This show has been a hotbed of drama since it began, and not just because of the juicy scripts, which usually involve plot lines about people who are not heterosexual (to tell you which gender would make it too easy). Because of its popularity, the show has attracted numerous guest stars who are either “out” or merely comfortable with a degree of sexual ambiguity. In casting circles, it has been something of a hot ticket. But of course, behind the scenes, the petty jealousies and rampant insecurities of some of the cast members have had the crew alternately walking on eggshells and rolling their eyes. So if you've ever wondered why a certain gay music icon has never had a guest starring role (and never will), it is not for lack of willingness on their part. It just so happens one of the more demanding series leads had a long term relationship with said icon that ended badly, and not only is the well-liked singer not welcome, the crew are under strict orders to immediately shut off the radio any time the singer's music comes on the air.

*This one came to me yesterday, is barely blind and will probably be public before the end of the day so guess quickly.**
So this once married singer and his girlfriend were getting on the elevator at their apartment when an older gentleman was coming out. As the gentleman exited the elevator, he stopped, grabbed his chest and fell down in front of them. The man managed to whisper to the singer that he had left his medication in his apartment. Our singer grabbed the keys and headed to the apartment while his girlfriend dialed 911. Our singer came back and gave the elderly man a pill and stayed with him until the paramedics arrived. The man was hospitalized overnight and then released.

Four For Friday - The Good, The Bad And The Ugly - The Ugly - Anniversary Month
"You have to come see this. It is a s**t show." That was the message I got on my phone from this celebrity offspring of a permanent A lister. She was filming a reality show. Not her usual thing. Oh, once in awhile because of her last name she will be invited on a show as a guest, but this was a series and for that season one of the stars.
When I called her back, she started to go into detail about what she meant, but at some point said this is something you have to see to believe because, "I understand no sane person would believe this without seeing it." It was the goings on from the biggest name on the show. On a show where even Dancing With The Stars wouldn't cast their net, this actor was the biggest fish. Honestly, now that I think about it, DWTS might try and land him. Well, they would if they could get him away from his straight to On Demand career. Hey, at least he works. Back when all of this happened he was a decade removed from his biggest success, but he had that name, which on a show like this was all important.
The show generally just filmed once or twice a week and the next week after her call I went down to the set with her to see what was going on. The first thing I saw when I got over by the trailers, was our actor with a cast iron skillet slamming it against the trailer. He was holding it with two hands while screaming, "Where the f**k is my breakfast. Someone better bring me my f**king breakfast." Over and over for ten minutes until some harried production assistant brought him a bag of McDonald's. Yep. He opened it up and looked inside. Apparently it was to his satisfaction because he then screamed, "How f**king hard was that." He then tossed the skillet to the ground and walked inside his trailer.
He was supposed to start shooting 30 minutes later. When a different production assistant went to the trailer to get him, our actor opened up the door fully naked and screamed, "Does it look like I'm f**king ready to shoot?" He then slammed the door. Two minutes later the door opened and his soon to be wife was kicked out the door and pushed down the stairs by the actor's foot. He started screaming at her and calling her every possible name you could imagine. She looked rough and her clothes were torn and makeup smeared.
Five minutes after that he emerged from his trailer fully clothed, totally calm and asked very politely where he needed to go. The civility lasted about an hour. He then started getting super antsy and was talking back to the director. He walked off the set and started smoking a cigarette. Then another. People kept trying to get him to come back. Oh, he went back alright. They were filming this competition scene and he took this weight lifting bar that holds weights on either end. It weighed about 45 pounds. He started swinging that thing around. He missed a couple of people by inches and broke chairs and lights and a couple of abandoned cameras. His eyes were insane. His hair was flying around and he kept circling like a samurai with the bar held up with two hands. Finally he walked back to his trailer taking swings at people or things in his way. He walked inside the trailer where you could hear the destruction. He walked out with a few of his things and walked to his car and drove off. No one ever saw him on the set again.

He thinks he can beat the system and drive, but also knows he better not get caught. To try and appear less noticeable, our actor has an old beat up Hyundai Accent he drives around town while wearing a hat and sunglasses. **I don't think he's quite thought through the whole getting out of the car thing though.**

The tabs said that gf paired off with another guy not her bf but they were also wrong. Turns out gf had her eyes set on the rich guy in the corner who she thought would be just right. Today's Blind Items - The Good, The Bad And The Ugly - The Bad - Anniversary Month
In contrast to yesterday's good, this bad happened fairly recently. I have probably seen several thousand bands play over the years. Anything ranging from a dive bar to a stadium. One thing a band learns early on is that if you have a popular song, you need to play it in your shows or people won't come to the next show. From a marketing, ticket selling, make fans happy kind of perspective I HATE when bands get all high and mighty about their past hits. They need to realize that even one hit wonders have made an entire career based off that hit. The way they did it though was to sing the hell out of that song at every show and make sure people enjoyed the performance of that song so much, they would willingly wade through an hour of songs they don't know. Why are cover bands so successful? They play songs everyone knows.
Madonna and U2 can get away with not playing every hit song you want them to perform and they hate singing because they have so many hit songs you like hearing and they like performing. It sucks for people who maybe want to hear their earliest stuff, but even Madonna will usually throw you a "Holiday" bone.
Not that long ago I saw that an old friend was playing in a series I enjoy seeing from time to time. It is a bit outside of LA up in wine country. Sideways wine country, not Napa. Got my ticket and e-mailed him to tell him I was coming and would love to catch up. I even offered to write up something if he wanted. This is where I knew something was up. He has always been a bit quirky. He wrote me back and said something about having a new record coming out in the fall and felt that if he talked then he would have nothing left to say in the fall because he had to center himself and place himself in some type of zone for what he felt would be constant demands for his time from journalists about said release. Not happened so far by the way.
The second indication that he had turned into some person he thought he was based on his past rather than his current was something I saw and heard a couple of minutes before he noticed me. He was talking to a guy and a very attractive woman walked up to our singer and they hugged and he said he was glad she could come. He then said to get him a drink. As she walked away the guy complimented the singer and the singer said, "I knew there wouldn't be anyone here worth banging so I invited her." As she came back to the table with drinks, he grabbed her ass. That was about the time I made my way over to the table. For a minute it was like the old days. We were both making a lot of money from each other and had a ton of fun, drunken nights together and he really cared about fans.
Looking back to those times, I guess I could see it coming. The band had big success for a couple of years. Modest success for five or six. He was always trying to use that success to get him solo success. It has never happened. Not even close. He makes his living by living off what he and the band did whether he wants to admit it or not.
Show time. The people there were expecting one thing. What they got was completely another. What started out as excitement became people looking at their watches wondering when this was going to end. One solo song after the next. No one knew one word to any of the songs. There is nothing wrong with his talent or his songwriting. He just is so into himself now that he can't fathom why people don't love his songs. He forces them on the audience. There is this attitude much like The Goopster. If you don't like this, than there is something wrong with you and it is not my fault.
There was actually an intermission and I went up to him and said he should play a few of the band's songs. He had to get the audience on his side. I knew there was no way he would sing their biggest hits. I suggested a couple that fans would love and maybe he would play those. He said he would think about it.
Back to playing and boring the audience. Finally after another 30 minutes of solo ego boosting he asked the audience for a request. They would call out a song name and he would say no. Ten straight times maybe. He finally picked one. It was an obscure song from one of their worst performing records that no one but the most ardent of fans would ever know. He just didn't get it.
His ego won't let him accept the fact that the band's success allowed him to be playing there solo that night. All he had to do was throw in one band song for every four solo songs. That would have made the audience happy and would have kept them involved and more responsive to the solo efforts.
After the show I actually heard him tell the woman he brought how amazing he was that night. Nope. Things are so ego driven with him right now that he won't even mention the band in promos for shows. It is all about him. I didn't look at his tour rider for that night but I bet it was extensive and pretentious. I'm sure most of it was ignored, but he would get great satisfaction just knowing it was written for him.
I don't care of he gets the band back together. He was just an up close and personal reminder that fame can be an ugly thing. You get it in your head that you are bigger than the show or franchise or band. That you are the reason for success and no one else. The lesson that you are not, can be a hard lesson, and in this case, one that may never be learned.

I don't care of he gets the band back together. He was just an up close and personal reminder that fame can be an ugly thing. You get it in your head that you are bigger than the show or franchise or band. That you are the reason for success and no one else. The lesson that you are not, can be a hard lesson, and in this case, one that may never be learned.

This B list actress has always had a career with lots of starts and stops. At one point everyone she was the next big thing. At some point though, her moods and her sexual orientation caused her to lose a few parts that she would have otherwise been given. Now, with her career back on track and concerns about which team she plays for mostly irrelevant, there is a new problem she is being forced to face. Face literally. She was given some bad botox injections and has had some intermittent problems moving her facial muscles. Right now doctors are taking a wait and see attitude to her most recent outbreak, but our actress is really afraid she will start to sputter again and never get back.

Today's Blind Items - The Good, The Bad And The Ugly - The Good - Anniversary Month
Over the next three days, I will tell you about the good, the bad, and the ugly. Today is the good. I have written about her once before in multiple parts. Here is part one and part two.
In part one of that blind I told you I met JL at an outdoor concert. I never told you the details of that day. It was a festival of sorts and I had planned on doing a lot of drinking. One of my friends picked me up that day in anticipation of me not being able to drive home. At the festival I am introduced to JL. She will always be an A lister to me and I have no problems calling her a permanent A lister. My friend knows her and introduces us. We start talking and talking and talking. My friend meanwhile, the supposedly sober one on this day is throwing back booze. A lot of booze. At the same time, I am not exactly felling great. I am really starting to feel sick and am having trouble focusing. I have had nothing to drink. The friend I came with has bailed by this point and I have no idea where he has gone. I really want to go home because of how bad I am feeling. I start wondering where I can get a cab when JL offers to take me home. It is on the way to her place and she can tell I'm sick.
We get to my place and she asks if she can quickly use the bathroom. She comes up and while she is in the bathroom I curl up in a ball on the tiled entryway to my apartment. Several hours later I wake up there with a blanket over me. JL is in my living room watching television. I literally met this person earlier that day but for the next two days she basically camps out at my place. She takes me to the doctor. Strep. Gets me food and medicine and gives up her life for 48 hours. I later found out she canceled a show because she thought I was too sick to be left alone. I spent the next five years trying to thank her.

And here you thought Naomi Campbell was a bad boss. This B actress is the biggest control freak in LA. She is the boss of her relationship and everyone knows it because she tells them. She also tells her man what to do at all times. She decides what work he should take and what he should turn down. She hires his assistants for him and generally only hires men. She burns through her own assistants and staff at a blistering pace. Her poor husband is always trailing behind her. Not only because she wants him there, but also so he can try and clean up some of the damage she does and offer his apologies. Most of the time she does not see his efforts. However, recently, she overheard him apologizing to a waiter for her behavior, and she let loose on her man right in the middle of the restaurant She just screamed at him right in front of the crowd of people. Her control freak instincts have also led to diminished roles and lesser movies. She has been forced to hope for sequels to movies she has been in previously, just to get enough work.

Another quick one to end the day. It is amazing what happens over NYE that everyone sees but no one wants to say anything. Just like the first item, this one happened over the weekend. This brand new actress who got her start in the adult magazine business and a little television has been making the rounds doing publicity for her first solo movie role. She had been advertised as the next big thing. The next big thing however was scary. She shocked everyone at her dinner table Sunday night by talking while eating, making loud comments about the food and the way it taste, looked and felt, that were making people ill. In addition she kept telling everyone how much her new breasts cost and who she had slept with to get her role and comparing it to what she has previously had to do and who. What was supposed to be a coming out party with all the right people is forcing her manager to send her back and hope she gets some finishing touches.

Today's Blind Items - Life On The Road
This month marks the 10th anniversary of the site, so each weekday in the big blind, I will do what everyone seems to like the most (other than shipper fans) and write about things that happened to me or that I was there to witness that you would find interesting. Many, like today, will be music related. I have seen some crazy things happen when a band or singer is on the road. These are the top 4 things I have seen and not yet told you about from bands or singers you could realistically guess. So, despite the goodness that abounds in stories about groups like Pavement or The Sundays or Ned's Atomic Dustbin, they won't find their way in here.
#1 - There was this now deceased former A list singer who had two women alternating orally servicing him while he he carefully lit his spoonful of heroin, drew it into a needle and found a vein. He timed it so he reached orgasm at the same time the drug went into his arm.
#2 - This group used to be A+ list. The group still exists, but it has gone through so many changes, it just hasn't been the same since the original breakup. Anyway, when the band got back together, they went on tour to support their first new record in awhile. They had a sold out show and the band didn't start playing until three hours after their scheduled time. Reason? They were playing Monopoly. With real money. None of them trusted the other to leave the game alone while they performed so they sat there in their bus playing and drinking for three hours until the game concluded. They then went in to perform but were so wasted from drinking they lasted about 20 minutes before calling it quits.
#3 - This singer was for the briefest of times A list. His story makes it in here just because the people that loved his group love this guy. A lot. Two great albums. The group made other records but people talk about these two. Anyway, I was at a show watching them play and the singer's girlfriend, who of course was a model, kept motioning him to come to the stage where, apparently she was giving him tips and notes about his performance. This was happening every few minutes. Finally he walks over to the side of the stage, takes off his guitar and starts hitting her with it. She crumples to the ground and he gets in one more big swing before people tackle him to the ground. Oh, the band is still playing while all of this is going on. The girlfriend gets carried backstage. The singer grabs his guitar and goes back on stage and finishes the song after about the 10th time through for the band and acts like nothing happened. A month later I was asking the road manager about the girlfriend and if she was ok and what had happened. Turns out, two days after he beat her they got married.
#4 - I have seen some awful behavior by bands. Things that would make your stomach turn, but this British band is by far the worst when it comes to human decency. I will focus on the most well known member of the band. You all know who he is. If you have read gossip sites for any length of time, you know who he is. I was there with the band for just two days. Just two. This member we are discussing did the following over the course of the two days to groupies. a) Made a female teen take a handful of unknown pills and get naked before making her orally service three other guys before her chance with him. When she did get to him he slapped her and told her she was ugly and a w**re. Later, he found her passed out from the drugs he had given her. He spray painted the word w**re on her naked body. b) Made a male teen get naked and get peed on by multiple guys before our band member took a microphone and inserted it into the teen's anal cavity. c) The forced ingesting of unknown drugs was common. Pills, smoking, snorting. The more innocent they looked, the more he would make them do. He said he loved getting people addicted. d) He made women have sex with other women or guys and guys have sex with other guys. His combination imagination was extensive.

Whenever she visits other people’s homes, she just cannot leave the valuables alone. More than once she has been confronted by her hosts or other guests as she takes whatever items will fit into her purse. If it were just little things, no one would mind because she does bring the supplies for the party. However, she has a bit more expensive taste than just the odd knick knack. She has a fondness for diamonds and other fine jewelry.

On a recent flight from NYC to LA this top tier television host had to do the walk of shame through First Class on the way to the back of the plane. First Class was full and in some of those seats were celebrities who this talk show host had mocked and made fun of in the past. Although they did not utter a peep, the celebrities did manage a snicker or two as the talk show host averted his eyes and pretended something was wrong with his carry on bag. That walk can take forever with all those eyes focused right on you.

She was at that line between illegal and barely legal. She is a foreign born B list singer who has probably risen as high as A-. Fame and success are fickle things though and right now she is in a valley. She has talent other than singing so she will be able to make a living in the music business. It remains to be seen if she will ever climb out of the valley as a performer. She has some issues. Probably for good reason. She is still young. What happened to her is still fresh in her mind. She does like her drugs and booze and parties. Back when she was just starting to get a whisper of fame in her own country, she had the opportunity to meet this former A+ list singer (in a group) who is probably permanently A list in his own country. She was star struck. He offered to work with her. Apparently she believed him. One thing led to another and the married former A+ lister got the much much younger singer pregnant. He tried to buy her off with $500 to get an abortion. He threatened her career if she ever said anything to anyone and especially his wife. Our young singer did tell people. Not so many who got her pregnant, but that she was. Her new record label was ticked off. They sent her away. They didn't want anyone to know because they saw an image for her and pregnant teenager was not part of that image. So, she left. Alone. They sent her overseas and she went. Alone for almost a year in an apartment in a city where she had never been before. Her mom flew out right before the baby was born and given up for adoption. A week later they flew back home together and she started recording a new record.

Just another silly/fun one. This still hanging on to A+ list mostly movie actress who is an Academy Award winner/nominee gave several fans the time of their lives the other day. Our actress was doing promotional work but there was no energy so she went to a wine tasting store/restaurant next door and found a group of women to come watch her. She also drank wine with them and for two hours she told story after story and answered any question they wanted asked and that group of women will be sharing their tale for the rest of their lives. Just a ton of fun.
