The mayoral challenger with the noodle-soup-adjacent surname and the fishy incumbent are playing chicken. They both know exactly what's going on with the fire reports omitting the budget's culpability. That includes the rigged media apologism in major papers and on social media. But one candidate is possibly criminally liable, and the other is probably scared for her life to talk about it. This boils down to one of those bipartisan lock steps that never ends well, until the rest of the world is looking.
