He is on and off the number one movie star of all time box office wise. So, of course this former A list mostly movie actress who is an Academy Award winner/nominee doesn't even remember working with him, or really anyone else that isn't convenient to her story which she always shares. There is quite possibly no other move actress who has been more into herself and cares less about others.

DeleteSamuel may have been in some of the biggest movies of all-time but I'm pretty sure he wasn't the headline star in most of them, so Entern because he was part of a cast that makes HIM the biggest off and on of all-time, and NOT someone like a Tom Cruise who was THE star of most of his big movies??

DeleteSLJ has been in tons of Marvel movies, then there's Star Wars movies, etc etc. He may not be the leading man, but the movies he is in, make A LOT of money. That's why he's number one. This is actually a fact.

There is likely some extra or minor character actor who is the true #1 if you use Box Office.

SLJ is top box office by sheer dint of the fact that his movies (total) have grossed the most money. Harrison Ford is #2.

ReplyDeleteIf you're in every film, good and bad, it's not unrealistic you'd make it on some top 10 list, some where. He's a consistent, reliable actor and you know what you'll get when you see him in the cast of a film. I keep trying to like Paltrow but she's such a phony and a shob whose only had a few good roles in 20 plus years. Cate should have won the Oscar for Elizabeth.

Samuel Jackson floats with Tom Hanks, and Morgan Freeman and Harrison Ford.. They are in the 8 billion plus club. Part of being in the club is to make movies. Tom Cruise is in the 7 billion plus club but like many actors, isn't higher because he's lazy. His penchant for blockbusters means his acting hasn't improved over time. He's as wooden an actor as he ever has been. Not that he couldn't do it. He just doesn't do it.
ReplyDeleteThe above actors treat acting like any other job. They don't take much time off. As Samuel L says: "it's a job. I get up and report to a set. I take a yearly two week vacation. Can't stand it. I don't think my job is special. I'm a hard working guy".
Looking at the average gross per movie is fascinating. Some actors are magic.
Makes sense to me.

ReplyDeleteShe is just stupid, really. I have a friend who worked in admissions for a high end university Goop wanted to attend. She was an airhead during the interview and said friend said NOPE despite her parents being donors, etc. She is just stupid. Oh and really shallow. Many people are. Hate to say it but that's the truth.
ReplyDeleteBeing in the same movie does not mean "acting" together. Both SLJ and Goop were in Avengers Endgame. No scenes together, no dialog together. So why should she be expected to remember "working" with him?
