Blind Item #5 - Reader Blind

This actor rose to prominence when he was a child playing a role on a drama series set in a certain period based on the writings of an author who was in the news awhile back.  The show ran for a number of seasons.  After that, he had a couple failed shows and made guest appearances and then disappeared for about a decade and a half except for the occasional TV role.  This was partly blamed on the actor’s mental condition which he has been forthright about. However, the main reason was a horrible experience he had on this sitcom (the episode he was in was never aired).  The show was an ensemble which featured this actor who is associated with a sport and had another popular sitcom after this one as well as this late prankster who was more well known for his trolling-type activities outside of the show.  The lead actor on the ensemble has starred in other TV shows. One day after filming, the lead actor took the young actor back to his dressing room and offered him a drink that was drugged. He then raped the actor so violently he required surgery afterwards.

  5. I am thinking Taxi is the ensemble sitcom with Andy Kaufman as the prankster and Tony Danza as the actor associated with a sport. So that would make Judd Hirsch the lead actor I suppose, not sure who the victim could be.

  6. Dead prankster, eh? Well, someone from Jackass? It isn't Allen Funt, who barely acted.

  7. I think Katy got it.

  8. Matthew Labyorteaux, Little House on The Praire

  9. i don't think we have the victim right though. I think ML acted beyond when Taxi went off the air.

  10. Jason Bateman was on Little House on the Prairie. Disappeared for a decade-plus due to drug and alcohol issues, Its Your Move was his failed sitcom. He was on the Hogan Family but someone would probably describe him as disappearing between Teen Wolf Too and Arrested Development.

  11. I guess it can be said after reading so many of these, but what the hell is wrong with people?

I don't have a guess, though, sadly, Katy makes a strong case for Matthew Labyorteaux. I had quite the crush on him in my Prairie watching days. So, which actor was the predator??

  13. It was Laura Ingalls Wilder's Birthday two days ago, for the recently in the news part.

  14. Thinking Jason Bateman and Little House on the Prairie as Merlin Olsen played for the LA Rams and starred in Father Murphy. Not sure who would be the prankster though. I really hope this isn't him because I grew up watching Landon as Charles Ingalls.

  15. Matthew acted pretty consistently for a long time through the 80's and into the 90's.

  19. If it is Taxi and Judd Hirsch, and it seems to be, it can't be Jason Bateman. In the 90's he co-starred with Hirsch in "George and Leo," and if what's described here happened it doesn't make sense that he would have agreed to do so. But it also doesn't make sense that an episode of "Taxi" was filmed but never aired, as surely that would have emerged by now.

The only period dramas that fit, are the Waltons or Little House.
The comedy set where he got hurt, does sound like Taxi.
I always got a bad feeling about that show and some of its cast. I would watch five minutes and switch the channel.
    Never quite knew why.

  26. I think it’s Little House on the Prairie. I recently read that Michael Landon was quite the prankster on set. He played all kinds of pranks on fellow cast members.

  29. Daryl, me too about Taxi. Louie was meant to be creepy, but it was Jeff Conaway who bothered me, as he was known to be an out of control drug addict. (And later was replaced as Jessica Fletcher's nephew in "Murder She Wrote"). Could Andy Kaufman be the prankster?

  30. Jason Bateman went from Little House to Silver Spoons which is one of the most iconic TV shows of the 80s, hardly a failed show.

  31. Tony Danza, really? Is this a rumor? Or well known?

  36. Young actor with mental illness - Matthew Laboryteaux
Popular show - Little House on the Prairie
Author in the news - Laura Ingalls Wilder
Sitcom - Taxi (episode never aired; wonder why)
Actor associated with sport - Tony Danza (as boxer Tony Banta)
Prank actor - Andy Kaufman (reported to have faked his own death)
Lead actor who had a number of other series - Judd Hirsch

This makes me a little sick as I saw Hirsch in a play in Seattle a few years ago.

  37. @STN -- Source, please, about the episode that never aired.
    1. I was never able to find one.
    2. Matthew is not listed as ever doing a guest appearance on Taxi.

Everything else fits; Matthew would have been 17-18yo when LHOTP ended. The missing episode is the key to this.

  38. So, to beat this horse to death:

"One day after filming, the lead actor took the young actor back to his dressing room and offered him a drink that was drugged. He then raped the actor so violently he required surgery afterwards."

That would explain the missing episode. This event happened, not after the wrap, but during the shoot with more scene(s) left before the wrap. The rape triggered cancelling the episode, therefore it was never listed.

Starting to make more sense now.

  39. I'm sick of this QAnon bullshit. This should be easy enough to prove or disprove. So what was the episode of Taxi that never aired with Jason Bateman?

That should be easy enough to look up.

  42. I don't think LHOTP would count as a "sitcom". The incident happened after he was on the drama series (LHOTP), on what is labeled as a sitcom. .

    ReplyDelete
  43. @SeihnSei The first show was never referred to as a sitcom. It was the second show with the lead actor that was mentioned as a sitcom. @Village Guru Also this episode of the sitcom was only filmed for one day and was likely scrapped and never listed in IMDB (I checked for Matthew).

  44. I hope this isn't true, but I know this sort of thing happens constantly. The level of evil here is shocking, just absolutely shocking. These perpetrators are not human, they are not the same species as me.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Judd Hirsch has always creeped me out and I never knew why. If this is true, then that explains my feelings.

But I need to add one thing: this is a reader blind. How accurate are those? Are they ever checked out? Anyone can make up anything about someone in Hollyweird. Doesn’t mean it happened. Sick and tragic if it did. I had a crush on ML back in the day. Those eyes.

  46. I've helped research a book on Taxi...

This is absolutely not Taxi and not Judd Hirsch. Absolutely not Judd. No way, there's no heart of darkness in him. Point blank.

He wouldn't be working this long and still landing lots of roles with zero stories about him other than this either if there was. That doesn't pass the sniff test of basic logic. Guys who have been around that long and done terrible things, people know, it's out there- you've read the some of stuff of these guys. Stories are piled up a mile high. There's not a inappropriate word about Judd. Not even a whiff.

In fact, Judd himself was responsible for trying to clean up Taxi from Andy and Jeff's shitty behavior. He leveraged his starring role to get them off the set when they- JEFF & ANDY- were being abusive to castmates and crew, including harassing women. Judd stepped up and put his ass on the line, risking the network scraping the entire show because the star was displeased and it was too problem filled with those other 2.

    It's laughable to propose him.

ALSO there was no episode where Matthew was ever on set, or even cast, or at a reading or anything. Nadda, nil, not a one. WE HAVE COPIES OF THE CALL SHEETS FOR EVERY SINGLE EPISODE filmed and for the proposed episodes for before it got cancelled. (You can see them yourselves, people, make an appointment to visit the research television archives at the Paley Center in LA. Read the Taxi files. Publicly accessible.)

THIS DID NOT HAPPENED WITH JUDD.

  47. @Unknown

Thank you for reinforcing my thought. If this happened, if there was a lost episode of Taxi, it should be easy to research and know for sure instead of hyping this stupid QAnon conspiracy BS.

As a final thought, can you reconfirm that Jason Bateman was never cast for Taxi, especially in a lost episode as well?

  48. Every once in a while, there's a ridiculous, COMPLETELY UNSUBSTANTIATED "blind item" allegation of child abuse pointing to a prominent actor or director. The common threads? They've never had any allegations against them and the details are vague or misleading, so it's all conspiratorially unprovable. And they are all wealthy "Hollywood elite" liberals.

For all the disgusting abuse done by members of the Catholic church and Republican politicians, don't you people have real demons to be fighting?
