My coworkers and I play recurring strippers on the second season of a tv series. Our costumes range from bras, thongs, and thigh highs to traditional stripper monokinis, g-strings, and leg wraps depending on the scene. We're always in "stripper heels" (Pleaser, Bordelo, lucite platforms, etc) and, when not on camera, are always in cover robes or our personal long jackets. Being a burlesque dancer, as most of my coworkers are also, we do these kind of roles pretty often, but having a recurring gig that pays daily about the same as a weekly show does is pretty rad.
The director of the first episode we were on, who is also the Executive Producer, took a liking to us on the first day, which isn't uncommon. Usually casting sends in girls that are just "hot" and can dance, but we are a group of professionals and know how to make the right faces and how to play to camera. He spoke with us individually to find out our stories and what we do for a living and, by the end of the day, had given us his personal number to ensure that we were cast as the "core group" from now on. Now, I know that this isn't the way it's supposed to be done, but it's really not uncommon. I've regularly had Directors of Photography and Directors alike do the same so that I could contact we could remain in contact for future productions as a stand in, photo double, for a quick part, etc. It shouldn't, but it happens.
Now, all of that preface work to get to this: while he is personally ensuring that we get good camera time and are cast every time they need strippers (this show needs them a lot), he has asked some of us for "[our] picture", "sexy pics", "some pictures", etc. We all have professional photos that are already on our websites and instagrams, so we just sent those to keep the relationship above water without sacrificing our dignity. Yesterday, I was the only one of the main crew there and, while having him on set ensured that I got great coverage and was treated really well generally, he texted me later asking me to text him this weekend "if [I] wanna grab a drink ora coffee".
I know that he's just a creepy old man and we shouldn't have to comply, yada yada, but sadly this is how the industry is for women, especially women who play strippers, escorts, hookers, etc. People on set seem to forget that we're just actors and not really the people we play, so we suffer this kind of harassment regularly. Please don't try to tell me that I just shouldn't play these characters or give me "fatherly advice". That's not what I'm asking for here. I'm fully aware of how things should work, but it rarely ever does work that way.
Definitely has to be NCIS.

Four For Friday - Drugs And A Yoko - The End Of A Boy Band - Part One
If I had to guess at how many bands I have seen play over the years, it would be in the thousands. Probably not ten thousand, but definitely getting into the upper ranges of four digits. How many of those bands are still together? Maybe 100. OK it could be 200. A lot of the bands I saw were club bands trying to make it big, so maybe they are still together and still playing clubs somewhere. Most just die of natural causes. I know everyone likes to think there are always these nasty fights. Sure, there are those, but most are because the band is going nowhere and someone needs to get a job so someone else comes in and that person gets along with someone else in the band so they break off and do their own thing, leaving the others to do their own thing. You want to make a band last? Start a cover band. Those things last forever. Oh, and they also pay the best. If you can look and sound the part, you will be making six figures a year easy. Oh, and you can make it until you decide you don't want to do it anymore. Cover bands are always popular because you are singing songs every person in the audience knows so they are having a good time. When the audience has a good time they remember it and tell their friends. Anyway, this is not about a cover band. It is about a band that showed a lot of promise. A boy band that by all rights should still be at it today. They had a couple of things going against them. Drugs and a Yoko. A proper, break up the band Yoko.
When I was called, it was by an insurance company. The management company of the band was trying to buy insurance. Why? To protect themselves if they booked a tour and the band split. Whether or not the management company was trying to overstate how much they were going to earn from a tour (they were) was not really relevant. The insurance company could make sure they made their own money. Their big issues was whether the band was even together. They initially thought this whole thing might have just been a scam to make money off the breakup of a band. Schedule some shows. The band breaks up and everyone walks away with a huge pile of money for just pretending they like each other for a few days. Even that would be ok for the company, but they wanted to know so they could charge an outrageous premium and then sell the policy to some other company. They wanted me to go see the band. Meet with everyone and figure out what was really going on.
I knew who the band was before I met them. I had heard most of their songs, but they were a boy band and I didn't really care if they stayed or if they went. There would be someone else to take their place. The band was in a stage I like to call breakup make up. It is the same as a relationship you have been in with someone for a long time. You are so used to being with that person that it is tough to just go cold turkey. Things are much easier if you stay with the person rather than leave. You know what happens if you stay and leaving is the unknown. The unknown is always hard. Well, hard unless you have someone on the side waiting. If one of the people in the relationship is really anxious to be moving on, chances are good, no matter how much they deny it, that they have someone on the side just waiting. You go to call them a week later and they have already found someone. Hell, they might have already moved in with the other person.
If there is not another person, then things take a different path. You might stop by to pick up some of your things. Some ex sex occurs. There are probably texts or other missives where you tell each other how much you miss the other. There are some short lived reunions and then they sputter it out. The intervals between these reunions becomes greater until one day, you both have moved on.
There is nothing different between that and a relationship breakup. You have the member of a band that has already been seeing another record company or manager. Perhaps there is talk of an acting career but the music would get in the way. Boom, one day they are there and the next they have a solo record coming out in a week and the person can't remember if your name is Rance or Lance.
The band I was dealing with had a little bit of both, The nominal front person of the group wanted to do other things. Had done other things. Thought they were better than everyone else in the group and he was being held back. Why did he think these things? People who wanted to make money off him and his Yoko. A Yoko who had dreams of her own. Big dreams. She really had wanted to be a Bachelorette but couldn't even land a spot on The Bachelor. She was hoping for a reality show and was ticked off she missed the band's brief foray into reality hood. She dreamed of being a singer and is still to this day spending vast sums of money which will never be seen again on a career which will go nowhere. Maybe she thought if he was a solo star she could get the reality show and a singing career while always being in every pap photo. She encouraged his acting career because she thought he could be a huge star and then get her roles or introduce her to people who could get her roles. She HATED the other members of the band and they hated her. Remember how much Rachel McAdams hates SJP's character in Family Stone? Yeah, that is nothing compared to this.
Drug use was rampant among the band and hangers on. The only time they were not doing drugs is when they were boozing. Although, often there was boozing with drugs. The thing with the band was they had not been together all that long. We are talking three years or so. They didn't have piles of money saved up. They needed to stay together and go on tour or at least pretend they were going to so they all could get paid.
Coming up on Monday, go with me as I travel to three cities with these f**kers and get drunk with some guys from college who I think now work for a drug cartel.

The parents of a 9-year-old boy who was shot in the head in their Phoenix home put off calling 911 as they cleaned up evidence in multiple rooms of the house, police said Wednesday, calling it a case that "shocks your conscience."
Wendy Lavarnia told police that her 2-year-old son found a gun on a bed and accidentally shot his older brother Monday. Police cast doubt on her story as they launched a murder investigation against the 28-year-old woman and her ex-convict husband, Kansas Lavarnia.
Police became suspicious of the mother's story when they found inconsistencies in her account and when the boy's father showed up at the home with a crudely bandaged gunshot wound on his upper arm. The wound appeared to have been punctured multiple times to camouflage the injury, possibly with a screwdriver.
Police declined to specify the mother's inconsistencies or say who they think shot the boy and his father. It's unclear whether the couple is represented by lawyers who can speak on their behalf.
Authorities said the parents delayed medical care for their son to clean up evidence in the house. Police declined to say whether they believe the boy would be alive had authorities been alerted sooner.
But a probable-cause statement filed by police says the lack of visible blood and the extent of blood residue suggested that a significant amount of time had passed before authorities were called.
"We have a 9-year-old critically wounded, shot in the head, in dire need of lifesaving efforts and care, which was delayed and not provided to this young man," police Sgt. Vince Lewis said. "It definitely shocks your conscience."
Lewis declined to specify how evidence was cleaned up in several rooms at the house.
The father's appearance at the home three hours after officers started investigating was suspicious because he was injured, Lewis said. Police say they found evidence of blood in the trunk of the vehicle that Kansas Lavarnia drove to the house.
He is accused of first-degree murder, child abuse and hindering prosecution. Wendy Lavarnia is accused of first-degree murder, court documents said. Prosecutors have not yet charged the couple.
Karate Teacher Accused Of Molesting Boys - Now Accused Of Trying To Have Them Killed
An inmate in Pittsburgh is accused of plotting the murders of five juveniles who accused him of sexual assault.
Michael Scherbanic, 29, is now charged with 27 new criminal counts, including solicitation to commit criminal homicide.
Pittsburgh police said they uncovered an elaborate criminal plot to intimidate victims, recruit witnesses to perjure themselves and prevent the trial against Scherbanic for sexual-assault.
According to a criminal complaint, Scherbanic told his cellmate he’d pay him as much as $1 million to carry out the plan.
The five targets of the alleged murder plot were five separate victims of sexual assault cases filed against Scherbanic in 2016, police said.
Those cases involve juvenile male students of Scherbanic’s karate dojo, the “Tang Soo Do Karate College."
The complaint said Scherbanic drew diagrams of one of the target’s homes to show his cellmate where a propane tank was that could “be exploded to kill multiple residents.”
Scherbanic also laid out people that the cellmate could recruit to help him carry out the plot as well as hide the bodies, the complaint said.
There were also plans to destroy the creditability of someone who was going to testify against Scherbanic in the sex-assault trial. Sherbanic told his cellmate to “plant drugs, or a gun or possibly child porn,” the complaint said.
Scherbanic was charged with involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, unlawful contact with a minor, indecent assault, endangering the welfare of children, corruption of minors and indecent assault in those cases.
The complaint said Scherbanic had been stashing ground up pain pills in his cell in case the plan did work, so he could commit suicide.

A Texas high school anatomy teacher has been arrested for allegedly having an improper relationship with a student. The Lockhart Police Department said 27-year-old Sarah Fowlkes of Lockhart High School "engaged in sexual contact" with a 17-year-old male student earlier this month. Police told NBC Austin affiliate KXAN Fowlkes turned herself in on Monday and bonded out later that day. Fowlkes' attorney Jason Nassour said, "You've got a young lady who was arrested on the statement of a 17-year-old kid with no corroborating evidence."
Nassour said his client is smiling in her mug shot because she is innocent. He added that "this isn't a guilty person sitting there like they just got caught. When everything's fleshed out it won't be as it appears."
TX Teen Admits Gang Rape Story Was A Hoax
An 18-year-old Texas woman's claim that she was abducted and assaulted two weeks ago were a hoax, Denison police said Wednesday. The incident caused a whirlwind of speculation in the town near the Oklahoma border after the bloody woman ran into a church wearing only a shirt, bra and underwear and lied about two black men raping her while a third held her down, Denison Police Chief Jay Burch said. The woman, identified as Breana Harmon Talbott, confessed to the hoax Tuesday, Burch said.
Talbott was arrested Wednesday on a charge of making a false report to a peace officer. Police still aren't completely clear on the teen's motive, Denison police Lt. Mike Eppler later said.
In a searing statement, Burch said Talbott caused fear in the area and wasted the department's time and resources. "Breana Harmon Talbott's hoax was also insulting to our community and especially offensive to the African-American community due to her description of the so-called suspects in her hoax. The anger and hurts caused from such a hoax are difficult and so unnecessary." The Denison Police Department also plans to seek restitution for the cost of the investigation. "It's unfortunate a person can falsely report such a major incident in our community that wastes the time of law enforcement and needlessly puts some people in fear," Burch said.

Charlie Sheen told “The Kyle and Jackie O Show” on Wednesday that he knows of other celebrities who are HIV positive but won’t speak out.
Host Jackie O asked him, “Do you think there are more people in Hollywood that have HIV that wouldn't dare come out and say it like you did?”
Sheen replied, “There are, and I know who they are, but I will take that to my grave.”
The 51-year-old revealed in 2015 that he was HIV positive. During his chat with Kyle and Jackie O, he also blasted his ex-“Two and a Half Men” co-star Jenny McCarthy for comments she made about her contact with him on set after he revealed his HIV status.
He said McCarthy spoke too soon when he “came out with the HIV s--t”.

Chuck Barris, whose game show empire included "The Dating Game," ''The Newlywed Game" and that infamous factory of cheese, "The Gong Show," died at 87.
Barris died of natural causes Tuesday afternoon at his home in Palisades, New York, according to publicist Paul Shefrin.
Decades before shows such as "American Idol" and "America's Got Talent" came along, Barris put everyday people who did not mind exposing their vulnerabilities or answering embarrassing questions before the cameras.
He made game show history right off the bat, in 1966, with "The Dating Game," hosted by Jim Lange. The gimmick: a young female questions three males, hidden from her view, to determine which would be the best date. Sometimes the process was switched, with a male questioning three females. But in all cases the questions were designed by the show's writers to elicit sexy answers.
Celebrities and future celebrities who appeared as contestants included Michael Jackson, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Steve Martin and a pre-"Charlie's Angels" Farrah Fawcett, introduced as "an accomplished artist and sculptress" with a dream to open her own gallery.
After the show became a hit on both daytime and nighttime TV, the Barris machine accelerated. New products included "The Newlywed Game," ''The Parent Game," ''The Family Game" and even "The Game Game."
At one point Barris was supplying the television networks with 27 hours of entertainment a week, mostly in five-days-a-week daytime game shows.
The grinning, curly-haired Barris became a familiar face as creator and host of "The Gong Show," which aired from 1976 to 1980.
Patterned after the Major Bowes Amateur Hour show that was a radio hit in the 1930s, the program featured performers who had peculiar talents and, often, no talent at all. When the latter appeared on the show, Barris would strike an oversize gong, the show's equivalent of vaudeville's hook. The victims would then be mercilessly berated by the manic Barris, with a hat often yanked down over his eyes and ears, and a crew of second-tier celebrities.

He cited "30 solid years" of partying for his decision to quit. He also said he felt like the drug was "keeping me from being emotionally available." Still, he had nothing bad to say about marijuana, which he called "a great drug."
The 55-year-old said he still drinks alcohol in moderation.
Harrelson was arrested in 1996 for planting hemp seeds in Kentucky in order to challenge a state law. Hemp is a relative of marijuana, but has a lower concentration of THC, the substance that makes pot smokers high.

Beauty And The Beast Opens With $170M Weekend
Disney's live-action "Beauty" was a beast at the box office, opening with an estimated $170 million in North American ticket sales and setting a new high mark for family movies.
"Beauty and the Beast" blew past the previous record-holder for G- or PG-rated releases, according to studio estimates Sunday. Last year, Disney's "Finding Dory" debuted with a then-PG-best $135 million.
"Beauty and the Beast" felled many other records, too. It's the year's top opening so far and a new best for March releases, and it ranks seventh all-time, not accounting for inflation.
The film, made for about $160 million, is the latest effort by Disney to re-create one of its animated classics with live action and digital effects. The makeover of the 1991 Oscar-winning film follows previous live-action remakes such as "Alice in Wonderland," ''Cinderella," ''Maleficent" and last year's "The Jungle Book." Many more are on the way, too, including those for "Dumbo," ''Mulan," ''Aladdin" and "The Lion King."
"Nostalgia is a very powerful driver for these films," said Dave Hollis, head of distribution for Disney. "What's exciting here is there is an opportunity to see these beloved stories in a way that's never been seen before, but you get to build that on the foundation of something that's very familiar.
It took in $180 million overseas, including $44.8 million in China, Disney said.
Sesame Street Introduces Muppet With Autism
Sesame Street is adding a new character to its lineup with Julia, a muppet who has vibrant red hair and autism.
Julia is already a staple in Sesame Street digital and print books, and will appear in the 47th season of Sesame Street in April, the Associated Press reported.
Sesame Workshop, the non-profit educational organization behind Sesame Street, announced in 2015 that Julia would join Elmo and the gang in books and an app as part of the "Sesame Street and Autism: See Amazing in All Children" campaign. Julia, who "does things a little differently," according to the workshop, is part of the campaign focused on reducing the stigma of autism.
And while the show may make it look like Julia’s character effortlessly came together, it took years of consulting with organizations and experts in the autism community to develop her character, and the campaign, Jeanette Betancourt, Sesame Workshop's senior vice president of U.S. Social Impact, told AP.
"In the U.S., one in 68 children is diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder," Betancourt said in the interview. "We wanted to promote a better understanding and reduce the stigma often found around these children. We're modeling the way both children and adults can look at autism from a strength-based perspective: finding things that all children share."
