Today's Blind Items - The Story Behind The Story

Everyone knows the story of why this permanent A list mostly movie actor who is an Academy Award winner/nominee wouldn't sign on for a sequel to a huge franchise from about a decade ago. He and one of the female co-leads hated each other. But why did they hate each other? Legend has it that he criticized her acting and she hated him after that. The real story is though he is a drunk and a mean drunk at that and a get what I want when I am drunk kind of guy and he would not stop hitting on her and making advances on her and trying to touch her and she wasn't having any of it and hated him for that. Because she said no to him so many times, he made it out to be the reason he couldn't stand her was because of her acting. That ticked off our actress who then beat the hell out of the actor.

  2. Now THIS is a blind. I hope it's true.
People should NEVER have to employ self defense or redirection tactics. especially in a work situation.
    I mean, Especially anywhere.

  4. So some rapey punk got his ass beat by his female costar?

  5. Tommy Lee Jones and Linda Fiorentino from Men in Black. He only agreed to return for the sequel if she had no part in it.

  6. Is this Hulk? Eric Bana, Jennifer Connelly, and Nick Nolte. Sounds like Nolte.

    1. Maybe the second hulk with Norton?

    2. Norton, he has a bad reputation . Bana can't stand hollywood and everybody who has worked with him speaks highly of him. He seems down to earth to me

  7. Bill Murray and Lucy Lui - Charlie’s Angels. Bernie Mac was in the sequel.

  8. So the actress laid hands on the actor but you're trying to demonize the actor? This sounds like Vin Diesel and that hispanic chick who hasn't been in anything other than fast and furious because guess what? She sucks as an actress.

Should I watch my back now?

  9. So is Bill Murray known for being a rapey punk?

  12. Charlie's Angels would be a good fit to the blind, but that was closer to 2 decades ago.

  13. Bill Murray. This makes me sad!

  14. Ben Affleck/Amy Adams - Batman franchise

  15. and i don't think Charlie's Angels is a "HUGE" franchise.

  16. My first thought was charlize theron and Tom Hardy on the set of fury road.

  17. The last Charlie's Angels was 16 years ago, let's try harder.

  18. I immediately thought of Lucy Liu and Bill Murray. I would be surprised if it was anyone else.

  19. Tom Hardy/Charlize Theron

  20. I can see Lucy possessing the ability to kick some serious ass

  21. I like the bill Murray guess. Franco wasn’t in any sequels for planet of the apes but Frieda pinto wasn’t in the other movies. Matt M wasn’t in magic mike but no female leads.

  22. Johnny depp and Keira knightly?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Matt Damon? Borne?

  24. This sounds a lot like Bill Murray/Lucy Liu. And yes, at the time, the Charlie's Angels movies were very big, although the first movie was almost 20 years ago, not ten.

  28. Googling Bill Murray & Lucy Liu brings up this story: "Bill Murray stopped a scene in progress and pointed to Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz, and Lucy Liu saying in order, 'I get why you’re here, and you’ve got talent….but what in the hell are you doing here. You can’t act!' At that, Liu blew her lid and attacked Murray, wildly throwing punches. The actors had to be separated to opposite corners of the room while they lobbed verbal hand grenades at each other. With a Columbia Pictures gun to their heads, both actors would publicly downplay in incident but insiders know better. Bill Murray would not do any sequel with Liu attached and was subsequently replaced by Bernie Mac."

  31. @Nate - On the Tom Cruise podcast Enty said that Katie was required to drop all her projects when they started "dating"

Enty also admits that he estimates dates so a decade could be 15 years...so Bill Murray & Lucy Liu

  32. IMAO, egotistical actors need to get their asses beat (by a woman) to learn their place.

So glad to learn this was true.

I always thought Lucy Lui was a better actor/actress than, "Hey, look at me! I'm always trying to be funny" Bill Murray.

  33. People described as "permanent A list mostly movie actor" recently:
Depp, Sean Penn, Bruce Willis, Stallone, Harrison Ford Bill Murray

Ben Affleck and Brad Pitt is not permanent A list to Enty.
Tom Hardy is foreign born A- list.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Norton was most recently labeled A-/B+ list mostly movie actor in 2016. I doubt his profile has gone up since then. Nolte was former A list back in 2014. Damon is also not considered "permanent" A list. I think Murray fits. Sigh.

  35. I've always thought Murray was creepy/rapey. Especially after that horrific initiation movie they made Scarlett Johannsson do with him. That was 50 shades of puke.

  36. Bill Murray is super nice to fans, my family and I met him 5 years ago at one of his restaurants, and in multiple occasions afterwards. He was always gracious, funny,& helpful. I had always found him, & his brother charming, & sweet..

    ReplyDelete
  37. Yeah I mean I would have thought we'd have seen multiple blinds about him by now if this was his style. Sh!t I think we even saw a kindness blind about him not too long ago. Supposedly he is also great meeting fans and random people in public. Then again some folks do a complete personality 180 when they're drinking or even just at work. It is confirmed that him and Lucy Liu seriously got into it on the set of the first Charlie's Angels.

  38. My husband met him at the ProAm and confirmed he is super nice to fans, but he's a good actor. It looks like Bill has a dark half that comes out when he drinks.

  41. @Mooody, Got to read the fine print newbie, Enty always does this:

"actor who is an Academy Award winner/nominee"

He was nominated for Best Actor for Lost in Translation but lost to Sean Penn, which was f*cking highway robbery in my opinion.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Haha, somebody had fun in wikipedia with "Academy Award" 😅

  43. Bill Murray threatened to murder his wife

  44. Being a mean drunk is throwing good money after bad. Booze is expensive and is supposed to be for a good time. BM is rich and has probably had to suck a lot of circumcised dick to get where he is and drinking makes his resentment at the deal with the devil he made come out. The fact that he picked on a dyke probably means he thought he had a shot with Diaz who really cannot act but he didn't want to yell at her.

  45. My first thought was it sounds Like the rumors that came from the Notebook. That Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams couldnt stand the sight of each other

  46. I like the Bill Murray/ Lucy Liu thread

  47. @Substance D: Your comment also brings Mel Gibson to mind...

  48. Wrestler guy and Goop girl. He said she was unprofessional and couldn't act. He was right, but maybe still. I like the other guesses, but just tossing it out.

  49. Aussie drunk is redundant. Mel is a work-a-holic. Mel (Malcolm/descends from Scottish Jews so the weird Catholic dad stuff is just an op and the anti-semetic rant was also a thing, though not sure what) also is the biggest collector of Three Stooges memorabila in the world. I knew one of his trading partners. Everyone has an edge.

  50. I've got it. This is Nic Cage and Diane Kruger and the franchise is National Treasure which reportedly was thisclose to getting a third entry in it's franchise.

  51. Very disappointed in this behavior if this is Bill M., but let's be real -- Lucy Liu really is a lightweight. (Not that that excuses being brutally rude about it!)

    ReplyDelete
  52. Not sure where Id place her acting talent, but, Bill picked the wrong gal of the three to criticize! Unintended audition for Kill Bill!

Im a fan of Bill's work, but with so many stories on both ends of the spectrum, he's an erratic personality at the very least. Ive heard and read the schmucky drunk horror stories, but the tale above of him stopping the scene to insult her is just a-hole behavior/rudest way of pointing out problem! I doubt he was drunk for filming, so no excuses. And, if you can recall that movie, NO ONE had quality dialogue to finesse!

The mentions of Charlize and Tom were interesting, bc they notoriously had conflict, too. However, I believe she was more vocal about him and it seemed to have resolved itself. Fury Road was a fun movie, imo! Those creepy fighters hanging from the swaying poles? Great stuff!😁

  55. Lost in Translation was a piece of shit film. The moody element and cringey dialogue is something an artfilm student would have made. It was all nepotism. Sophia Coppola is totally overrated.

Never got the Bill Murray hype; he's so hard to watch, displeasing to look at. Neither a movie star, nor a leading man, imo.

    1. I absolutely agree especially regarding the film. A brutally overrated bore-fest!

  56. @Depeche Mode: has the worst skin I've ever seen. Agree with the nepotism re: Coppola. However, wasn't ScarJo like 19 and Murry 50 in that film? That was super creepy, super rapey, and this was at a time when she was also photographed with old-ass Salman Rushdie all smashed up on her.

  57. @Beez
Tom Hardy is officially deemed gay here at CDAN. I wouldn't know. Probably just gay for pay or for roles. Maybe we should agree on who's gay here and write down an official CDAN list. Of the closeted ones, of course. My rule of thumb is that about fifty percent of A-listers are gay.
