It turns out this former A+ list mostly movie actor who dropped off the face of the earth when he started loving buffets more than acting somehow recently got a gig and got to cast the second lead female. You think he has reformed? Nope. He made this foreign born B+ list mostly movie actress hit the casting couch with him for an entire weekend.

I'm a supporter of the MeToo movement when it involves acts of forced and unwarranted violation of men and women. But this casting couch shit is just...prostitution. have some respect for yourself and walk away, report the attempt, and blast the incident on social media so people can stop supporting these pigs.
ReplyDeleteI don't think any of these guesses really work. Crowe, from accounts here, can't last 30 seconds and makes whores want to vomit - so no way the whole weekend. Plus he's steadily been working. Steven Seagal did a ton of work in 2016 and has worked in 2017 and this year. Brendon Fraser, while looking a touch plump, has been in some tv shows recently.
ReplyDeleteSometimes when Enty says "disappeared" or "can't get work" he means they haven't done anything respectable. Low budget, straight to DVD for the foreign market movies are excluded from legit work. Also, if you're producing your own crappy projects, it doesn't count the same as somebody else actually hiring you.

ReplyDeleteI also don't understand how someone can be MADE to couch for an acting job in this Me Too era. You can walk away. There's a multi-million dollar, well publicized nonprofit in town for sexual harrassment. If she choses to couch her way into a gig, rather than lose the opportunity, then she made a choice. If violence or threats of blacklisting were involved, that's a different story, but there are offers you can refuse.
Of all the names mentioned, Russell Crowe was without question A+ for a decade at least. Kilmer for a brief moment around "The Doors." Fraser? No. Seagal? Hell, no.

ReplyDeleteAoife, I think it was because for years he was such an asshole to everyone he worked with. Did you see Red Planet? Apparently all of his scenes were shot separately from everyone else. Not sure if he asked for that, or if people threatened to walk if he came near them (sorry, too lazy to google).

ReplyDeleteMira Sorvino is *also* cast as Kilmer's costar in Riptide & given her meteoric rise post #MeToo socially & politically speaking, she would have ZERO problem taking Kilmer down if the story is anywhere close to true (she's amazing at taking out chauvinists on Twitter).
Moreover Sorvino & Kilmer have worked together before ('At First Sight', came out in 1999, directed by Irwin Winkler). so if Kilmer were behaving that way, why would on earth she accept that role? She's not just a Harvard grad, she's also pretty street savvy & mature & doesn't suffer any bullshit gladly anymore.
As for Top Gun 2 that is Cruise & Jerry Bruckheimer's baby. Kilmer had to retract once publicly that he had gotten the role a few years back (2015/2016) so no I don't see where he would get a voice in casting, much less demanding anyone 'submit' to the casting couch.
Plus how does a 'blacklisted' (out of favor) actor get to demand anything (himself getting cast, a say in casting decisions, or pressuring someone else onto the casting couch?
This just doesn't fit.
@shakey The biggest problem child on the Red Planet set was Tom Sizemore & not Kilmer.
ReplyDeleteThere was a physical altercation between Kilmer (one of the producers of the film) & Sizemore & to get the film done Sizemore's scenes & Kilmer's could not be shot together post fracas.
I also note that Sizemore has been taken down over credible allegations of committing child sexual abuse on a different film set (while the unit photographer was taking photos for the film's publicity stills, Sizemore had a very underaged female actress who was playing Sizemore's daughter seated on his lap and in view of the crew & other professionals committed a lewd act involving his fingers upon her). Sizemore has also had very serious substance addiction issues to deal with.
