Blind Item #8 - Grammy Awards - Mr. X

This back in the day one hit wonder with the unusual name she name dropped in her own song always like to say she is sober. She will even say it while drinking bourbon and smoking pot. Such was the case this weekend.

  1. Don't think Chaka Khan deserves 'one hit wonder' really though, does she.

  2. Meredith Brooks? ;)

  3. India Arie. Even back when she was famous, she was trashed out of her mind.

  4. Macy Gray?
Not that it’s so unusual, but first /only time I think I’ve heard it used as a first name?

  5. Or maybe Fiona Apple but I hope not/

  6. India Arie fits for name dropping in her biggest hit.

  8. Fiona is not a one hit wonder. She has a ton of loyal fans and her last album in 2012 debuted at number 5.

I will defend Fiona Apple til my dying day. She is a fucking genius.

    1. I happen to
Love her music as well. No need to defend her with me.Ive also met her and she’s extremely sweet(and shy). Enty has wrongfully called artists that have multiple hits this... the only reason I threw her name in.

  12. Betty Boo, the one hit wonder song is "Betty Boo doing the do" from the 90s?

IT was a big hit in Europe and she was always on MTV and stuff for a while, but don't know if it was a hit in the USA.

  14. If they had one hit --back in the day ---then why are you even talking about them?
    Desperate for stories?

Yeah, don't fuck with Fiona. She's carved her own way and done well. And everything she said in that speech above is right.

  20. 🎢Chaka khan, let me rock you, let me rock you, Chaka Khan🎢...with Rufus or solo, she's a legend! That being said, she seems daffy enough to claim sobriety between puffs and swigs.

Wow, love Fiona...not a one hitter, and which song cites her name? Macy has had some fun songs, I dont know how many would qualify as hits.

Not familiar enough with work of the others.

  21. And also, Macy Gray is no “one hit wonder!!”

  22. Wow whoever said Chaka Khan knows nothing about her music. Not only did she have solo hits, but before that she was with the group Rufus in the 70's & they had a number of hits....C'mon!

    1. Sweet Thing, I’m every woman, tell me something good, I feel for you, higher love duet and through the Fire. Plus Chaka has been open about her drug issues and has been to rehab.

  23. Absolutely jumping on the Fiona love train. I'm almost positive we're getting FA5 this year!! I follow her pretty closely and the only time I've ever heard her say she was sober was back in 2012 she told a story to a reporter about how she got drunk one day and thought it contributed to a baby hummingbird fleeing it's nest in her backyard while she was taking pictures...lol no joke. So she stopped drinking for a month to "learn a lesson" from it. Other than that she's pretty open about drinking and weed/hash.

Now she’s working at Dairy Queen again 🍦!

  25. MDAnderson--also Aint Nobody! Perhaps the past issues and rehabs are what are making her think she needs to deny current use? But one hit?😩

Gentle Breeze-- Nope, that was Joan Osbourne. Same era, though!

  26. Freebird-- good scoop!and on subject of bitch...im drawing a blank..who sang, "im a bitch, Im a liar, im a ...?" I can hear it but i dont remember rest of lyrics

Sophie B Tucker' s "Damn! I wish I was your lover!" Was a catchy one. Lol! A Good exclamation song is always fun!

I wrote Sophie B.Tucker, lol!!! Not a coincidence that Chicago cast recording and Chakas greatest hits were simultaneously in heavy rotation during a period of stressful commuting!

  30. Fiona Apple is fucking awesome!
I agree with Hot Knife and add Werewolf to the list of songs. Those lyrics are sharp!
It could mean a few things, especially if you remember Norman's Cay. Minor Key.
