Blind Item #7 - Grammy Awards - Mr. X

On the phone at the Clive Davis party was this permanent A list singer/actress/Oscar winner who was yelling at her agent about attending the birthday party of the permanent A list actress. Our legend wanted no part of it because she didn't even know the actress.

  4. It was weird Streisand went - I kept wondering why she was there & what her connection was to Aniston. very odd

  5. @notthisagain - i thought the same thing. i found it pretty strange too.

  6. Streisand is the biggest cunt on the planet. She is the definition of “unwarranted self importance”.

  7. I'll wager a full blown biopic of Babs is being kicked around and she was screaming that Rachel was nowhere big enough a name to play the part. And too old, too.
CaCa probably thinks Babs is too small for her ego to fit the role. Plus, type casting. CaCa wants to be a singing Natalie/Scarlett type with Hepburn level respect and first reject on every single script.
(CaCa is like one of those days when you just can't wipe enough to feel comfortable. Yes, I knew many would agree. Your welcome)

  8. Cher is on tour and not a bitch like Streisand

  9. Streisand hasn't been relevant for the last 20-30 years, depending on how you feel about her acting career. Her next big event will be her funeral.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Not even sure why Babs would be forced to go? As a photo op? Does anyone care about her at this point? It's not like she's looking to book anything. Don't get why it's good PR for her to be there. Everyone was too busy salivating that Brad showed up.

  12. astra, shut your mouth! "Unwarranted self importance?" Have you seen her career? The woman is a phenomenal talent. I STILL listen to her "Guilty" album regularly. She is a fucking LEGEND.

Obnoxious, and stuck up and many other names, but "unwarranted self importance?" Pfffft.

    1. My God I grew up on her and she has an amazing place in my memories and talent is superhuman.
I just rewatched Yentl(amazing film) and her song “The Way He Makes Me Feel “ gives me goosebumps.
Guilty is a great album. The Way We Were list goes on

    2. Now I have The Way We Were stuck in my head.
      Thank you. ☺️💗

🎵 Can it be that it was all so simple then?
Or has time rewritten every line?
If we had the chance to do it all again,
      Tell me, would we?
      Could we? 🎵

  13. Fuck yeah Paris, if nobodies like a Gaga or an Iggy Azalea can act all high and mighty without a career portfolio to back them up, Miss Barbra can do whatever the fuck she damn well pleases.

  14. Didn't Jen A date Barbra's stepson? He played her boyfriend in Friends... cannae remember his name.

  15. Barbra seems pretty down to earth in her interviews. She is also not the most outgoing of people, so I can imagine her being uncomfortable at being pushed to go to a birthday party of someone she doesn't even know, I wouldn't want to either. Also, that circle is not exactly her age group.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Streisand's most recent album was a pretty big hit and was On Rolling Stone's 20 Best Pop Albums of 2018. She also had #1 albums in 2016 and 2014. So she is as relevant as ever.

  17. fun fact: streisand has a mall in her basement. no joke.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I find it hard to believe that after a quarter of a century Barbara Streisand wouldn't know Jennifer Anniston. She never met her? Not even at the Vanity Fair Oscar party?

    ReplyDelete
  19. Aniston doesnt really deserve permanent A list, her career has really floundered since the 90s

    ReplyDelete
  20. 90% celebrities who were at Aniston’s birthday party were her neighbors.Streisand is one of her neighbors at Malibu

    ReplyDelete
  21. barbra likes vintage a lot, she comes to my former employers booth at the santa monica vintage expo often (Ive never met her, I just worked the san francisco vintage expo before they shuttered it and now are only socal).

she's quiet but polite according to the people that go there and my former boss. I am too young to have been around when she was doing all the stuff she's famous for, but I find her kind of quirky in a weird, possibly grouchy way? anyway, I dunno - I just want to get lost in her basement mall.

    ReplyDelete
  22. You can know who someone is without knowing them as a person. And she probably isn't nextdoor neighbors with Aniston. She probably does not know Aniston as a friend or as anything more than a name in Hollywood and her neighborhood, why should she have gone to the party?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Streisand’s earned all of her self importance. I rather her than Jlo, Gaga, and all these fakers. Her Broadway cd is excellent.

    2. I have cried real tears listening to her version of As if we never said goodbye. As a Brooklyn girl myself, I will always have love for her. Love Buble voice.

      Delete
  24. I agree, gauloise. Aniston cannot carry a movie on her name alone.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Babs is very hospitable to neighbors in Malibu. When my sister moved there, Babs had the whole family over for lunch and a tour of the house and mall. It was really nice of her to roll out the welcome wagon, and they are not Hollywood people. She may not be well known to younger folks, but back in the day she was the cat's meow.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Streisand's basement mall is pretty unusual, but cool. But having that much stuff would make me nervous, how many things and places do you really need? It's going to fall on your family to have to sort it out and dispose of/sell it all when you die, why not make it as simple as possible for them?

On one of the episodes of "Ozzy and Jack's World Detour" (which is a GREAT show) Ozzy and Jack went to a warehouse that was storing tons of Ozzy's tour and career memorabilia, and the sheer amount of what he's accumulated over the years was astonishing. I felt sorry for his kids who would have to maintain or go through all of it after he;s gone. If you can't put it in your home, why hang onto it?

  27. Aniston has some creative PR people.
They bend over backwards to make her The Most Popular Girl In High School.
.. high school was over 30 years ago...

    ReplyDelete
  28. @SusannZ

They do a hell of a job with making her still seem relevant that's for sure. They probably got that birthday wish from Theroux at gunpoint

But the petty #Team Jen little girl in me loves to imagine Angelina looking at the party pics and fuming lol

    ReplyDelete
  29. I see this as her pushing back on having to go to a birthday party of someone she doesn't know/is friends with. As in, it makes no sense to be there and will look (exactly how it looked) like she was out of place. I'm with Babs on this one.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I can't imagine that Angelina gives a shit about Jen's party. She's the one that filed for divorce.

  31. September 2010 Bazaar, Aniston did a layout styled like Streisand. Jen is a big fan.

  32. @DoTell: Totally disagree. She filed thinking he’d come crawling back. And trust me, Angelina was probably apoplectic when she heard Brad went to Jen’s party.

  33. There was an article in People magazine about that photo layout:

"I think she did a wonderful job," says Streisand. "If only she had a bump on her nose"

    EUNICE OH August 05, 2010 06:40 PM
Jennifer Aniston‘s amazing transformation into Barbra Streisand has caught the attention of none other than the Funny Girl herself.

“I was very flattered that Jennifer Aniston chose to interpret my style with the photos in Harper’s Bazaar,” Streisand, 68, says on her Web site.

So much so that the Oscar winner and Grammy-winning singer posted her own set of look-alike photos of the two stars, which shows them each lying on their sides with their heads resting on their left hand.

Aniston, 41, who paid homage to her idol in the fashion magazine’s September issue, is “a delightful person,” says Streisand. “I think she did a wonderful job.”

Streisand’s only constructive criticism about the spread? “If only she had a bump on her nose,” she quips.

  34. Paris and Tricia, she’s talented (although what she sings isn’t really my cup of tea), but her personality makes her so vile that I can’t stand her. She can sing! There is zero dispute about that, but being able to sing shouldn’t give a person so much power and fame and money that they turn into a massive arrogant bitch. That’s all. Cloning a dog? Come on. Lol.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I’ll also say that my father had a crush on her and he may be the only man with (allegedly) perfect vision, to think so. I told him he needed to get his eyes checked ASAP. Lol.

    1. Aw I think she’s beautiful... unconventionally so maybe. Funny Girl- the eyes etc, lips. That said yeah I get the arrogant part but I’ll gake her and her caftans over a Mariah and her size 2(though im really an 8-10) tube dresses any day!

  36. I don't know if Streisand is still relevant, but her music still fills me with a silent dread. This review nailed it on the head:

    Most Overrated Singer:

    Barbra Streisand.
Many singers make my teeth ache, from Rudy Vallee to Britney Spears, but none is taken so seriously as the incomparably ersatz Barbra Streisand. She is an icon of America’s love of display and personality at the expense of sincerity and taste. Everything she sings is charged with self-loving vulgarity; worship me, she bellows, and forget the song. Streisand has a huge instrument and not an inkling of what to do with it. Her primary technique consists of heavy breathing, which turns tenaciously aspirate on vowels or h words. As a small boy, watching her in Funny Girl on Broadway, I recoiled at her shallowness. She never deigned to play the role; she was too intent on stopping the show. Alice Paye, who played a similar part in Rose of Washington Square , displayed more soul on her worst day. Classical Barbra exposed her hubris, yet her pop singing is every bit as garish. Vulgarity has its place, but only when animated by emotional generosity, which is why, despite her immense popularity, Streisand has never joined the ranks of the great hearts-on-their-sleeves emoters, from Jolson to Garland. They meant it. She doesn’t.

  37. Barbra Streisand is a big enough star--I would rate her permanent A+ with singing, directing, and acting-- that in no universe can I see her "having" to go to a party she didn't want to attend. She doesn't need the publicity. She doesn't need to listen to her agent. I just don't see this happening. She is a well-known control freak, and I don't see her caving and doing something she didn't want to do.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Mad Hominem, so that person thinks she is overrated. Big deal.

The woman can bring me to tears with that beautiful voice. She is also a damn good actress and director. I fucking LOVE "The Prince of Tides".

    ReplyDelete
  39. Aqua, I think Angelina has a lot more fish to fry than what parties are being attended by the ex she dumped. How many tons of blinds have there been here saying that AJ's been seeing some British politician, for more than a year?

    ReplyDelete
  40. Damn that's a scorching review, yow.

  41. Notthisagain-- did you ever see the 2013 play "Buyer and Cellar?" It's about the mall in Bab's basement. I've always been curious, but never been able to see it.

I cant say I'm a huge fan of Ryan ONeal or Barbra, but I adore "What's Up, Doc?" as a ridiculous , screwball comedy that makes me happy every time I catch it!

The only thing that annoys me about Babs other than her voice (It's just me, relax), is when she inserts herself into politics - and I have about as much regard for her political opinions as any actor or actress - ie. none.

And she went to a party for unknown reasons? I have no fucks left, sorry, fresh out. Slow celeb gossip week, I guess.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Omg Tricia! Lol now I can say I know of two people that think she’s beautiful! Idk I don’t think her face itself is ugly, it’s really just that I know she is so awful personality wise. She’s not Hollywood gorgeous but she’s perfectly normal looking for the real world.

I saw her in that movie with Robert Redford? I wasn’t much impressed 🤷🏼‍♀️ I don’t know too much of her other work, maybe I’ll look into it a bit more.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I don't think she is beautiful, but she has a FANTASTIC pair of legs!

As I said, "Guilty" - every damn song is so good. And "You Don't Bring Me Flowers" with Neil Diamond has got to be one of the saddest songs ever. I get chills.

    1. I grew up listening to Guilty on a loop. It was my dad’s favorite album and every time we were in the car it was on for quite a few years. I downloaded it a few years ago and it all came back to me. I’d forgotten how good it was. And Barbra and Barry!

  45. You all are missing one important detail... Streisand & Aniston share the same agent. So it was the favor to him that Streisand was complaining about on the phone!

  46. Streisand's acting reminds me of Norma Scherer's(sp).

  47. isnt streisand higher than permenant A list? like A + or A++??

    ReplyDelete
  48. Cat, me too. My parents played it all the time.
"What Kind Of Fool" is one of my faves of hers. Barry Gibb produced the album. Bee Gees all over it. So damn good.

    ReplyDelete
  49. They met after the photo shoot and once again at an awards show, photo proof. Streisand was flattered by Aniston’s portrayal of her in Elle. So obviously they met previously.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Okay I am so thoroughly confused as what "pop" music is nowadays. See I thought it was Christina, Britney, Taylor, potentially H.E.R.,backstreet boys etc... not Babs.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Babs is a legend. Seems like a lot of this hatred is because of her politics. Her career speaks for itself.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Well either you have once again shared bad information or Babs is suffering from dementia.

Always picking on JA when everyone who has met her, has said nothing but nice things. Huvane is good but he’s not a magician.

  53. Doctor D diagnoses L'Babs: (From Wickedpedia) Impostor syndrome (also known as impostor phenomenon, impostorism, fraud syndrome or the impostor experience) is a psychological pattern in which an individual doubts their accomplishments and has a persistent internalized fear of being exposed as a "fraud".[1] Despite external evidence of their competence, those experiencing this phenomenon remain convinced that they are frauds, and do not deserve all they have achieved. Individuals with impostorism incorrectly attribute their success to luck, or as a result of deceiving others into thinking they are more intelligent than they perceive themselves to be.[2] While early research focused on the prevalence among high-achieving women, impostor syndrome has been recognized to affect both men and women equally.
    That's her in a nutshell.
