Tried mead last night for the first time. I know it is the in thing right now, but it wasn't for me.

I've now had a pimple on my face that has spanned 2 years. SHAZBOT!
The notebooks?
Had to google that one. Assumed it was something alcoholic.
Honey mead. I'll bring my lute Enty
Sugar: my husband would squeeze that for you. He loves to squeeze impurities. He's like a meth addict.
Aww Enties, to each his own. I tried apple pie moonshine over the holidays and it was delicious.
I thought cronuts were the in thing. That and quinoa.
Mead sounds nasty. Id rather go for wine or IPA beers
Mead is absolutely disgusting, in my humble opinion.
I have a bottle unopened, I was going to do a duck recipe never got to it…
Bacon, as an active ethical vegan, quinoa is WRONG! Research it.
Mead from the Maine Mead Works is really good. It's more dry than most of the stuff you find. They have some that are combined with blueberries, elderberries, or lavender. It's a bit hard to find, though.
FSP: that sounds delish! Crust? I had apple grappa and it got messy (lead into the shart story)
I really liked the mead I got for our wedding 10 years ago for our toast but never felt the need to drink it again. More of a symbolic gesture. We served with our homemade IPA to the guests. It was so good about 3 cases were drunk by 100 guests who also had other choices of wine and beer.
I tried homemade honey mead from my ex father's own garage brewery (he was a bee keeper). Rank!
It's like when I went to Japan for work and was introduced to Sake. Your behaviour after imbibing such filth is entirely excusable.
Sherry : we were on a budget so it was VB and boxed wine. Was still a good night for all though!
Never tried it Rach. Just seems to be on all of the annoying coupon flyers I get in the mail.
Bacon : my last night on Sake, back in Aus, ended with me hiding behind a garbage bin at a music festival & spending the night in the police cells.
Rach we were on a budget too, hence the homemade beer! No attendants for us and my dress cost me $75 or so.
I steer clear of any and all trendy drinks, micro brews, et al. Beer and drinking aren't my hobbies and never will be. BEING DRUNK is my hobby, and putting too much thought into it would ruin it.
What's IPA?
@Rach: India Pale Ale. A very hoppy beer.
Oh, I've had that! I like pale ales.
Mead. How f*cking pretentious can ine get? And why does sugar keep saying shazbot?
Aunty: shazbot is a new fangled rage. As soon as my mum starts saying it (like when she asked me about "twerking") it'll be over. Xx
Mead may be trending now, but it dates back to the Bible. I received a bottle as a Christmas present, haven't tried it yet.
I love the shazbot outta you, auntliddy!
I enjoy mead at the Ren Faire, but it's just too sweet to drink on a regular basis. I do like the homemade honey wine at an Ethiopian/Eritrean restaurant I sometimes hit; it's not as cloyingly sweet as mead, IMO.
@Count, you might enjoy this then.

Yes I did, Flashy Vic. Yes. I. Did.
Sugar, I had a pimple like that once. It turned out to be skin cancer.
I had the best honey mead at a renaissance fair once. Seriously, no alcohol has ever been able to top it. The people at those fairs don't mess around.
Jesus, sunnyside! Way to scare the hell out of me!
PS I've had skin cancer once already. Fun times!
What the hell is mead? Can I make a martini out of it?
There's a drink you can buy here called 'Lemsip' - sounds exactly like the same thing! (The methol version is particularly good - has lovely sedation properties)
I've only had mead at one of those medieval dinners. That was enough, thanks.
Mead is booze made from honey. Sort of like a sweet wine, but not quite.
