National Enquirer Blind Item

THIS 60-something stage and film star was caught in a hotel room wearing a dress and makeup! The Oscar winner, who married a popular ’80s teen actress, attracted attention after guests called about a loud commotion in one of the rooms. When security and hotel management arrived, the actor shocked everyone by opening the door in full drag. He claimed he was doing research for an acting role, but no one bought it. Who is Mr. Dress-up?

  1. Is Kevin Kline 60?

  2. If so, 'special needs blind.'

  3. My thought exactly. Phoebe, come get your man!

  4. Wow, he was born in 1947---old enough to be my dad. He looks good.

  5. And is anyone surprised by this, if it IS KK?
He keeps his shit tight, doesn't court intrusion into his private business. Who cares about adults having adult hobbies?

  6. I'm wondering how a man makes so much noise putting on hose and a wig that an entire building is thrown into upheaval. That's some loud cross-dressing!

  7. I love Kevin Kline, in pants or a dress. I need to watch Soapdish again. One of the funniest movies of all time. Great manic turn by RDJ too. Classic over the top performances by Sally Field and Elisabeth Shue.

    1. Whoopi was good in that too as a writer. Remember they told her she had to write a certain charactor back in, and whoopi's saying," but she has no head!" lol

  9. Who ever it is they have plenty of company...

  10. Matthew Broderick?

  11. Ehhh...Are people really that shocked by cross-dressing anymore? Especially anyone working in that industry? I agree that KK seems like a great fit for this. I'd LOVE to be at a party with that guy!

  12. I wouldnt call Phoebe Cates a popular 80's actress. She only made 8 films and only 2 were popular....unless that's Enty's definition of popular.

Must be Kevin Klein who married teen star Phoebe Cates, and they're still married. I loved him in The Emperor's Club with a young Emile Hirsch.

  14. @Barton Fink, now you have me imagining Kevin Kline raging at his wig like Charlie Sheen at a hooker. "Get on my HEAD!!!"

  15. Why does everyone think this is KK?
    What am I missing?

  16. @lazyday, thanks for reminding me of Soapdish! I'm going to download that tonight.

@whocaresnow12, Phoebe Cates' appearance in Fast Times at Ridgemont High is a classic. That one memorable role is enough to make her a great actress of the 80s.

  17. Broderick is only 50 years old, not "60-something".

  18. I knew immediately this was Kevin Kline, and I never know these, ha. Well, if he opened the door to security in drag, he couldn't have been TOO worried about it, so good for him!

  19. KK in A Fish Called Wanda--PRICELESS.

  20. Nothing wrong with thayt Do you boy

  21. Sanpdragon - you beat me to it!!! DISAPPOINTED! And in spite of how stupid his character was, KK was so hot!

Definitely KK, Phoebe was wildly beloved, still is by those who knew her when she acted, people were upset when she dropped acting.

  22. must be Kevin Klein

  23. @Barton, guessing the "loud commotion" was the dress-up party he was having. my ex does this. they bring tons of wigs, clothes, etc., and then have a big party with everyone trying things on. one time my kids to visit and my ex didn't realize they were coming. they walked in on all the stuff used to transform a man into what looks like a woman. its really quite elaborate, the way they tape-up and use forms to get in drag.

  24. Yup, Kevin Klien. Go figure.

  25. Phoebe Cates launched a whole generation of boys into self love, just from her Fast Times role. This is Kevin Kline for certain, and is anyone surprised? Btw, include me in the list of Siapdish fans. That movie was hilarious, and got me through alot of sad days

  26. Absolutely love Kevin Kline. And yeah, who cares about cross dressing??? It's perfectly harmless!

Loved Soapdish and Fish Called Wanda. Also liked him in some movie I saw recently - he was a professor in a boarding school - he was so good.

  27. I'm with the "who cares" contingent. Love, love, love KK in A Fish Called Wanda. I have seen that movie so many times and he makes me laugh like a fool each time.

  28. Kelsy Grammer sure seems like a fit to me

  29. @SusanB
Agreed! what harm is there? The man is an awesome actor no matter how he dresses in his personal life!

  30. If you want to see a great KK movie -- see In and Out. I fell in love with him all over again. And I loved him in French Kiss AND he sings in that one....love him!

  31. Reading these comments makes me realize that KK is beloved by all. Isn't it great? He's like the only one from Hollywood that hobody has a bad thing to say about!

  32. @Cindy - forgot about In & Out - I loved that movie!

  33. Kevin Klein.

And, yes, Phoebe Cates was super popular. That scene in Fast Times alone brought in more $ to Universal than most actors make in a lifetime.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I love him in "I love you to death" one of my favorites!

  35. I hope Phoebe was with him, dressed as Errol Flynn. I LOVE LOVE LOVE them. She's stunning and sweet, and I LOVE that she married that brilliant, phenomenally talented, sweet puppy dog of a man. I hope they are blissfully happy. KK is always priceless, but, Fish Called Wanda?! Pfft - Cinematic PERFECTION. Absolute top three - along w/ Best in Show and ... can't say - it'll out my anonymity ;) p.s. Soapdish is my favorite bubblegum guilty pleasure - LOVED that movie. Even Hatcher was good in it. Whoopi, Sally, all of 'em - just mockery gold. Hope you're having fun, KK & PC!! btw - whoever said above that PC wasn't popular must be under the age of 25. Every red-blooded male in the free world wanted her, and the women wanted to look like her. That scene was Nicolette Sheridan's milk commercial on steriods AND crack and did in 30 seconds what the entire Flashdance movie took 2hrs to do - times a gazillion.

  36. Since many are talking about movies they loved, I want to mention one of my all time favorites: Tune in Tomorrow. It is so funny. Still so funny. Please find it and watch it if you can. On You Tube or Netflix. It has nothing to do with this blind. No clue about it. Just reminded me of this movie that I love.

  37. Don't forget Sophie's Choice. Klein was toe to toe with Streep in that one.

Saw him do Hamlet at the Public Theater eons ago. Phoebe was in the audience. He's a great actor no matter what he wears.

  38. Since we are talking movies, you have to see Princess Cariboo. More of a Phoebe movie, but Kevin is very memorable and it is such an underated movie. Very funny, but some good serious moments in it too. Highly recommended.

  39. @trudi: I'd forgotten his pivotal role in Sophie's Choice. He was superb and it is one of my all-time favorite movies. It's just that when I think of it, I can only focus on Streep.

Second all the high-fives for In and Out. It was never going to be nominated for best picture, but it is a really enjoyable movie. Joan Cusack and Tom Selleck were so funny.

I have no idea why everyone thinks Kevin Kline is a cross-dresser and less idea about why we should care.

  40. "Hail to the chief, He's the one we all say "Hail" to.
We all say "Hail" cause he keeps himself so clean..."

Love Kevin Kline. On Talk Like a Pirate Day, he will always be my Pirate King.

  41. Count me in as another Kevin Kline fan, The Big Chill is one of my favorite movies that he was in!

  42. Love, love, love Kevin Kline. He's in some of the best movies ever. Sophie's Choice-there aren't enough words for how good this movie was. Dave - we're walking, we're walking... Soapdish - hysterical. A Fish Called Wanda - seriously funny. Who cares what Kevin does, as long as he's happy.

  43. I have had long time love for KK. Not many will give him credit for this, but when I sat down and watched the Pink Panther with him and Steve Martin, KK had me laughing the whole time! Loved him even more for that funny "kiddy" role. Loved when he said, "He's peerrffeect!"...LOL.

  44. Soapdish! Ohhh, forgot about that one, gonna have to watch it again soon! Also, LOVE A Fish CalledWanda & I Love You to Death! Damn, Kevin Kline is the man! :)

    ReplyDelete
  45. I'm on the train for the KK love! If he was cross-dressing, I couldn't care in the least.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Oh....the Pirate King from Pirates of Penzance.

Just watched Sophie's Choice a week ago--what a beautiful young man he was.

Bet he looked fantastic in drag if it was him.

  47. Love Kevin Kline! He's always great but I have a special place in my heart for Soapdish! So many great actors and funny lines! Love RDJ in it too. And Phoebe was one of the IT girls of the 80s! There's Fast Times, Gremlins, Date with an Angel, Princess Caraboo! So many great roles!

  48. Phoebe is in my favorite need-a-pick-me-up

    Drop Dead Fred.

    I lover it so much

  49. Not that it was a great role or anything, but I seem to remember him wearing a dress in 'Wild Wild West'.

God, now I have that song stuck in my head.

  50. This is not the first time I have seen this here, but I love it when people here comment on a blind that we "think" we have solved, if the person isn't an asshole in RL, we turn the thread into a movie recommendation chat.

In all my life, I have never met Kevin Cline or Phoebe Bates, but after reading some of the comments, they remind me of all the movies they both have been in that I want to see again. Soapdish and Dave (both great movies) are on my rewatch list now. Thanks guys!
