This very smart A list runway model not named Karlie Kloss says that this A list singer who doesn't usually sing in English tried to sexually assault her several years ago when she was first starting out. I will have to check the timeline, but I think he was still married then too.

On one hand she made the best decision but on the other she may have been the one to find the cure for HIV/AIDS. I choose to believe she made the best decision.

ReplyDelete@longtimereader, David Graeber once told Charlie Rose that at Yale, where Graeber had taught for a while, there were two groups of students: one group consisted of highly intelligent, motivated, ambitious people who did extremely well in school, and the other consisted of students who were "kinda dumb", as he put it, who didn't do very well. Typically, less than ten years after graduating, the members of the first group were working for the members of the second group.

DeleteThe first guy who was my direct boss at my first job was a Harvard grad and he's legit smart, though (good at critical thinking, knew if I mistranslated something as an interpreter even when he didn't speak the language just by auditory pattern-recognition, etc—I have so much respect in him).
DeleteThat being said, I wouldn't trust someone from the country I currently live in (a developing country in Asia) if they attended an Ivy League school because it makes me think affirmative action (don't ask me how I know how applicants exploit this).

ReplyDeleteAbout elite colleges: I tried to read I Am Charlotte Simmons by Tom Wolfe, but bailed out halfway through because it was too depressing. Then I sought out online opinions, assuming people would say he exaggerated. They said if anything he downplayed it. I already had a poor opinion of academia, but it turned out it could go lower.
ReplyDelete@Cail Corishev - Tom Wolfe is one of my favorite writers, and IACS is a good read - though the subject matter and conclusion is depressing. The school is supposed to be based on Duke and UNC Chapel Hill, but it could be any elite / powerhouse college's sports program.

Joan is ever pictured next to Karlie in this "smart models" article in Vogue magazine. So they are considered on the same level of intelligence.

You probably don't recognize Joan's name, but you will likely recognize her face. She is absolutely A list model and one of the few with a college degree. She is a peer of Karlie Kloss.
She and Marc Anthony are both Puerto Ricans in the limelight. Wouldn't be surprised if their paths crossed. As for him assaulting her, I wouldn't be surprised. In an interview with JLo right before their divorce, the interviewer noted he walks around the house with a beer can permanently attached to his hand. He comes across like an alcoholic womanizer. All of his ex's are Latina models, actresses, or pageant queens.

She was "starting out' in 2010. So if it's him, he attempted to assault her right in the middle-ish of his marriage to JLo. She walked Victoria Secret runway from 2011-2016. By 2014, she was on the cover of Elle magazine entitled "Return of the Supermodels." So if it's him, he did this right in the middle of his marriage to JLo. Again, not surprised, because JLo alluded that he was abusive.
