The reason this former A list mostly television actor left his hit network show was because his wife made him as a condition to remaining in the marriage. The years long hookup with his co-star was not something that could just be stopped. There had to be a dramatic step taken.

Shonda Rhimes has already said she fired Dempsey because he was an asshole. I don't think this is him.
Don't think so - from what I read Ellen was "good riddance" because she was pals with Dempsey's wife & knew he was a serial cheater.

Since the blind doesn't say if the departure was recent, I am gonna guess David Duchovny with X-Files. He was married at the time and there are still rumors he is/was with Gillian Anderson. Around s9 he left and only came back in 2002 for a short period. Then he did the Xfiles movie, which was filmed around the time of his separation from Tea Leoni, which gave him 'permission' to work with GA again.
Now the DD guess I can get behind. This really is the only one that makes sense so far.
Duchovny is a decent guess, except he is maybe former A but current A also, or at least B + with his NBC show Aquarius going into second season I think. I'm gonna guess Eric Dane from Grey's, Mr. McSteamy. Didn't he "quit" when it is what made him?
