Isn't this a repeat one too??
I went to my 10 year.
I don't think we had a 10 year. I definitely would have worn my class ring though!
2 and they weren't much fun.
i went to a 10 year, and everyone broke up into the same old cliques - astonishing.
Yes, and it was amazing how little everyone progressed. The same kids who sat together in high school cafeteria sat together again. That was 10 yr reunion. Luckily i found friends to sit with and had a ball. Fast frwd 20 or 25 yrs, all men lusting and fawning over divorced classmates, i was social pariah one again. Couldnt even have a discussion with these people! Never again. As my friend said, if there was anyone in high school you wanted to be friendly with, you wld be. Oh, and the music was shitty. Didnt even try to pkay stuff from our hs years. Now thats unforgivable, lol
Yep. And I had fun! But I went to a small school. We didn't have cliques or groups too much. And not only did we all go to high school together, most of our parents went to high school together too. So it was kind of like a good time to just catch up.
I also had lost a lot of weight, so that didn't hurt my feelings either. Lol.
Yes, I've been to several and had fun. But my days on the planning committee are over. I'll go if someone else does the work.
Went to my 10-year reunion. Got to socialize with people I didn't usually when I was in high school. I was amazed at how little the "popular girls" changed. They sat apart from everyone else, expecting the guys to come to them. The guys knew what they were up to and stayed away.
No, too far away for the price tag.
No. Never. I'm above showing off my fancy car and breast implants to people I've long since forgotten! ;-)
Hell no!
Yes and everyone that was popular got fat. Worth it just to see that.
I was going to, but I couldn't find my class ring.
Then I remembered I didn't buy one. Oh drat.
Nope. I thought about the 20 year reunion, but then came to my senses.
Yes - 10 year was just like high school- same cliques and if you weren't popular in high school you probably didn't have a good time. 20 year a little better but then a lot of how successful are you one-upmanship. 30 year was more of same. It is mostly a nice way to see people you were friends with in high school. Don't expect to make a lot of new friends or resolve high school issues.
Nope. Never have, never will.
I'll take it one step further: I help organize that shit. I live in my hometown. It's tragic, I no. My husband agreed to marry in.
75 percent of the population of my town move back here. And outsiders actually choose to move here because, well, it's a nice small hometown. We have amazing blueberries and Italian food, too.
I was friends with pretty much everybody in high school, so cliques and all that jazz don't phase me.
Me and my three high school besties are taking a girls trip to Bermuda in June. I am SO stoked!!
^know. Christ. I can't complete a thought without a 3-year-old asking me for food or a new Thomas on TV. Serenity now.
Oh God no! I would rather stick a fork in my eye!
I feel FB is a good judgement as to how the event would go and let me tell you, I am not that impressed with FB.
Nope. Still close with the people from grade school that I wanted to keep in touch with.
The rest? That's what Facebook is for. Oh, you got married? Yeah, I'll "like" that post. Oh, you had a kid? Lovely! "Like". Oh, you sell Scentsy now? Uh huh, "Hide feed".
I'm planning on attending my 10-year later this year.
My 10-year just passed in June. I had no interest in going and, clearly, no one else did either. The organizers started a Facebook group and were literally begging people to come or else they were going to cancel it. I think the final tally was 30 people. Our class was close to 400 I think.
Susan, you win my internets today, you made me kaugh iut loud with that pist. Serenity now! Indeed!!
As always, my sausage-y fingers on iphone betray me and make me look idiotic. Meant laugh out loud with that post. Perhaps i should get a stylus, lol
I was supposed to go to my 20 year one a few years ago but my Dad passed away a few months before and I just couldn't deal with more emotional trauma.
My Facebook feed lets me know that these people haven't changed at all, since then, which is a good or bad thing, dependant on the person!
No, I have no interest. I wanted to leave all of that behind. They are all still superficial snots. I was one of those people who knew people from every single group in h.s....preppies, punks, alternatives, jocks, one or two nerds etc...I had friends from all, but allegiance to none.
Not a chance. I hated high school, and all the people in it.
I went to one (10 year) and that was enough. No plans to ever go to another one.
Went to 10 and then 25. Wow I am getting old. Before the days of social media this was the way to see people. I enjoyed my high school years and seeing some of the people was a lot of fun. Now that we have social media we get together a lot more often. I am not a people hater like some.
hell to the no
never looked back
What's the point? Facebook is a daily high school reunion. Though my 20th is coming up in '15.
Yep, every one and we just had our 30th. (I plan it so it's required - graduating class was around 630.) MOST of the peeps have grown out of the HS BS attitude. There were a couple that still thought they were da' bomb - we ignored them. I've enjoyed much closer relationships with many on FB than I would have thought was possible even 10 years ago. Age must do that. (The most surprising thing was how many old flames hooked up after the reunion!)
Ya see, all y'all are what makes planning the damn reunion so infuriating. Everybody is so too cool for school. Literally.
Facebook definitely made it easier to find all the fools in my class. Now this year they're all bitching and moaning about everything. The price, the location, "I didn't know about it," blah, blah, blah. Being a reunion organizer is such a thankless job.
auntliddy - OMG. Can, I say your shoutout is like sunshine on my cloudy day.
The overscheduling of children in this country is driving my piano teacher self INSANE. Baseball and softball games are starting this week, so I'm getting a million rescheduling calls. Eep.
Alright. Peace out. And go to your reunions! People want to see you.
I hated high school and wasn't very social. I was actually somewhat shy, very slow to develop and ready to get the hell out of there. Plus by then I had lost my class ring.
Not mine but went to my boyfriends 10 yr with him. He didn't really want to go, he didn't even go to the graduation ceremony, just got his diploma from the office.
He ended up really enjoying it & all the people that were snobs in HS were really nice & fun @ the reunion.
He died @ 33 from a brain tumor so the reunion is one of the good memories.
Susan - I feel your pain! I helped organize mine too. Thankfully, everyone was really great about not complaining.
We probably could've done a better job of locating people, but I had a really big two week sex trial right before the reunion and only one person helping me!!!!
Town of about 11,000. Graduating class of about 130 (160 if you count everybody that was ever in it). I thought ours was nice too. And I love some of the people I went to school with as much as I love my own family.
We haven't had one yet but almost everyone still lives at home so going out locally is a guaranteed mini reunion.
Nope, not one...although I'd be interested to go to one to talk to the classmate who became a Penthouse Pet.
Yes, I went to a 10th and 20th year anniversaries. The girl who organizes them seems to only put them on when she gets down to her goal weight. The last time I saw her she had become her version of heavy. She's happily married, and she's such a nice person, nobody gives a crap what she weighs.
I am helping plan my 20-yr reunion right now! I work with our old class president & always get talked into planning! We usually have mediocre turnouts & of course the complainers but I love it all the same! It doesn't hurt that I am still friends with the same group of girls since middle school! (We're 37 now!) There's about 7 of us who get together about once a month or so - sometimes just girls, sometimes with our families! Good times! :)
Didn't go to the first we had and not 100% on this 20th. Not sure if the people I give a shit about are going so that's going to decide it for me.

Went to my tenth. I dreaded it, but it actually didn't suck. All the hot guys and girls had clearly peaked in high school, which was nice to see. *L*
I realized that for some of my former classmates, high school had actually been the highlight of their lives! Blah.
No and I never will.
Shout out to ma girls, @califblondy, @susan, @mama ray and @kara, I feel your pain! I have been in charge of everything since our jr. Prom and it's so hard to make everyone happy! We try to keep costs down, make it special, hold it on a weekend everyone can make, and still throw a great party and it's hard y'all ™ (TTM)! +1 on what Susan said, just show up, the party is more fun if you are all there!
Just got an invite for one last week. They can stick it where the sun don't shine. They weren't nice people then, I'm sure nothing has changed. Got mercilessly teased for having small boobs, scarred me for quite a while.
