Wasn't he in that cinematic masterpiece, Mannequin? My childhood weeps.
aww sads rip
This is so sad for me. I loved Designing Women and it's reruns so it was always on in my house throughout the 80-90s and now recently. Mesach was wonderful amist all those strong women, may he RIP.
@sillygirl---lol! I vaguely remember that movie and him in it...
This saddens my heart. Meshach Taylor was awesome. "Hollywooooood" was hilarious and how can anyone not love his character, Anthony on Designing Women. /long sigh....
RIP Meshach Taylor. You will be missed.
RIP. Loved Mannequin and Designing Women
Designing women was the Shite and I have seen Mannequin aboot 259 times
Ot I Dvr Can't Buy Me Love last night with old school Patrick Dempsey
Wow. Sad. I wonder how or why.
Condolences to his loved ones.
I remember the song from Mannequin ---something about "Nooothins gonna stop us nowwww". Question: Did he play a gay man on Designing Women--as in actually had male relationships etc? Cause there was not much of that on tv in the 80s...
Last night twitter said he was on his deathbed and fading fast. I didn't think it would be this fast :( it was cancer but I don't remember which kind. Fuck cancer.
He was awesome in Criminal Minds episodes as well. Safe travels
Oh no! He and his show were such a huge part of my childhood; loved his character ❤️ RIP Meshach.
He played a straight man. He was amazing and that was one of my all-time favorite shows.
The character was straight but I doubt Taylor was.
RIP. I loved his character and the whole cast of Designing Women.
RIP Meshach. He was a great actor.
Oh no…he was wonderful…RIP
He was married with four children
Peace
Hollywooooood!
RIP...<3
FWIW and not that it matters but he was married and had 4 children. Married since the 80s. Prayers for his family. If it was cancer, such a horrible way to go but he's not suffering now.
I was so saddened to hear this news this morning. I've watched quite a bit of "Designing Women" lately -- thanks, LOGO! -- and my brother and I were just talking about MANNEQUIN yesterday. Safe travels, Mr. Taylor.
His mother lives in Indy and recently turned 100. How sad that her son died a few days later.
RIP
RIP.
Meshach Taylor was about the only thing I liked about Designing Women. Those smug, verbose speeches that Julia Sugarbaker gave every episode were cringeworthy.
Anthony! !!
Loved his chemistry with Delta Carter
Yes, he was Hollywood, the gay window designer in Mannequin. Sad, I liked him on designing women. RIP, sweetie. (SO watching Mannequin today)
RIP. Thanks for the wonderful laughs you gave us. You will be missed.
First thought that came to mind was seeing Mannequin 2: On the Move on an airplane. That memory aside, I hope he rests in peace, he was a funny guy.
Hollywood! :(
Hollywood, Hollywood Montrose!
@Mango I am for The South and would love to be able to go all Julia Sugerbaker on someone. I loved Anthony.
RIP Mr Taylor. You provided me with many a good laugh while you were on Designing Women.
I loved him in Mannequin and Designing too. RIP lovely man.
Yes, one of the most fantabulous movies ever. I'm with you, soccer mom, I'll be watching it tonight!
So terribly sad. RIP.
When I read this on Dlisted this morning, it was like a punch in the gut. I wasn't a "fan" of his per se, but I loved Designing Woman when I was growing up, and loved his character in it, so it feels like I have just lost someone I actually knew.
RIP Meshach
I read something last night that his family stated on his Facebook or somewhere that he hasn't died but he was on his death bed. If it is true, RIP Meshach! We all loved you in Mannequin.
Rip my friend.
I saw him at the movies in Pasadena during the Designing Women run. I was shocked that he was with a woman. He was very sweet to the people who fanned him.
This news really saddened me. I really liked his work. RIP Meshach.
OMG I was obsessed with Can't Buy Me Love when I was younger! I still oven it on VHS haha
Rip.
"And later...she's gonna exfoliate me!"
RIP
