Candy, cigarettes and no.

Karate Champ for my friend's Commodore 64 and yes, since we got busted boosting it from Target. I was 10.

Candy when I was 5. Yes, my mom made me return it and apologize. I remember thinking it was ok because the wrapper was half open, lol.

Nothing.

My 6 y/o swiped a candy bar while I was at the check out of a store. I told him it was wrong to steal, walked him back in, and gave him the $2 to pay for the thing.

A bracet from a dept store. I was about 14 and no, no one found out.

Gatorgum; yes, and she made me take it back into the store and apologise to the manager.

Cigarettes & MD 20-20 -
And yes, I got busted so the parents found out.

the bulk candy from the grocery store everytime. My mom didnt notice and the staff never said anything---handfuls at a time. I didnt realize it was stealing though...

I don't remember doing it.
I work in retail and there is always a steady stream of parents who catch kids stealing and make them come in and bring it back/pay.
I always feel sorry for the kid but I think the parents that do it are doing the right thing to teach a lesson.

Yes once and I got caught by my mom in the process. Never ever again.

Playboy magazines from the market. This was pre-pre-pre internet. The time when a glimpse of side-boob on Benny Hill was a major event. Skin mags were worth their weight in gold.

And yes, you can go blind doing it. I didn't listen 'til it was half over.

Stole a car maybe 5 or 6 times. Joy ride. One of the cars was a '70 GTO. Very sweet. Continue to steal from the bulk bins. Just totally addicted to those tiny chocolate bars.

Making you drink it was the punishment, I guess? Lol

A guy I grew up with wrote an awesome essay in high school about when he got busted stealing condoms from albertsons when he was 12.

books from the public library...I dont know why I did it. I was the good one and my parents would buy me any book I wanted. Anyways I got caught and the security guard told me never to return. I was embarassed and mortified but I never stole again. My parents never found out.

I stole gum for my older brother. When he wouldn't share, I told on both of us.

Another time I stole Tic-Tacs. I opened them inside my coat pocket and they fell out (still in the pocket). I got caught when my mom heard me trying to put them in one by one.

OneEyeCharlie said...

@Karen I read that as "stole a gun". First thought... don't mess with that betch.

Shoplift. Aw, hell no for my goody-two-shoes ass.

But, during my college years, I would totally steal Pearl Jam bootlegs, liquor, t-shirts and other things that I quite firmly believed should be in my possession from drunken/stoned/wasted unknowing fraternity boys. I was really rather skilled at it actually. And I got out of many bar bills, somehow. Go go boots and dancing on tables get you far as a 19-year-old. Ha.

Comic books. Lots and lots of comic books. Never got caught.

Stole lipstick from Sears...right in front if their security person...they made a huge deal and I had to do community service at a suicide prevention place...they also said I couldn't return for 20 years...whatever

Teddy bears. I used to steal big ass teddy bears and banana hair clips. Lol! I guess I was a furry with a hair fetish when I was 13.

And I got caught! I got fake arrested by a mall cop and gave them a fake name and phone number for my mom. I didn't tell my mom until I turned 30 and she had the nerve to be pissed.

CDs mostly, and a few other small items. I never got caught, even though I rob ably did it a few dozen times.

auntliddy said...

Did it as 14 year old cause everyone else was. Hated every minute of it. Scared. If I had gotten caught-well lets put it this way-id rather go to jail than face my parents! Lol

B. Profane said...

Condoms, of course. No, mom never found out, but shortly thereafter she started giving me condoms anyway. Insisted that I take them from her. Apparently she was afraid that my much older girlfriend was determined to make me a father at 14.

They would have been sooooo dissappointed in me; i wldnt be able to bear it.

My best friend and I used to steal tons of makeup in Junior High. Sometimes we'd steal clothing.

One time she stole a shirt that still had the security tag on it. We put it in my dad's vice to get it off and red ink exploded all over the shirt. Good times!

It wasn't until many years later that I realized how lucky I am we never got caught.

A VHS of Raiders Of The Lost Ark when I was 11. Yes, my parents found out because I needed another one when I used the tape out.

NaughtyNurse said...

Absolutely nothing. I was too good of a kid. Some friends in college convinced me that I haven't really lived until I've stolen something, so I stole a pack of reinforcements from Kinkos. I was so scared I would get caught!

MadLyb said...

I didn't steal, and am probably the only person in my immediate family who hasn't shoplifted.

Cee Kay said...

I was a really good kid. Not so much a good young adult. I shoplifted lots of stuff but quit for good when I got caught. And no, I've never told my parents.

I stole a snoopy pin from a pharmacy, but felt bad and snuck it back in the store. yup.

Anna Katherine Nonymous said...

teenage years, lingerie from Macy's and hell no.

Count Jerkula said...

We talking early teens or late teens, Anna? Was the lingerie sexy or saucy?

Kassandra said...

Yep, makeup and lingerie when i was in the 16 -18 year old range.

Sadly, there was a group of us that would go do this on occasion.

Then one of us got caught and convicted. We all stopped after that.

MissInfo said...

Ditto...we use to steal makeup from a store called Phar-Mor and clothes from Contempo Casuals and Judy's as teens. I'm so thankful that we never got caught because my parents would have been so disappointed!

Thousands of dollars worth of clothing and knick knacks. My friend and I would leave the mall with huge bags full of clothes. I have no idea how we did it. I also don't know how my parents never questioned how, at 13-15 years old, I had all these new clothes that they didn't pay for. Head in sand, anyone?? I'd have a heart attack today if I tried to steal something. I did get caught once. I was actually buying some clothes and I put a hair band on my head and walked out. When I got caught, I pretended like I simply forgot it was on my head. After all, I was buying clothes so why would I steal a little hair band? The security guy didn't believe me and called my parents. They DID believe me so no punishment. Suckas

Susan said...

OMG. Contempo Casuals. I lived in that store.

I recall shoplifting being REALLY big in high school. I was always kinda horrified by all the girls bragging about their hoists.

I worked at Macys during college and into my early 20s, and the amount that young girls steal is mind-boggling. During my summers, I worked the juniors department. I'll never forget helping this super sweet girl, and she stole every single thing I brought to the fitting room for her. It was a One Day Sale so it was hella busy. I worked on commission and was so distraught by it all. I felt so betrayed. Retail jobs kinda blow. You have to be nice to so many assholes. LOL. Great exercise running your ass off though straightening up the floor and fitting rooms and stuff. I was really good at selling shoes. People stole that shit from me, too. Argh.

Wendy Rene said...

@ Derek Harvey -- me too. Always saw the bulk candy at the end of the produce aisles. Mom would park me (in the buggy) right there at the end and go get what she needed. I thought the candy was for kids like me who sat very patiently waiting for their moms. haha

Ahhhh Lucas, the Commodore 64! My dad had one. And an Atari.
