Miley Cyrus, Joaquin Phoenix & Liv Tyler In One Video

One of my favorite organizations is To Write Love On Her Arms which is a suicide prevention group. It was actually inspired by Joaquin Phoenix and they have a new PSA which is really cute. I say really cute despite the fact that Miley Cyrus is in the video. Joaquin plays her straight man and does a good job and so does Miley. Liv Tyler also makes an appearance and looks stunning. I am actually encouraging you to watch a Miley Cyrus video. Wait for it. Yes, as I look out my windows I do see pigs flying.

  2. ok so I always wanted to know....whats up with Joaquin's shoulders? is it bad posture or what? they are always unusually pushed forward.

  3. OMG- That was 4:36 min of my life I will never get back. When is Miley's 15 mins going to be over?

Nice to see a seemingly normal Joaquin again though.

Sounds like a great organization. Too bad it's been tarnished for me by including Miley. Seriously. It's kind of like Lindsay Lohan and the BBC. Great cause. WRONG spokesperson.

  4. Liv - gorg.

I must admit it's funny at the end when Miley says "Joaquin made it a lot harder than it is" and then he pops out. Such goofballs.

  5. great cause....but Miley's still effing annoying

at least she didn't, like, say like, like, 35000 times.

  6. ok i made it to 1:46. and if i had to listen to that screechy possum voice, i'd be the one on suicide watch.

  7. jokes about suicide. classy.

  8. Wonder if Liv has anything to do with Joaquin cleaning up? She is divorced from the deadbeat dad now. I know JP was devastated when they broke up years ago. She looks great too.

  9. OMG-- hate to disagree with Enty, but IMO, Miley is over-the-top obnoxious in that video.

  11. so great to see joaquin coming back from the crazy. love the guy in the beanie tho...who is he? miley, was a littl OTT, but it's all for a good cause, so i'm ok w/ it.

  12. Suicide is serious shit...
Lost my interest at 1 minute in.
Do something with Liv and/or Joaquin. shorten it up, eliminate the squeeky one. unfortunately it lost my interest....( the video, not the cause )

  13. pwner, I agree with your comment. Also how has the website been "tarnished" by including Miley? I am not a fan of Miley by any means but to compare her to Lohan is ridiculous. I don't understand what Miley has done so wrong? The only thing I can think of is she dressed and danced a little slutty at that awards show? Big deal, everyone her age makes mistakes. She is promoting the website because kids look up to her and the fact that she is not perfect is another reason she might be promoting the website, kind of proving that it is ok to make mistakes in public and it is no reason to kill yourself.

  14. @Becki, I don't think Miley has put as much thought into her involvement in this as you have.

She hasn't done anything 'wrong', sure, but to keep insisting that she is the voice of the tween generation is insulting and I'm tired of 'the world' insisting that she has that kind of power and influence. Slutty at an awards show, rolling around on the beach with her boyfriend, making slanty asian eyes and not understanding why that is offensive, yup. GREAT role model.

It just seems like a dumb PR move for the To Write Love On Her Arms organization to use her in this video. I'm pretty sure (you have only to look at the comments above), that many people won't bother watching the whole thing and clicking over to their website. Many won't watch, or will just turn it off. How is that helping TWLOHA?

I agree with your opinion. My kids are 16,17 & 18. They are prime target age for an add such as this. I know they would not sit through this with Miley in it. I still think Miley is attracting the 12 year and under crowd...

I guess kudos for her wanting to get involved..

  16. ugh. I thought it was awful. Really a shame that this is how they are representing what seems to be a really great organization.

    ReplyDelete
  17. It is a really great organization, and Miley Cyrus might be a good choice to represent it just because so many young girls do look up to her. I agree that she was just as annoying as always in the video, but I'm 34. I don't really have anything nice to say about anyone who's 17 *LOL*.

    @sunnyside
I was wondering about that too!
I didn't realize she got divorced. Hmmm.

Also, I would like the word "tween" eradicated, please.
"Teen" or "teenager" still fits the bill. "Tween" sounds cutesy. I hate cutesy.

  19. stop hating on miley! so what miley is in the video you dumb ass!
you web page is unprofessional and you need to go to school and learn!!!

  20. get a job and stop posting negative things about people on the internet, the internet in great, despite you being on it! you jackass!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  21. Thanks for that, Enty! Good cause. I voted. And yeah, Joaquin acting sane. Because maybe, just perhaps, the other side that people make fun of is just an act. You can see how nervous he is speaking for himself. I think he hides behind different personas in public. At least, that's what I like to think :-)

  22. I was wondering what had happened to Joaquin.

  23. LMAO at Kambri. "Leave Miley ALOOOOOOOOOONE!!!!"

  24. kambri, i'mma let you finish, but chris crocker had the best 'leave (insert artist) alone' line of all time.

  26. I'm also with pwner. Suicide jokes are all fun and games until someone you love does it.

  27. What I don't get is the incredible meanness in our culture these days. It's disturbing. I like Enty's site, because he isn't cruel like that 'P' guy. I'm assuming many of those who are hating on a young girl are well out of Junior High School and are likely grown adults. Stop eating our young. Most teenagers are obnoxious and full of energy. My god, give the girl a break. She's donating her time and influence towards suicide prevention. WTF have you done lately?

    ReplyDelete
  28. Also, I should mention that I'm grateful. Both my father and brother committed suicide. It's not really all that funny when it happens to someone you love.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I've never had an opinion one way or the other about her but I thought MC was kind of adorable in this PSA...I also agree - it's bizarre to see so many adults attack a teenager...

    ReplyDelete
  30. Actually MadLyb, I've don't a lot lately. Did you make your donation to help Haiti yet? I wonder if Miley has?

And yes yes yes, "yeah Miley" for putting your face out there for suicide prevention.

My post wasn't meant as an attack on our youth, or her specifically, I was merely suggesting that perhaps she was not the best choice for an organization that is doing great things and needs public support.

And from the clip, it doesn't really look like she was taking it too seriously. But what do I know?

  31. I love Joaquin. Welcome back, hot as ever. And for such a good cause!
