Your Turn
When you go to the house of someone for dinner, do you usually bring a gift? What if it is just lunch?

Hi CDAN Fam,
Hope everyone had an amazing 4th.
I bring x number of cellphones, iPad and laptop.
LoL
hi Montana! You got a few correct reveals under your belt that day ; )
I bring my appetite.
Always I bring myself and that's a true gift because I do not visit..and if/when I do I always bring a nice bottle of something or dessert.
A bottle of my homemade wine!
Hi Montana!
Hey Trainrides!!!
What? You've got enough to eat at home, Enty.
Don't be a cheapskate, bring a bottle of some shit. It's always 5 o'clock somewhere, even if it's only lunch...
Wine or homemade bread for a dinner, a fun dessert for a lunch. Always.
I always intend too and then run out of time or forget until the last min. I do try to write a thank you Caen though afterward
I bring Franzia for me.
Yes. Usually a bottle or two of wine or a dessert.
I bring one already rolled. #I'mabetterstonerthanRay
Also, I always bring wine and maybe a baked good. Cause I'm a totally awesome dinner guest and I need to make up for being a pescetarian.
Don't be such a stranger - you've been missed!
Depends on the person. Sometimes a bottle of wine, or flowers, or dessert-y type of something. @Nothanksdarlin', I'm pretty good with writing thank you notes, too. :)
Lunch - bring dessert
Dinner - bring wine
Late night - bring a condom
Their gift is my Presence
Always. A great bottle of wine, flowers, a special dessert. And a thank you note within a week. It's just good manners and the late Matriarch Mrs. Kid Jones would roll over in her grave if I didn't.
Lady H :)
Wine.
#letshaveastonerparty
Almost always food or drink. And always, always, always too much food cuz I grew up in family of 7, 5 males; Tall, hungry, males. I only know huge portions, huge dishes.
Unless it's a last minute thing, and they insist I don't, and time is of the essence. (I need time for my mop, cheeks, lips and a pre-drink)
One friend, definitely ALWAYS a gift. A friend of my parents, now mine, always buys me gifts. Usually from Nordies. Followed by an $8 THANK YOU card in the mail. I LOVVVVVE HER!!
Wine or beer.
@ Ray and Sugar, you're so organized. I hurriedly pack a film container.
@kidJones. MamaKid raised u right!
Come over any time.
Always bring something, no matter what meal or occaision. Its fun and good manners.
That's an old school stash container.
James, would you like to come to our stoner party?
#stonersmakethebestdinnerguests
^5
....and bring the leftovers back home.
@Ray and Sugar today in WA state (here) it's the first day legal pot stores open up.
#i'llbringthehash
Have you gone to one yet, James?
I can roll very beautiful cone joints (the kind with the filter end).
Jealous! You better hit onE up and smoke a fatty in honor of Sugs and I
Yes and yes. Plus we have food allergies so we always bring food just in case
#illbringspecialcookies
#alsocanmakespecialbutter
#alsoihavesomeshrooms
Will do.
Ok you win. I'm seriously wishing we could party together now!
I always bring something…flowers, cake, wine….a book
Some people even insist that I bring my 5lb killer dog. (I know??????) But I make sure she leaves her little gifts back home.
Sweeet! I roll blunts better than joints and I have a sweet collection of glass pieces and a big ass gravity bong.
I imagine some day there will be a CDaN convention. Hopefully in WA or CO.
Always wine. As a gift, and just in case!
It'll happen boo, its on my bucket list to get fully baked with you
Never show up empty-handed. It's a rule.
What leftovers?
A plastic bag full of class rings.
Wine, a few gourmet cheeses, a more expensive ice cream (weird, I know), or something similar. So yeah, I bring something.
Always wine, sometimes a baked good or two as well
Ass, grass, or cash. Nobody visits for free...
Desert pastries
Wine
Do you bring your girlfriend or wife?
Wine, flowers, a chi-chi candle or candy, pretty hand soaps or some silly thing that suits that particular person. One friend collects tacky plastic snow globes, another collects little elephants. A lunch hostess gift depends on the hostess, some yes, some no.
Um, if I offer to host and cook lunch, am I invited?
Come on over, Brea! Plenty to share. It'll be like a Snoop Dog video up in here!
I usually take a bottle of wine or some cute cocktail napkins
my favorite bottle of 1.5 L wine so I can sit there with a genuine smile on my face just in case it's a boring ass visit
One? ONE, Sugar? Please. I'm like Snoop at a house party. ;-)
Colt 45 and pot, naturally.
I love you Disco.
I am usually the host, but I don't expect anything. Empty plates and a few compliments are enough for me.
Now, if someone wanted to be good and roll while I cook I won't say nay.
And rum is always welcome in my house, but not essential.
Can I go to the SugarRay Partay?? You know you want me....
Batties for everyone !!!
I meant one right after the other, IJU! I usually bring this much weed to a dinner!
That's more like it. In the words of the great Paulie in Goodfellas 'now we can eat!'
Cones are the best but I always use a filter in my joints, cones & blunts but prefer to smoke out of glass like my bong.
Sure you do, Smoke-a!
Your invitation has been sent. Brea as well!
Lunch? Who invites someone to their house for LUNCH? That said, I do think it's always nice to bring a bottle of mid-priced wine if you've been invited to dinner and you know that the family in question drinks and will appreciate it. I feel like anything other than that is strange. Like, don't give someone fancy soaps or something just because they've invited you to a meal! Lol. You could always bring a dessert too but that might be a bit to presumptuous; maybe they already have something that they made and were going to serve and want to be the sole finale to the evening.
Don't ya know it TTM ;-)
IJU
Looks about right !
I've totally invited people to my house for lunch but I don't expect them to bring anything. Usually it's not a complicated lunch buffet. I would think it weird if they showed up with wine for lunch.
What does get on my tits etiquette-wise is a recent invite I got to an anniversary party thrown by the couple's grown-ass daughter. It was BYOB and BYOChair and a pot luck but she was insistent on an RSVP. What does it matter how many guests you have if they're bringing their own booze, food and seating?
Growing up in the South we were taught never ever EVER go anywhere without at least a small token of thanks for being welcomed into someone's home. I'm a baker so I'll usually bring some small pastry that doesn't need to be served immediately.
Last year I ordered too much wine for a party so had two leftover cases of prosecco. It's been great just grabbing a bottle on the way out the door. Everyone loves a little bubbly and I love not having to panic about what I'm going to do for a hostess gift.
Much appreciated. And you are cordially invited to my smoke shack any time. No gift required.
SugarRay! That's hilarious high 5 IJU!
I'm always the hostess too and those you know me well enough to be invited know to bring me bubbles.
*who* not you :(
I have a magnum of bubbly in the fridge just waiting for an excuse, Katydid.
Well, come on over, Its Just U! I'll grill some hot dogs!
@auntliddy: I totally agree. I usually cook something or if I'm asked not to bring anything then I just bring wine and/or flowers.
Yes, I bring something - booze, dessert, bread/cheeses, gourmet candy, flowers, etc.
Gift selection depends upon who/what's on the menu/where.
I think cooking is fun, but when you throw a shindig or serve a dinner, it's still time and effort so a little nod of thanks is always appreciated.
If it is a big Holiday dinner, then I bring wine, or flowers, sometimes even a surprise dish...like dessert or cookies. Otherwise, no.
Bring something always.
Bring something always.
Just remembering...I once bought kazoos for everybody-25 pr30- to a christmas eve party. Man that was fun!!!!
I don't bring anything. And I hate it when people bring me something. Can we just get together and hang out without making a huge production out of it?
I'm not a big fan of eating at other people's houses, and I certainly don't have dinner at someone else's house.
Never show up empty-handed!
Jez, I even tried to proff read this before bit posted.
I don't do fancy dinners with friends. Usually pizza or bbq, and if they insist we say bring dessert. We'll usually grab a cheesecake from Superstore if they don't specify what to bring. Cheesecake, yum...
Ray.. When do you want to have an OG Batman party? ?
Whenever you want sugarbread!
