Blind Item #14

I was talking to a new friend who has been in and around music his entire life and it reminded me of a story. Back in the day at this benefit concert, there were these two actors. At the time, one was an A+ list television actor who was known all over the world from a hit show. Also there and about a decade or more younger I think was this A list mostly movie actor who was still a teen or close to it. Anyway, they both struck out and missed with this entire group of women from Playboy. Who did the Playboy women want to be with? This goofy looking country singer who was a 30 year old overnight success and is still goofy looking but has lost all his hair too. He is so good when he gets a chance at acting roles. The actors at this festival just couldn't believe they had been turned down because it so rarely happened.

  1. I’m going with Dwight Yoakum. He has been in many things acting wise and he is really good.

  2. Lyle lovitt fits this because he signed a record deal when he was 29 and Live Aid fits the concert too. But he still has hair.

  3. Has Lyle Lovett lost his hair?
When you say "goofy looking country singer" that's who comes to mind.

    Or Dwight Yoakham maybe...

  4. Dwight Yoakum. Great character actor. He killed it in Logan Lucky last year.

He is a fantastic actor. He oozes menace when he plays heavies. Great voice too.

  5. One of the friends guy for the TV actor-probably LeBlanc?

  6. Yoakum must have had something to lure Sharon Stone into a relationship, as brief as it was.

    1. I loved that she called him a “shit sandwich”

    2. I think she said he was as boring as a dirt sandwich... it was pretty harsh lol

  7. Yoakam, because he's a much better actor than Lovett.

  8. I was thinking Don Johnson for the dude who got turned down

  9. I’d love to say Chris Isaak - he was naturally comedic when he guest-starred on Friends, and Wicked Game is one of the sexiest songs evaaaah. But I see he still has all his hair, so...

  10. @Nutty,
Yoakam wears his jeans so tight, you csn tell what he's hot.
But remember, Lovett got Julia Roberts, so maybe he had something too.

I thought they were both hot. Idk. I like weird.

  11. Is the new friend who has been in/around music his entire life either Sean Lennon or Dhani Harrison? Just curious.

  12. Hard to believe it is Dwight Yoakum. When he and Sharon Stone broke up I remember an interview she gave saying he was boring and that "A dirt sandwich is better than Dwight Yoakum". or something like that.

  13. Dwight Yoakam for sure. His debut Guitars, Cadillacs album was awesome, and his hair is gone. I think he looks better wearing a cowboy hat anyway.

  14. Yoakam. So unlikable (and good) in Sling Blade.

  15. Dwight Yoakam was just about 30, and a rising star, when he played Farm Aid in 1986.
Maybe from that we can figure out the actors. Someone late teensish, someone late 20sish.
I'll go with Charlie Sheen for the younger.

  16. Well, I'm not sure if it's his "original" hair/mullet these days but I'm voting Billy Ray Cyrus.

  17. Dwight Yoakum, almost positive, fits the description. Got big in the early 90s. Going to say this took place around 1992 or 1993. Because of that, for the actors, might be David Hasselhoff, Baywatch was one of the most popular shows Internationally at the time, Hasselhoff is known the world over; ie singing, acting, A+ for the period. The younger actor is prob Leonardo DiCaprio, would've been 18-19 around that time, just starting his movie career. "Mostly movie actor', because he was also on Growing Pains for a year.

    1. I didn't know Leo was in "Growing Pains"? My mother loved that show. LOL. Thanks for mentioning that.

  18. The country singer is Yoakum. Wasnt he the POS boyfriend of Carl's mom in Slingblade?

  19. I don't know, but it was fun looking up country stars who went bald. So many "why they wear hats" gifs I never knew existed

  20. yeah, yoakum for sure. he's a shockingly good actor. i never saw whatever it is he's got but he definitely has a way with women.

  22. I would take boring over insane any day.

I would take boring over pedo any day.

I wonder if Sharon thinks of Dwight as the one that got away.

    1. TW, I don't mind Enty posting pedo blind items because they are necessary to expose. What I can't stand is commenters trying to make innocent kindness blind items into pedo blinds. It makes me sick.

    2. @ Scandi Sanskrit - I don't think I understand. I think you are saying you are happy to read a blind about a boring person. I hope I understand.

Sometimes people are exciting because they are crazy. As a woman I can say security is of utmost important. If a man cannot make you feel secure you will have a difficult time loving and respecting him, mainly because he cannot provide love and respect to anyone.

  23. @YummyBoogers, yes. And he was excellent!

  24. First post here. Dwight Yoakam, goofy looking? I don't think so. Garth Brooks, definitely goofy looking.

Thing is, both hit it big at 30, and both are balding. So it could be either one of them depending on the way you define goofy looking.

  25. Dwight Yoakam, Live Aid 1985? Bill Cosby or David Hasslehoff...teenage actor would be early 50s now.....

    ReplyDelete
  26. Yoakum was really good in Minus Man, too, playing a cop (possibly in the fantasies of the main character.) Dwight has no hesitation in looking menacing and ugly for a role. He's been amazing in anything he acted in.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Josh Brolin for the teenage actor, Goonies was huge that year.

    ReplyDelete
  28. jujub took my whole answer. Yoakum played Farm Aid regularly from the early 80s through today.

    ReplyDelete
  29. @jujub
Hasselhoff is a fair guess, but it would be Knight Rider era, not Baywatch.

Also, NOT Live Aid. Dwight is more of a Farm Aid kinda guy. And I just don't see Hef sending the Playmates off to the UK. Texas is more their speed.

And the younger actor might also be Matthew Broderick.

  30. Farm Aid II 1986

    Dwight Yoakam
    Don Johnson
    Rob Lowe

Now I see why it was so surprising!

  31. "Benefit concert from back in the day" makes me think of The Concert For Bangladesh, if only because of all the Harrison speculation from earlier.

    1. No, it makes me think of the AIDS epidemic in the '80s (back when it was a death sentence).

  32. Farm Aid in Manor Texas 1986

Playboy girls were there same block of time as Dwight Yoakam.

    Notable actors making an appearance:

    Don Johnson
    Rob Lowe
    Robert Guillaume
    David Soul
    John Schneider
    Jack Wagner

I like Don Johnson and Rob Lowe

  33. I'll co-sign Yoakum because I don't know too many country singers, but I know Yoakum, mostly because of his acting, and he really is a very good actor.

  34. Dwight Yoakum was in the lineup at Farm Aid VI in 1993. He was 37 and reaching the peak of his success, 'This Time' was just released, containing some of his biggest hits. Dwight was never in Farm Aid in 1986. Check the lineup. Although, he would be 30 at the time, and just released his first album. He could've been there backstage. But thinking it would be more in the 1993 when he performed there.

    ReplyDelete
  35. jujub- he was there in 1986. There are youtube videos of the performance as well.

See the 1p to 4p slot on this one page lineup list:
    http://stillisstillmoving.com/willienelson/farm-aid-ii-all-star-lineup-1986/

Don Johnson and Rob Lowe are also on there, as well as the Playboy Girls of Rock n Roll.

  36. Dwight - great actor, can be charming, and bald as a cue ball. No touching the hat!
