@FSP: I didn't, he was 94, too. I was getting my guesses from an Orlando Sentinel article on the oldest celebs and they didn't have him on the list.

I saw a great documentary on him on the Palladia channel a couple months ago. RIP Pete.

RIP Mr. Seeger.

@Count - I was wondering how you came up with all those names so quickly.

@FSP: That one broad, Luise Rainer, it 104y/o 2x Oscar Winner for best Actress. She got SLEEPER written all over her, cause I doubt most people in an office pool know who she is, but you can't deny 2Oscars=Celebrity.

I did mix some of my own in before going to the Google search.

@Count, I saw Zsa Zsa on your list. Is she really still alive?

Count Jerkula said...

@Lotta: yes. I was checking the questionable ones on Wikipedia.

Orlando Sentinel Article.

Aw. The guy was a very early supporter of Bob Dylan's when Bob was just starting out and nobody had heard of him.

Pete was a cool guy.

Been listening to his music all morning. I love his banjo music, too. Saw Springsteen's Seeger Sessions concert and it was the best concert I have ever been to.

I used to work with Pete. Awesome human being--there's absolutely no other way to describe him.

The world truly lost a great one this time.

We lost a national treasure and an icon today. A man who was always true to his beliefs and passions. One of my best memories of him is when he, The Boss and Pete's grandson sang "This Land Is Your Land" at the 2009 Obama Inaugural concert at the Lincoln Memorial. Watching it gives me chills. RIP, Pete. The world is a smaller place without you.

Perhaps he and Mary Travers are singing together--that would be a lovely combo. RIP.
