Blind Items Revealed

February 2, 2014

This almost A+ list mostly movie actor who will do anything to sell a movie and can be a very funny guy likes to pretend how close he is to fans and how he is just an average guy. Well, the comic actor is really anything but that. Good luck trying to get a photo with him or getting an autograph unless he is actually out promoting his latest movie. As in on the red carpet or there are press around. He is not a fan friendly guy and thinks they take up too much time. The only time he cares about fans is at the ticket window.

Will Ferrell

Frist. Morning All. Afternoon, Violet.

Kelly said...

He can be funny, but he can also be so annoying.

OneEyeCharlie said...

I agree, Reno. Will Ferrell is like cooked liver. Good in small doses, but you don't want it all the time.

me said...

He is only funny for 5 mins. Thats why his movies suck. And cameos are much better suited for his acting abilities

Violet said...

Hello all.

That's not even a blind though. It's a character analysis which is objective at best - nothing specific even happened.

ItsCourtneyD said...

Huh. I thought he'd be nicer. Oh well. It's not likely I'll ever cross paths with him.

portlandgirl said...

My kids were very excited to see him at a local (so cal) soccer tournament. They asked for a picture and he very nicely declined saying that he didn't like to take pictures when his kid was there. He was friendly to my kids though and they completely understood ... As did I. No shade from me.

Good afternoon all.

Agree with violet, that's not a blind, it's simply a character assassination with nothing backing it up. And I'm no Farrell fan, I find him inane, but it's still not a blind.

TalksTooMuch said...

I disagree with all of you! Will Ferrell is fantastic. Most of the time he is over the top, but his subtle comedy is the best. The Other Guys? Stranger Than Fiction? He's a genius.

and good morning!

Sugar said...

He's only funny when he's dressed as a large Elf. Otherwise not so much. His drum off with the Chili Pepper dude was funny too.

Morning Poodles!

I see nothing wrong with declining autographs and pictures on his off time. Could you imagine how overwhelming that is?

Violet said...

Portland - see I don't mind that either, I think that's fair enough. We have right goes at fame whoring celebs and when one doesn't act like that we're supposed to see them as horrible human beings?

Beetlejuice said...

The Other Guys is classic movie. Everything Must Go is also a fantastic movie.

Sugar said...

Yup sounds like us, Violet!

Sprink said...

Sorry but I agree with Ferrell. At an opening or similar, I'm working and am happy to meet & greet. The rest of the time...? No.

Sorry, but no.

And it's because I've seen too many people do crazy-ass things in pursuit of some meaningless "brush with greatness."

Just because WE, the audience, recognise people doesn't mean we know them. They sure as hell don't know us so why in the world would they want to spend their free time being photographed or chatting with us? Makes no sense.

Anonymous said...

Good morning everyone. And TTM, I Loved Stranger Than Fiction. Such a funny quirky movie. But he was great in it.

Violet said...

Sugar - I know! Look at me being all righteous.

Unknown said...

Those that don't find him funny prob like Woody Allen movies and scoff at those that drink beer.

In both instances, def not my type of people.

phoebes in santa fe said...

Will Farrell - and any other actor - only owes his fans a good performance on the screen. Nothing else. If he chooses to give autographs and take pictures with fans, fine, but he certainly isn't required to do so.

TalksTooMuch said...

Right, Ray?? Also Old School has to be in there. Good morning, haven't seen you in awhile!

Sprink said...

Oh and Blades of Glory is stupidly fantastic.

TalksTooMuch said...

Thanks for a great night, TNC! And such great taste!

Anonymous said...

Well, TTM, the pleasure was all mine. We'll clearly need to do a movie date next.

Sprink said...

Phoebes, yes, but you know as well as I do that someone (maybe not here, maybe over on celebitchy or in the daily mail) will spout off about how celebrities owe it to their fans because without us they'd be nothing.

Whenever I hear that I wish Great Fame upon the writer.

OneEyeCharlie said...

I rescind my comment. I forgot about Stranger Than Fiction. Doh.

JSierra said...

Charlie cooked liver is best eaten in imaginary doses and slathered in imaginary ranch until it's original flavor is totally extinguished. No cooked liver for me, no thank you sir.

I do agree, he can be funny but only a little bit at a time. I don't find Anchorman funny, but Step Brothers is pretty hilar. Elf however, I could watch every day

Unknown said...

While some celebrities try to be more accommodating at what point are they allowed to say no so they can live their own life and get to places on time etc.

As someone who does not wholly understand the need for pictures with celebrities and autographs, if the poor man is spending time with his family, don't his kids deserve to have daddy's undivided attention or his wife or the spouse or partner of any celebrity. To me there are times that is appropriate for that kind of the thing like official events but the rest of the time I don't blame celebrities if they respectfully decline because if they pose with you or give you an autograph, another 10 - 20 people come out wanting to do the same thing and then you attract another 10 - 20 people and on and on. So whether the celebrity says no in the beginning or 10 people later or 20 people later someone is going to be pissed off.

Shelly Shell said...

He lost me when he kept making stupid sports movies.

Jessi said...

I never will understand the mindset of people who think celebs owe us something on their off time. Who likes to work when your not working?!? That's what I think it's like for celebs. When their working great meet and greet take pics, when they are out to dinner walking down the street, mind your own damn business! They don't owe you shit!

I always thought he would be more like Bill Murray if you met him on the street. Is Bill Murray even really like Bill Murray though? I mean, do you think he also doesn't like his fans on the street? Either way, I can't fault Will Ferrell for wanting a little privacy. He could totally turn this image around though, if he wanted, by crashing a few parties or photo-bombing a wedding or two. Easy peasy.

Meanie Rhysie said...

I'm absolutely positive he's a serial killer.

Oh, what Jessi said.

ladybaus said...

I saw Lady Bunny perform once (a drag queen TTM!) and she/he was on some coke fuelled bender and on stage bitching about him liking Trannys but never calling them in the morning etc

TalksTooMuch said...

Stupidly Fantastic should be the tagline for all of his movies, Sprink.

TalksTooMuch said...

Lady Bunny is a LEGEND, Derek!!

Meanie Rhysie said...

Oh, and cooked liver? Ewww!!!!

Jessi said...

Holy grammatical errors! Hangs head in shame. Coffee!!!!

Lady Heisenberg said...

Roxbury and Anchorman are my jams. Plus he has been in some of the best SNL clips (ie COWBELL)!!!
Good morning CDaN

Sillygurl said...

Thank you! People should learn to ONLY ask for autographs at official events. Period. This is why he lives in Sweden. They leave him the fuck alone.

Seven of Eleven said...

Jumping on the Violet & Froggy train.

Co-stars have said in the past that when he's not in character, he's a pretty serious and kind of quiet guy. This "blind" makes him sound like a complete tool who hates his fans - because he doesn't want to take photos when his kid is around (thanks for that, PortlandGirl).

Seven of Eleven said...

Oh, and Stranger Than Fiction is simply brilliant.

Unknown said...

Yes Lady H! I've also watched stepbros way too many times! So much room for activities...

Sherry said...

Exactly Violet. This is character analysis not a blind.

me said...

Fyi Hate Woody Allen. Love Budweiser. Meh for Willie F.

Dont care if he's a prick about photographs.

Sherry said...

I think Tina summed it up very nicely. When DO you say no and how is that ungracious if you're out with family and you want to focus on them? As someone mentioned further upstream he was very polite when he declined.

And I thought Everything Must Go was one of his better movies. Some are good some okay. Not a huge fan.

And liver is awesome even though I don't eat meat. I loved it when I did.

auntliddy said...

Jess-plus i honestly have nothing interesting to say to them! Lol. Best to just keep walking!

auntliddy said...

Silly, plus i always wonder, wth do u do with said autograph? I mean what the what is it for?

auntliddy said...

I thought what rosie odonnel did when her kids were little was good. She told lical kids, i know u see me on tv, and im glad you like me, but when im here with my children, im just a mom and will be paying attention to them. Gracious and to the point.

Hammer_Girl said...

Bill Murray is awesome! He's always in St. Augustine shamelessly flirting with the ladies.

Angela said...

Like Sacha Baron Cohen, Will Ferrell is notorious for being quite shy when he's himself. When he's in character, that's a totally different thing and he's much more at ease.
It's not about selling tickets, it's about being ready and prepared.

Beetlejuice said...

Mornin TTM!

TalksTooMuch said...

WHERE, Dirty Bird???? I will meet you for beers and a Bill Murray sandwich!

Hammer_Girl said...

You can come be a beach bum with me anytime lovie!!

Bill and his bros have a restaurant here in FL called The Caddyshack. Bill loves the golf course there, and is frequently out and about the town.

I could see Ferrell grating on you. I think he's pretty funny when he's not doing over the top stupid the entire movie (hated "Ricky Bobby," for example). Then again, I always hated the Jim Carrey everybody loved ("Pet Detective") and liked the Jim Carrey who was subdued (most of "Yes Man").

Agree that "Everything Must Go" & "Stranger Than Fiction" were both good. Ferrell can do serious.

People saying "he's only good in small doses" describes someone more like Jon Lovitz to me. Lovitz sucks when he's a main character ("City Slickers 2"). He's funny as hell when he has little cameos (his 2 stints on "Friends," for example).

He's The DJ, I'm The Rapper said...

& I'm pretty sure this has been well documented of Ferrell. He's one of the (or maybe THE) worst autograph signers among celebs. He thinks signing autographs is stupid. I agree with that. I don't agree with being a dick to your fans though. I do think you owe the public something when they allow you to (as an actor or athlete) live such an amazing life. Some people have no common sense - would bother someone in an inappropriate situation (eating out, walking down the street with their family). But if you're out and about on your own it costs you very little to be nice to fans.

A cousin of mine wandered on to an open set where Will Ferrell was filming a movie. They ended up chatting and my cousin mentioned he was interested the film industry. Mr. Ferrell offered him a job on the spot. Maybe it was an off chance happening, but it doesn't sound like the guy in the blind.

AIP said...

This reveal is complete balderdash. When he visited Ireland with his dad and brother on a holiday about 5 years ago, he was in the local pub and would up going to some randomer's house party and there were photos all over social media. And there are usually plenty of stories like that when he visits - which is quite often.

Chances are he was having an off day when the "source" met him... Or it's made up.

feraltart said...

This to me is a non-story. People no longer have appropriate boundaries. You do not know these people. If you wouldn't go up to an anonymous stranger, don't go up to a well-known person. You don't know them either.

TalksTooMuch said...

JSierra, please tell me you don't eat RAW liver? Please?

lalaland923 said...

Elf is awesome! I have no idea of other Ferrell movies. That being said, I was in the bathroom of Magic Kingdom at Disney World & Nancy Kerrigan came out of the stall next to me with her children. That would definitely be a no no on asking for a picture & autograph.

Blogger101 said...

lalaland923- or worse, a handshake!

C'estMoi said...

He gave my son an autograph without batting an eyelash. It was completely illegible.

He's only funny with a cow bell.

Studio54 said...

I'm sorry to read he doesn't like to give out autographs or deal with his fans. He is one of the greats to come out of SNL: The cowbell in "Don't fear the reaper", a wicked Neil Diamond parody of those pandering patriotic songs like "Coming to America." The three guys at the bar ongoing parody. Elf, Anchorman, Tallalugha Nights. He works it on the late night shows, fake crying over the breakup between Kristen Stewart and Rob Patterson, wearing one of those stupid Ralph Lauren beret's made in China our Olympic team was supposed to wear.

I work at a bookstore in NYC & we get a lot of celebrities. I recognize most of them. I treat them the same as I do any other customer, and have quietly said, "I must say, I am a big fan" & mention a favorite role, & will leave it at that unless they continue the conversation.

Big Crazy Baby said...

sounds like he has boundaries. good for him
