From my own personal experience, (back in the 80's) there are plenty of "Actresses" that will sleep with/have sex with any established actor for the chance of being introduced to a producer or director friend of the actor with the understanding they get a part in the future.

Like Romero, he's as gay as a goose which is why highly prized young actresses can be entrusted to pair up with him at functions. Those ingénues can't be seen with the producers they are fucking, but they have to be seen in public, so this guy punches the clock, slips into a tux, and does his job. The technical term for these coat hangers is "walker".
