Angus Jones Apologizes - Wants More Big Checks

Yesterday, Angus Jones apologized for the remarks he made about the show and how it really isn't that filthy if it is paying him over $300K a week to read a few lines and back in the day, watch a few being done by Charlie Sheen. The apology does not actually address the filth, he just acknowledges that he has been given a ton of money and had the biggest lucky break in the history of lucky breaks and he realizes in two years when the show ends and he has given away all his money to the leader of his church and he has to go work at the only Blockbuster still standing in Los Angeles and ask people if they would like some candy with their rental that maybe he should not criticize the crew and producers and studio and they might let him wash their cars on the weekends.

I think it takes brass balls to say what he did considering his career will likely go the way of the Jerry Maguire kid and Sixth Sense boy.

They should have his character leave the army and join a cult.

MISCH said...

Of course he does...they should replace him.

I do love a good non apology. Sorry but any apology that has the word if in it is not an apology.

What his PR team really wrote was he was sorry that his comments offended some people, not that he was sorry for the comments.

The non-apology apology always a classic!

This kid needs to be deprogrammed stat.

Amber said...

You know it's bad when Charlie Sheen is speaking out and saying the kid is brainwashed by a cult and acting all Heaven's Gate-y.

BobNYC said...

Anybody who believes this non-thinker wrote that is a fool. Its a "crafted" piece from a PR wonk.

Angus before and after: -- this is your brain - this is your brain after a year of acid. ("I see Jebus.")

Cute kid/ugly adult syndrome. Classic!!!

I'm with Agent**It - write him into joining a cult in the show. Karma, Angus, karma...

I just don't get why he would say those things in the first place. It's amazing how people in Hollywood are always biting the hand that feeds them. That worked wonders for Heigl's career.

Frufra said...

Enty, you made me laugh with the Blockbuster scenario.

Bob, you made me snort with your acidy Jebus.

Thanks for the early morning laffs, boys!

I think he's passive aggressively trying to get fired without it being his fault. Really, the fact that he had to put out a video saying that the show is garbage is silly because its OBVIOUSLY garbage and people who watch it are too old to know how to watch YouTube videos anyway.

So someone at CBS or WB or his agent told him to shut the hell up.

I find it hilarious when someone decides to think on his own and go against what everyone around him thinks he should think/say, they're no longer considered a free thinker. More power to Angus. He didn't apologize for what he said cuz he believes what he said. He just added to the statement to say he cares about and is thankful for those he's been with and worked with for all these years. Nothing wrong with that. In fact, I find it refreshing that he didn't backpedal. If he'd backpedaled, he'd be trashed for that, too. He wasn't the one negotiating his contracts and fees. He's a child. He might not even want to act anymore. His teen years eaten up with acting schedules. His acne displayed week to week in high def. Being exposed to Charlie and his antics behind the scenes. That's not a good life and probably not one he chose or one he was able to escape as a child with others in charge of his choices. What a child is at 9 isn't the same as a young man at 19. I hope he goes off to college and becomes a computer programmer or English teacher or even a boat builder, instead of becoming another Lindsay or Amanda. And he's right, the show is filth.

Megan said...

He's not really a child, anymore. And he has every opportunity to quit the show if he hates it so much. He's still collecting that $300,000 per episode, though, isn't he? Why isn't he giving that to charity since it's money from "filth"?

Agent**It said...

I wonder how much his residual checks are from that show. The reruns alone must pay him well?

Sugar said...

Poor Jon Cryer. He's probably wondering what he did in a past life to deserve all these unconventional coworkers. Angus is right, the show sucks.

Actually, he is bound by contract, isn't he? And how fucked up would you be with Charlie Sheen as a primary influence for a boy growing into adolescence? I think it's stranger to roll with all of that and come out thinking that's how the world should be.

I doubt his religious fervor will last, he's just reaching for something that feels cleaner than Charlie's influence . . . Which hey, Angus! That's a super low bar, but one that your new found religion likely isn't going to provide. Hope he can find something relatively healthy to stabilize with.

I feel sorry for the kid. I would hate to be responsible now for some of the stupid stuff I said at that age. I read this article yesterday about his parents - evidently they're terrible. It's amazing he's not turning into another Lohan. I'm hoping he comes out of this ok.

Susan, I agree. His parents are crap, and he's floundering. Hope he finds his way - at 19, he's got time.

Cee Kay said...

@lisa no, he's not a child anymore. And HE signed his last contract at age 18. Not his parents. He made that choice. And what exactly makes you think that he's so "free thinking" anyway? If he's being influenced by a cult (which seems almost certain with all the information we have so far), then his thoughts aren't his at all. Whether he's right or wrong about the show being "filth" (yeah, it's dirty, but funny!), you don't mouth off about your place of employment that way. His "apology" was clearly written by some lawyer and means nothing, so I think the general feeling here is "Why bother at all?"

LOVE the South Park reference!

Sylvia said...

I am sure he will be disappearing from the show pretty soon.

figgy said...

I never understood why he was cast in the first place?? He was such an unappealing-looking little kid, and now as an adult he's not only purely average-looking, he's not witty or funny or clever. He's just a lump without any discernible talent.

Look at the young actor who plays Manny on Modern Family: now THAT is a talented child actor who will likely have a future as an adult actor.

Skippy Handlemann said...

@figgy Are you serious? It's one of the top shows for ten years running and your second-guessing casting? I doubt you work in Hollywood.

Megan said...

@Skippy People don't watch the show for Angus. Were it not for the fact that he's been in it so long, they could easily cast some other lazy kid for Charlie Sheen;s or Ashton Kutcher's characters to corrupt while Jon Cryer does... whatever the hell that it is Jon Cryer does

Cathy said...

@cee kay - i completely agree with you, but how many of us signed up for credit cards back when we were 18 just for a free sweatshirt, pizza, etc.?

jax said...

if you're taking the cheque you need to STFU.

Free life lesson from Jax.

Alma said...

What a damn weenie! I would have respected him more if he had really been a religious zealot who stuck to what he believed. Can we cancel that garbage and forget this brat?

Agent**It said...

Susanb, agree.

Little Miss Smoke and Mirrors said...

What a dick.

fordellcastle said...

The cult won't have any use for him once he is working at Blockbuster. Sounds like a COS kind of 'religion'. I wonder if aliens are involved?

MadLyb said...

I thought about it and realized I really don't care. I've never watched this show, and never will, so there's zero investment here. Religion is whack, though.

anon said...

Aah - the non-apology apology of dickheads everywhere: I'm sorry if you were offended by my offensive comments.

What do you think would happen to YOU if you gave a public interview like that about your company?

PuggleWug said...

This kid is an asshole. I really don't see him doing much acting in the future. Not because of his comments, but because he isn't all that great at it. Good thing he can live of off the money he happily receives from acting in "filth".

Outshined said...

He can do whatever he wants, he will be a very wealthy man from the residuals. Then again, i thought the same about Kirstie Alley but it appears she needs to keep working for Co$.

FlirtyChick74 said...

Geez folks. Lay off the kid. He's young and finding his way in life. I would hate to be held accountable for the choices I made at that age. He probably signed the contract because....it's the only life he has known. It's what he has been doing since his pre-teens. I'm guessing his family has appointed themselves as managers and rely on him making money. When you have a system like that in place, it is hard to break.

I just hope there is someone in his life that he trusts to make sound decisions. Someone who has eagle eyes and can keep the predators away.
