ReplyDeleteI want to hate CA but Stripped is still one of my favorite albums. I listen to it on a regular basis. She's such a waste of talent.

ReplyDeleteShe seems like she wouldn’t do well at a casino. I can see her being a big sloppy drunk and a compulsive gambler. She seems like a person with zero ability to regulate her impulses.

ReplyDeleteYes. She’s got the most amazing voice, but only has like, two decent songs (maybe more if you like ballads, which I don’t). Amy Winehouse and Adele were/are the same. Gorgeous voice but not a song by either of them that I could stand.

ReplyDeleteDid you guys ever hear the story of how she came to be? Her mom took her to meet with some producer or somebody. They met in a restaurant. Christina was a young girl. She did an acappella song right there in the restaurant. I guess everyone was completely floored and she was signed right away. I’ve always thought that was kind of cool.
ReplyDeleteGurrrl just retire and sit on the beach for the rest of your life. Make it work! Sell some shit and then live off the residuals. That's WTF I would do if I'd shaken my ass off through my entire teens and 20s but just wanted to party in my middle age.

ReplyDeleteLol sure seems that way! I understand vices but gambling is the dumbest thing ever imo. At least if you spend all your money on drugs and alcohol, you still get something for your money. Gambling, you might as well just throw it away!
DeleteWow. She was a victim of the Mickey Mouse machine, and everyone is taking shots at her. The fact she hasn't done something heinous is admirable. Maybe that accounts for her being a "total bitch," just like A Bynes is schizophrenic (not).
ReplyDeleteShe never utilized her talent. Stripped was her only decadent body of work cuz Linda Perry is very talented and brought out Christina's best. She can easily go down as biggest waste of talent in modern recording history. Why she doesn't go Portishead/Moorecheeba style is beyond me, she has the voice to do the smoky, sexy downtempo and access to the best producers.

ReplyDeleteI wish I could sing, I mean real singing like CA. Imagine being given a voice like that and you drug/drink/smoke, seriously? Mariah, Whitney, Ariana, CA, I think Celine is pretty clean. I'm sure her husband strictly ruled over her or perhaps Celine has common fricken' sense in taking care of her rare instrument!
ReplyDeleteThere's a part of me that's so pissed off at these people who are given such a rare talent, and then of course sympathy because they're in an industry that uses/abuses/and then spits them out. Only the tough survive.
Singers are a dime a dozen, that's why they get treated as bad as or worse than actresses. Good songwriters are much rarer.
