This current B list mostly movie actress is still beloved. She is just someone we always will pull for even if she does not do much any longer. A barely legal teen when she made this monster hit, she says she would only do a sequel if this A list mostly television actor is not in it. He would not stop hitting on her and she hated seeing any call sheet where they had to film.

ReplyDeleteI've never thought of Winona as beloved. She was a thief who was finally charged after several other "incidents" with high-end stores, then repeatedly lied about the whole thing. Anyone else would have gone to jail.
ReplyDeleteLove Winona. Girl had a crazy ass, hippie-commune childhood.Who knows what that involved... and she is still the sweetest person. She was robbed of the '94 Oscar for Little Women, tho at least was nominated. Best "Jo" ever .. the definitive.

And for a time it seemed like she was in everything! Gah, her performance in “Dracula” stands out for me as particularly shitty. I always felt the same way about Uma Thurman, too.

ReplyDeleteI loved Winona way back when, even dated a sort of look-a-like. It was too bad about the bling ring that she stole, if she didn't have that nervous breakdown she would have been in, and not ruined The Godfather III.
Anyone remember that In Living Color skit where this guy comes to, and has a moment of sobriety, only to be told that he's the President of the United States? His security agent tells him his life story- he rants on stage and the people love it (they predicted Trump), and the First Lady is Winona Ryder!
Team Winona here too. She IS beloved, after beetle juice (omg pedojuice 😂😂) and heathers, and Edward scissorhands. She’s kind of 80s iconic. Her shoplifting was like the less violent version of Britney loosing her shit and shaving her head. I don’t hate her..even if I secretly thought she was mildly annoying in stranger things...

DeleteNOt do much anymore? She stars in "Stranger Things" and made a goofy movie with Keanu Reeves last year. She works more than a lot of people.

I was on the set of Edward Scissorhands back in the day (my cousin was an extra in the classroom scene) and I was talking to a security guard, just wasting time Nd she came up (in wig so I didnt recognize her) and started talking to us for about 30 minutes. I had no idea who she was but she was so sweet and nice, as I stupidly gushed about my 16 year old self crushing over Johnny. The security guard told me afterwards who she was and he said she was extremely down to earth. We all have demons but I am hoping she fully left hers behind.

ReplyDeleteI totally agree about WannaRideHer. I can't believe she was upset about Alec hitting on her when she was well known for pretty much sleeping with anyone who asked. Also, she is extremely self-conscious of her lack of education. She used to lie about being a MENSA member and being accepted into Harvard. She dropped out of high school in the ninth grade to be "home schooled." When she became popular, Petaluma High scrounged up a diploma for her. There is so much about her that is fake.
The irony is that he made that David Mamet movie where he get busted for being with an underage local.
