It isn't shocking this former child actor turned A list adult actor turned A- list aging actor is sticking up for the child porn loving director. What is shocking is that he is saying so publicly because people will start digging into his life and wondering just how many "intimate gifts" he accepted from that sex cult when they were recruiting his significant other.

I keep thinking of Kurt in "Dark Blue" - a fallen hero (cop), who was really never a hero at all, haunted by the demons of his past, even stretching back to his childhood.

The thing about Bautista et all protecting Gunn, I can understand misplaced loyalty to a friend, or not wanting to believe the truth about a friend, bit it is the "anyone that would be offended by this is a NAZI!" defense that is so disturbing.
I meant to add how convincedly Dark and still charismatic Kurt was in that movie (Dark Blue). It was a little frightening and awe inspiring to see. I hope it was just really good acting.

ReplyDeleteSo, on another note, FrankReport, who seems very knowledgeable on the subject of NXIVM and has been trying to expose them from Buffalo Ny for quite some time says that the blind about ranieres keepers poisoning children can't possibly be true because the timeline doesn't fit, and I think he might be right, so what is Enty doing here, creating filler or just passing along a story that he was told that did indeed turn out to be bunk? I'd really like to know. I've seen quite a bit of material here that is true and does hold up but if ya'll wanna play games like that where we have to guess that some of the most severe blinds are indeed hoaxes man none of us deserve to have to wade through that shit.

DeleteBad things about Kurt Russell, who I've always liked a lot but have felt cautious about because of his Disney childhood and some of the others he's run with, twice in two weeks on CDAN. The other was him raping Bonnie Bedelia during "The New Land" TV series, so badly that she couldn't work for days and left the business for some time. Sickening.

ReplyDeleteKurt Russell is not only A List, he's had one of the best Hollywood careers of anybody, from child star to Disney's popular 1970s Dexter Gordon franchise to Elvis to Snake Plissken and a string of great John Carpenter movies to light touch rom-coms like "Overboard" and "Captain Ron" to Wyatt Earp and "Stargate" Herb Brooks in "Miracle" and so on and so on.
ReplyDeleteKurt Russell has been in a ton of great movies. I would call him permanent A List. He's been one of my favorite movie stars for a long time and it makes the news about him here recently very upsetting to read.
@Akbar you are absolutely right about Bautista not knowing about the accusations.
ReplyDeleteIt's something I think a lot of people online, including in these comments, forget about; not every knows each other's secrets in the industry, not all of it is an open secret, and bad people (I'll just lump every awful person under that) don't flaunt their secrets or what they've done. Harvey Weinstein is one story, but not every person that worked with Bryan Singer or anyone like that knew.
If these more serious accusations about James are true, not everyone around him would know about it, including cast members, crew, and the like. From what they know, the sides they have seen of him (or anyone else) are of a good, hardworking person, that tweeted some wannabe 'edgy' things when the humor around that time permitted it, even though they are disgusting to most people.
To say people like Kurt, Bautista, Pratt, and Zoe are enablers or terrible people because they believe they're sticking up for someone who has been nothing but good to them is stupid and lacks critical thinking.
No one can fault the Guardians cast for speaking out in support of a colleague and friend. What is wrong, though, because it is misleading, is asking the rest of us to join them in absolving Gunn when they are covering up the very worst of his behavior.

ReplyDeleteHe was definitely A list, with movies like Escape from NY, the thing, Silkwood, Overboard, Tequila Sunrise, Backdraft, Tombstone, Stargate, Escape from LA, Dark Blue... and another dozen movies that would easily qualify him for B+.
He and Goldie Hawn were quite a power couple in the 80's and early 90's. Definitely A list.
I wonder why Melina hasn't #MeToo'd Batista. She could be one of many former WWE Divas.

Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn used to come up to Muskoka (cottage country in northern Ontario) in the summers.

Kurt on the other hand was an arrogant A-hole who thought he was better than all the ordinary people.
