Police Arrested For Stealing From Jenni Rivera Crash Site

Jenni Rivera's remains were officially repatriated to the United States yesterday while officials investigate why the plane crashed and the owner of the plane and his ties to the Mexican drug lords and if those ties had anything to do with the plane crashing. The craziest thing though is that several police officers in Mexico have been arrested for stealing items from the site and that another officer sold photos of the wreckage and bodies to media outlets and is also being investigated. The plane went into a nosedive at 28,000 feet and never recovered. That must have been an eternity to all the people on the plane.

The fact that people are profiting from such a horrendous situation sickens me.

I read the duration of the fall was around 23 seconds. The cops were arrested for distributing video of the scene to various news outlets. Some of them had body parts.

How anyone could do something like that is mind boggling. It's just terrible that the families of everyone in the crash have to go through this.

You're telling me there are corrupt policemen in Mexico?

low human beings....

This is one of the ideal ways to die. 23 seconds is not much time to think about what is going on, and I'd imagine it would be painless. I heard the company providing the plane had tons of legal trouble prior to this.

looting is wrong, but this is a whole new, lower level of wrong.

Puggle, I imagine it'll feel like an eternity to the people about to die.

I read that the pilot was 78 years old, and it made me wonder if he had a medical emergency that caused the crash. Regardless, it's a tragic situation, and it's sick that people are trying to profit off of it. :-/

I suppose you're right Vicki. Before my Dad passed, I think my biggest concern was how he was doing emotionally. He had painkillers, so I knew that wasn't an issue. I honestly wanted them to make him loopy to the point that he didn't care much.

the Cartel killed her

Did anyone else read about how she was feuding with her eldest daughter at the time of her death? Rumor has it they reconciled the day before the crash... Talk about timing!

Profiting from tragedy...how the hell do these sort of...sub-humans sleep at night?

Lotta...I'm glad to hear that...regret is a helluva thing to live with.

I am not even shocked any more at the depths of human depravity. That makes me sad.
A horrible tragedy compounded by greed.
Reminds me of when Princess Diana died. People actually photographed her death throes before helping her. Somebody sent me an email with those pics. I nearly threw up. I don't know if they were real but they were shocking.
The girl from Diff'rent Strokes, whose name eludes me now, was also abused in her death by somebody who supposedly loved her.
It disgust me.

Dana Plato. Her "boyfriend" took pictures of her as she died.

Twenty three seconds is a LONGASS TIME to think about the fact that you're about to die in a horrific fireball.

And I too am shocked there are corrupt police officers in Mexico - who knew?

Drug cartel though? That seems a bit of a stretch.

The reason Mexican cops are so corrupt is that they're paid next to nothing. That doesn't make it right, but Mexican society just assumes that cops will scam and blackmail and elicit bribes to make a living.

Concur, there is a special place in hell for looters of a death/ or devastated cite. They are having this problem in areas hit hard by sandy. Low feeding scum bastards. They are like jackals. Ugh.

Horrible ....

I've heard she did some anti-drug cartel songs, etc. Could they have had something to do with this crash? Is water wet?

Eeekalicious said...

Assholes. How would they feel if those were their family members.

They are corrupt because they have no moral code, not because they are poorly paid.

I saw the pictures her family is so upset about, and rightfully so. That's just as bad as stealing whatever they found to steal. Couldn't have much. Cause the pics were of part of her foot with painted toenails, so you know its her And her hair and some skin. It tore the hell out of them..

Hideous. Take those cops up to 28,000 feet and drop them. The people on that plane suffered in ways that are incomprehensible, unspeakable. And now this inhumane post-mortem cruelty.
Obviously I'm kidding about dropping the cops from outer space but they should at the very least be fired and punished with significant prison time.
Mexico (and everyone else),
If you don't hold the public servants to account they will abuse you with prejudice.

not to get into gory details but when you drop that quick in a spin there is no time to think as your head gets depressurized at record speed...

As long you read the article, you part of the circle. Clicks mean money.

If you've seen that "I shouldn't be alive" (or whatever it's called) show on cable, you would hear survivors talk about their feelings when their plane(s) almost crashed.

They were VERY aware of what was going on and thought they were going to die (life passed before eyes, prayers said etc)

23 seconds is literally a lifetime to someone who knows they are about to meet their maker. Trust.

I moved to California earlier this year and a LOT of people I know will not go to Mexico. I went to San Diego Thanksgiving weekend and jokingly told my friend, "Hey, let's drive to Mexico!" and he thought I was serious and said "No! They'll shot us in the head and steal my car." I've had more than one person say the only way they'd go to Mexico is to fly (not drive) in to Mexico and to stay at an all inclusive resort. That's how dangerous it's apparently gotten. The border towns are incredibly dangerous.

Did anyone see that show on Discovery ID about the California family of four driving back from Cabo San Lucas when they were abducted by the Mexican Police? Mom, Dad, daughter was about 21 and son was maybe 16. They were driving a truck with a trailer coming back from a car race and the cops thought they were transporting a car and stopped them to steal it. They kidnapped the family and drove them up into the mountains. Family thought they were going to be shot but the cops left they there in pitch black cold and drove off with their cars, money and ID's.

They finally made it home and suffered PTSD, couldn't sleep were utter wrecks.

Few months later the mother gets a phone call from the State Department that her husband was found dead in Mexico. She freaked out for a moment, but thought, WTF? I saw him at breakfast a few hours ago. She called his cell and he was okay-- the cops had sold his ID! She told the State Department that the dead man wasn't her husband but they kept calling her back to come make arrangements to get the body. Finally in disgust she told them, "Keep the body. I never liked him anyway."

Here's another one from my fantastic high school first aid and health teacher. He said to think very carefully about vacationing in Mexico and be very aware that you are not in America, you will be targeted as a "Rich Gringo" and there is NO rule of law there. He related a story of a friend of his that went down to Mexico in an RV to a popular spot such as Cabo or somewhere like that. They had stopped for the night at an RV camping ground. In the middle of the night armed gunmen came to their RV, robbed them of all valuables/money/passports/driver's licenses and demanded his wife's wedding and engagement ring off her finger. It was stuck on her finger, and because of language barriers/impatience/whatever decided to chop off her finger in order to get the rings off. Which they proceeded to do. There are NO honest policemen in Mexico, they are ALL corrupt, and do whatever they want to anyone at anytime. Much of the time that involves stopping anyone, including fellow Mexicans, and asking for bribes, otherwise, you don't get to go free. And they are all on the drug lords payrolls. Drugs are the main industry in Mexico, and they will kill anyone who gets in their way. Another nice thing gangs like to do is kidnap young girls/women in Juarez, demand that they work for them as sexual slaves/prostitutes if they decline they are shot then and there. Many of these young girls are deeply religious and choose death over dishonoring themselves and their families.

@farmer that's the sad truth

The Cartels killing her wouldn't be much of a surprise because she had been targeted twice before and not too long ago was sent a note saying that she was 'next'. It is also said that it is weird how the plane made a nose-dive, yet body parts and pieces of the plane were scattered miles away. Which makes people think that someone either planted a bomb in the plane, or a part of the plane exploded.

Mexico, like many other third world countries can be dangerous but the American media has really managed to scare the American public. I agree the border towns are extremely dangerous and I myself would never go. However, many places in Mexico are perfectly fine to visit. Like in every large city one needs to exercise caution: don't wear flashy jewelry, don't wear loud "tourist" clothing, keep passports and other valuables in a safe place, don't wander around aimlessly.

I thought about that when I heard about her brother's car being sprayed w/ bullets not too long ago.

Um, yah, people suggesting it's a good way to go are kinda missing the point. I worked with an Air Crash Investigation team in the past - my role was non-gory, more assessing the economic impacts of the incident. But I still had the same level of access.

There's a reason why they don't really reveal the details of the autopsies unless you really want them (believe me in a high speed impact like this, you don't).

At a high rate of descent it's entirely possible that they were unconscious, but the problem is when planes suddenly go out of control like that, it's often for other reasons (loss of aspect awareness, particularly in night crashes) which means that bird can be see-sawing all the way down, and that process can last minutes until either the pilots recover situational awareness or they run out of sky.

(I should probably add that air travel is still incredibly safe, and 64% of people involved in what is termed an air accident survive, but I would then be accused of manipulating statistics!)

RIP to all on that plane.
