Blind Item #7

This married showrunner of an A list show everyone loves gave his wife the night off from an event and instead brought a gorgeous woman he hired for the night. She kept telling everyone she was a college exchange student.

I don't know how all these foreign students learn English when all their advertisements say they speak French and Greek.

Cable or network? No details.

I am amusing myself thinking of Steven Moffat for this reveal. (Dr Who, Sherlock)

VIP at what point in time did job title "producer" turn into "showrunner"? I'm curious about this although that term is pretty much accurate for what a producer does, a runner is a gofor to me.

David Benioff? I hope not!

A showrunner is a show's creator, producer, and sometimes writer.

I concur on Weiner. Had an affair with whatshername, Don Draper's French Canadian wife.

sandybrook said...

Ok @Tru Leigh so technically the old term would be "Executive Producer"?

I was thinking "show runner" meant host of a show - like Seacrest (though this blind is not about him obvs).

@sandy Showrunner definition

I always thought it was a gofer too.I think Exec Producer gives it more cache personally.

sandybrook said...

Thx VIP! and I agree with Sherry I prefer E.P. to showrunner.

Bill Prady? "Everyone loves" sounds like Big Bang Theory. Chuck Lorre is divorced.

As opposed to the Dunst reveal (next item) this blind sucks. Who gives a shit about a showrunner and who they brought?? Wife probably didn't care.

MadLyb said...

The show has to be, "Madmen", which was the first thing that popped in my mind upon reading this. So of course VIP is correct yet again (in my mind, anyway).

MadLyb said...

Or, "Mad Men".

I think of EP and showrunner as being different. The showrunner says exactly how each episode will play out and the EP oversees the money and the series as a whole, right?

Oh, Matt Weiner, you are a cheat AND an asshole? Bisou Bisou, amirite?

Is Ray Romano starring on any shows right now? Does it have to be current producer?
