My parents are going to be devastated. I can't even tell you how many episodes of Columbo I sat through as a child.
I hope he rests peacefully for all eternity.
This is sad. I liked Columbo, but I especially loved his performance in Wings of Desire. I hate to think how he suffered with this disease. For someone with advanced Alzheimer's, death is a blessing.
Loved Columbo, but also he was so good as The Grandfather in The Princes Bride.
RIP Mr. Falk. I remember watching Columbo with my grandma when I was a little kid in the 70's. I still enjoying watching an episode here and there :)
My boss refers to Columbo all the time. He was really inspired by how he played dumb...he says he uses his techniques all the time ;) RIP, Mr. Falk.
So sad and ITA with you Momster...regardingThe Princess Bride. He will be missed. RIP
This makes me sad. Agreed with Mooshki above that his performance in Wings gives that film a little boost.
Am hopeful that this loss will foment a Netflix spike in A Woman Under the Influence, my personal favorite Peter Falk performance.
"..oh yeah, and one more 'ting..."
My first exposure to Peter Falk was as "Columbo" on Sunday nights, and it was only years later that I discovered his movie career.
RIP Mr. Falk - and thank you for all you did to entertain us for all those years.
Columbo was great...but he was also a fantastic gangster in so many early films.....
Sleep easy Peter....
people don't die from Alzheimer's disease
Serpentine, Sheldon, Serpentine...
This is so sad, he was a favorite in my house for many, many years.
He was a great dramatic actor, but if you want to see how funny he could really be, go find Murder by Death. He was hysterical in that movie, my all time favorite of his.
Ara, that's a myth. Alzheimer's can be fatal, although frequently sufferers die of different diseases because they are typically older.
"Alzheimer’s is a fatal disease. It begins with the destruction of cells in regions of the brain that are important for memory. However, the eventual loss of cells in other regions of the brain leads to the failure of other essential systems in the body. Also, because many people with Alzheimer’s have other illnesses common in older age, the actual cause of death may be no single factor."
Awww, I've always loved Peter Falk. I hope his life was rich, full and exactly as long as it was supposed to be.
Damn, why is Falk dead while Robert Blake continues to live? RIP.
Oh wow!! I love watching Columbo never missed his shows.
Oh no, not Columbo. RIP Mr. Falk.
Love Columbo. I too watched with my parents. :( RIP Mr. Falk.
Columbo never dies! RIP
Aren't many great actors left. He was 1 of the best.
I have also been known to get lots of info. out of people with the "Columbo technique"
I am so sad. The LOML (Love of My Life) is a hardcore Columbo fan, and Princess Bride is my ALL TIME favorite movie.
Bless his heart. <3 Forever.
Your Comments about the "Columbo technique" caused me to reflect on how many life lessons I've learned from Columbo and others of his ilk...
Awww, I used to watch Columbo with my Gma too.
RIP Mr. Falk.
Oh man, I remember Columbo, I'd watch it with my parents every week. I think my favorite performance of his was in the Princess Bride though. I dind't realize he had Alzheimers. So sad.
Rest easy Mr Falk. You will be missed.
All time favorite movie: It's a Mad, Mad,Mad,Mad World.
loved Murder by Death too. A Pocket Full of Miracles, Vibes, The Princess Bride....
Columbo was on in my house whenever he was broadcast.
Liked Columbo but think I'll rewatch Tune In Tomorrow (a great performance in a less known film) in his honor.
