was raped and molested beginning from a very young age. Her parents enabled it and she was offered up to various much much older celebrities long before she was even in her mid teens. There was the one time she had sex with an entire A+ list band one night because the band paid her parents some money. She says it was only about $250, but her parents said it was enough.

This kind of thing is bound to make anyone messed up and she is no exception. The thing is though, she now drags teens the same age she was into the same kind of situation. She actually works with young teens. Specifically she works with young female teens from very strict religious families. Very strict religious families. They send their daughters to our former celebrity when the daughters have issues at home or school or look like they could be headed down a path of wickedness. I have always wanted to use that word in a sentence. This I think is the first time. Anyway, this former celebrity who was A list in her own country and a couple of others at one point spends time interviewing the young teens. They all come to her. They all have issues and our former celebrity identifies which ones would be willing to have sex with older men. Most of the older men are elders of various churches that participate in this program. Some are pastors of the various churches. We are not talking about huge numbers here. Maybe a dozen or so teens a year that are forced to go through "extra counseling," and the parents are so blinded by their trust and faith in these religious leaders that they bring their young daughters to the home or office where their daughters are going to get molested or raped. When there are pregnancies, they are aborted and the parents never told. It is just one messed up cycle of abuse.

  10. @Sandybrook I really like that answer. Foreign born. She fronted Garbage and given the blind mentions "them" Its obvious the women involved has been in a group. They were relatively worldwide but much more in the uk. She had a rough childhood from what Ive read before although never remember rape etc....She works a lot with charities too. Only other one I can think of is Annie Lennox

  11. Joss'f***ing for tracks' stone sounds like a good guess. Stage parents and reality tv star. Didn't she have a stalker problem as well?

    ReplyDelete
  12. yep and Joss charged her 25yr old boyfriend of statutory rape when she was a teenager.

  13. Thanks filmfan it's really just a complete shot in the dark.

  14. Just to be different, are there any foreign-born country stars out there that fit this blind? I don’t know much about country music, but if there’s any genre that would be associated with a religious fan base, it’s country.

  15. The Blind specifically says that we have probably heard her story, which means it is out in the public. The guesses so far are not backed up by sources. A quick search on the internet, people.

    1. Yes, so far I'd say Sam Fox is thr best guess. Whose sstor do wewall knok who had almost top 20 hits?

  16. Joss could work. Was in a band with Jagger called Superheavy....A+ could be Rolling Stones . Something about the wording "back in the day" though makes me thing of someone older.

    ReplyDelete
  17. My gut says someone older, in the vein of Marianne Faithful

  18. Ugh. Foreign born, offered up to multiple celebrities from a young age. Sold to a band for $250.
So unless in London, family was probably a transplant to LA or New York. Way back in the day for $250 to even be an option unless her parents offered discounted rates to musicians.

I'm changing my opinion from Shirley Manson to Siouxsie Sue, reading her Wikipedia she was molested when she was nine and seemed to have a very hard life as a youngster

  20. Just had a look I think its Siouxsie Sue. Big enough in their day. Especially England. She was a big name too. She was abused. Just not sure what she has been up to these days. A+ band , still sticking to the stones.

    EDIT:Sandybrook I love and hate you :P :P :P

  21. Off topic -

Anyone know how to report this prabath entity spamming the boards now?

Allegedly, I have him blocked. Not so, apparently, since he keeps showing up.

  22. I'm going to look for a kitten chaser on the internet after reading this post. While I appreciate Enty exposing the heinous acts of these types of people, all I want to do is sharpen the ends of the nearest pitchfork, light a torch and find out where they live since apparently law enforcement can't or won't do its job.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I get the impression that this person already had a singing career as a young teenager.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Siouxsie Sue sure fits this description but the A list band would most likely be The Sex Pistols , not the Stones. SS was a Pistols groupie BITD.

    ReplyDelete

    1. She was a contemporary of the Pistols, not a young teen

  25. Doesn't have to be English. From the Caribbean? In the Caribbean, $250 goes a lot further than in the UK.

  30. Siouxsie Sioux, not 'Sue'.

But I don't think it's her because of the religion aspect to the story.

    ReplyDelete
  31. It's not Siouxsie Sioux. I'm a fan of hers and I've never heard that she was sold by her parents, etc.

    ReplyDelete
  32. The so called religious people are EVIL and NUTS. Run away from all them.

  33. Fuck spelchek I just saw that, I had Sioux 😣

  34. Blind says "They Walk Right In".

"Walk Right In" was an international hit (a cover they did), by the Rooftop Singers.

The group's original female vocalist died in 1982, but her replacement was a Mindy Stuart.

I can't find anything about her. She'd be old now, but could still be alive.

A LOT of other groups (at least a dozen) have covered the song more recently. Maybe the female vocalist in of those?

  35. Also considering Shirley Manson just called out stupid Morrissey for defending Kevin Spacey and Weinberg, I severely doubt this is her.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Good. Because I like Garbage and who the fuck would defend Kevin Spacey.

  36. Walk Right In has been used here and there for church related outreach, which sort of makes sense. I don't see anything with a celeb involved though.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I hope not Siouxsie Sioux! She spends most of her time now talking about her cats. And Cities in Dust is about Pompei...so a volcano, not pedos.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Shirley Manson's career is still very much active, and this blind sounds more like someone who is no longer in the business.

We have heard her story, but might not know her. That to me says she was maybe immortalized (in song or otherwise) by someone else. Maybe with the name changed.
OR it was a woman who performed under a stage name And now lives more anonymously. Maybe her singing career was a side gig and she is known for other things.
Like was suggested, perhaps a Marianne Faithfull type muse.

  39. Helen Shapiro was huge in the 60s. Her first hit was at age 14, called Don’t Treat Me Like a Child (hmmm) and she was suppprted on tour by the Veatles of all people (A listers without question). She fizzled out of popularity with a few years and did some other stuff. Her Wiki entry links to her website which is full-on religious outreach. One of her B sides is called “I Walked Right In”. I can’t find any info relating to abuse, though.

  40. Beatles, obviously (damn my phone).

  41. After reading this I immediately thought Samantha Fox. I remember reading her mom sent photos of her in lingerie to a paper when she was 16, in which she soon posed topless for the publication. Did I mention she was 16! She is also a born again Christian. I can't find anything about her being molested though so I might be off track.

  42. I think this is Mandy Smith. In a relationship with Bill Wyman at 13, and later married him, was a pop singer, now heavily involved with the Catholic church.
    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mandy_Smith
Although Helen Shapiro sounds good too, I'll look into that.

  43. I hate organized religion, and the people who fall for it.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Samantha Fox had top 10 hits, so not her, although she definitely fits for the "gross stage mom" category.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Walk Right In was released in 1930 and has been covered by multiple artists. None of the artists struck me.

    https://secondhandsongs.com/work/31938/versions

I have a feeling this is one of those blinds we should have been able to guess in hindsight.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Helen Shapiro is a really great guess. The only hitch is that I didn't see any stories of childhood abuse, although she was certainly thrust into stardom at a very young age, and we all know how that goes.

But she's certainly very religious now; she became a Jew for Jesus and is very active in that world, apparently.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Pretty sure it's Mandy Smith. Definitely don't think it's Shirley Manson since she's an atheist with no current ties to any church.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Probably not Helen Reddy.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Omg NOPE! not Helen Reddy, it can't be because I love her. She's more of a soul-progression believer not organized religion.

  49. I don't think this is Mandy Smith, based on this: "They even almost made the top 20 with several songs."

    ReplyDelete
  50. Joss Stone.

Guessed it just a few lines into the blind. Big CELEBRITY (reality tv), then adds she was a singer. You haven't heard of any of her songs, but know her story.

Joss is currently traveling with other young women now, and doing some kind of charity work.

Definitely NOT Shirley Manson. She is still solid A and actively working and huge supporter of women's rights.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Doesn't the singer have to be part of a band, enty says them several times?

    ReplyDelete
  52. I don't know Joss Stone's story. I've heard of her of course but she doesn't seem to have been molested. I still think we haven't gotten this.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Old article from daily mail seems to confirm Mandy Smith.
    Talks about mentoring catholic girls.
    www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-1265407/Former-wildchild-Mandy-Smith-finds-religion-swaps-clubbing-communion.html
She fits because being a singer wasn’t her path to fame, group “almost” had some top 20s...in various countries. She was famous for being teen lover of Wyman and it was BIG news.

  55. Seems like this is a country act.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Catholic Mandy would account for the low numbers of girls. She'd get more business if she specialized in boys, the hideous hag (whoever she is, of course.)

    ReplyDelete
  57. I don't think it's Joss Stone either. Too young, her music is known somewhat and she has had some success. However, I haven't seen anything supporting Mandy Smith or Helen Shapiro being abused to the degree of this blind. Perhaps I just haven't found it yet.

    ReplyDelete
  58. How about Gloria Trevi? There was a big scandal about her and her manager abusing girls about a decade ago.

    ReplyDelete
  59. I hate to say it, but the Gloria Trevi thing was more like 20 years ago. Given that she actually went to jail over it, would religious people send her their daughters? Sounds crazy.

    ReplyDelete
  60. My guess is Brazilian singer/TV host Xuxa.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Like the Stone guess. In no world is this plausibly Annie Lennox.

  66. Throwing a few things out there:
    1) Sixties Brit singer Sandie Shaw now runs a "show business psychiatric practice."
    2) Petula Clarke got into the business VERY YOUNG, and her father had wanted to be an actor. Read: Probably pushy parents.
    3) I don't think Marianne Faithful is off the table. Although I can't find anything about sexual abuse, she did have that incident with the drug bust and Mick Jagger.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Clarification please: is the first paragraph stating that the abused girl was later the lead singer of a band that nearly had top 20 hits?

    ReplyDelete
  68. I highly doubt it's Siouxsie or Shirley as they are both the kind of women who would nut punch dudes for taking advantage of girls. I have heard rumors that Shirley did some escort work back in the day. Shirleys dad is also a scientist or something that worked on the cloned sheep DOlly. Siouxsies dad either left her family or died while she was young.

  71. Karina yapor was raped by the "Andrade clan" which was a very music group which included Gloria Trevi who was accused of sex trafficking and later found not guilty by a Brazilian court. Trevi now is very catholic posting about church on twitter and her husband is a Scientologist, so connections to different churches fits.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Don't talk about my Shirley! lol
I agree that she would probably kick some guy's ass if she thought they were inappropriate with a girl.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Yeah, I can't find anything anywhere about rumours/scandal/abuse relating to Helen Shapiro. Some of the clues do seem to fit her but not the abuse, and that's clearly a big one.

Re: Mandy Smith. At first I thought no. The blind mentioned her parents, however her mum was a single parent and she was never an A list singer, but the blind doesn;t say that, only that she had a few singles, which she did. Mandy's mum did not seem to parent her that well as she was out drinking and dancing as a teen, she also sanctioned Mandy's relationship with Bill and she herself ended up dating Bill's son. I never knew that Mandy went with other celebrities, also - but that may have been excluded from her story. Mandy had a couple of chart singles after she became known for her relationship with Bill. It also fits with the church work she does. But then, the Joss guess sounds likely, also. And "Walk Right In" points to Shapiro. So, I am stumped.
