Today's Blind Items & MV Clue
The blind item is kind of hard, but it is a good one so wanted to get it out there. This actress/member of band/reality star recently had an operation to restore a good portion of one of her ears. She and her boyfriend got into an argument. He got her in a headlock and pulled all of her earrings out without removing the backs. With makeup and her long hair she can hide it from a distance but up close it is a mess and parts of her ear are a different color than others.

MV has been separated (real separation and not just kicking the guy out for a couple of days) and/or divorced at least once. Tomorrow's final clue will eliminate one of your favorite guesses.

I haven't really ever posted before but I had to drop in my two cents.
I worked for Epic Records when JLo's album came out and everyone at the record company knew that it wasn't JLo singing. That she had been "assisted" in the recording studio. MV is someone who would shake the record industry, not just the general public. Believe me, no one in the record industry would be remotely surprised that JLo doesn't really sing.
I agree with a lot of people that it has to be someone who has been applauded for their singing chops, like Mariah but I don't think its her. This blind is totally frustrating!

This BI came up over drinks with friends last night so we pulled it up on our BB's to read. One of my guy friends kept harping on the fact that Guy had access to MV's investments - which is unusual for a record producer. We mentioned that Mutt would have access to Shania's being married but who else?
Basically, the consensus of the table was "follow the money". Oh, and it was mentioned that it would be asinine to find a singer that had no talent whatsoever for this scam - because someone at sometime would make her sing. So like we said before, she can probably sing, just not like S.
I think a few of my friends are going to become CDAN readers after this.

In the back of my head I keep remembering one of the very first blinds I ever read on this sight. A few months after posting about a marriage failing there was a reveal which turned out to be not all the hot topics listed in the guesses, but none other than Shannon Elizabeth. Most of us may know who she is, but she is far from the star calibur that Enty led the blind item to be. So maybe this isn't anyone really big after all, and we are being led astray by false clues...the proverbial carrot dangling from the string while we all chase after it, only to discover in the end that there will never be a reveal to this blind....ever.

The real problem lies with Mutt. If this is Shania, all of the other bands he has ever worked with will be questioned. AC/DC replaced a dead lead singer quickly wouldn't you say. what does free singer mean?
I just dont think this is a big deal. There was a time when the multi octave range was a big deal, so maybe its someone who could sing but couldnt hit a particular note. CA had to prove she could hit a note for a soundtrack song, maybe this other person had a similar problem.
Shocking, yes, but really no big deal.
The only people who would shock me would be MC, WH, CA and Celine, mostly because they yack the most about their talent and pipes.

I think Enty might have left out the fact that MV was already recording before S came into play. That would make it obvious.
And I agree with what some people have been saying -- that MV can definitely sing, just not as well as S.
And you know how Mutt is a technical perfectionist in the studio...when doing jingles, he would go to great lengths to get perfect-sounding beats!

Cant' be Brit-Ent has said numerous times that every time he ever met Brit, she was very nice, down to earth and personable and never had a bad thing to say about her.
Shania all the way-the jingle queen herself. He is always saying mean things about her. She has been secluded by having her hubby record all of her songs, etc...A master like Mutt can mix voices very well and can make it sound like Shania is hitting those high notes. Can Shania sing? Sure! But that doesn't mean she might have had a lot of help in the studio.
You know, the idea that a woman might have been singing for a particularly higher-pitched male has some merit to it, but I think it's a long shot.
I do like the whole thing about the blind, when revealed, will open up a whole new can of worms which is what ends up shaking the music industry to it's core, and if that's the case, than it doesn't necessarily have to be a HUGELY popular singer.
Considering that Britney is wildly obvious, though, I'm placing myself on the Shania train as well.

Jax got me on the Britney train long ago. And I still say that while no one would be surprised today, back when Enty first posted the blind, people would have been SHOCKED. Hell, Milli Vanilli was still considered a huge scandal back then. As for the quality of Britney's singing, have any of you watched Crossroads? She does have a sweet and very recognizable voice, but it has no strength at all. She's good for "on the top" vocals, but not for actually carrying a song. I always knew her voice was enhanced in the studio, but I didn't know it was someone else's voice doing most of the work.

I have to jump in!!! Lucky I'm home sick and can devote hours to reading everyone's comments...and must chip in my two cents.
This is JLo. I listened to her early videos 'love don't cost a thing' 'if you had my love' and the voice is distinct for not sounding like jLo's speaking voice AT ALL. In her later post 2005 recordings, and on-stage duets with Marc Anthony, and most especially her Spanish-language recordings the voice is clearly different, in that it clearly has tones which are recognizeable as JLo's speaking voice. The voice of JLo and her first, second, third, and fourth CD's and the Spanish-language JLO, they are two different voices, at least in my mind.
Case in point, any of the english-language hits on JLO's debut, On the Six, do not sound like the voice on her Spanish song on the same record, No Me Ames.
What's strange about that is, I always thought that! I've loved JLO's cd's all along, but I was always surprised at the range, and I couldn't pick up her speaking voice at all in 'Waiting for Tonight' et al....
There is too much that can fit M.V....JLo had an association with PDiddy at that time. To orchestrate and maintain a cover up like this takes some power, most associated with Murder Inc. and the hip hop scene know to not open their mouths. Not too mention, JLO's second CD, JLo, DID do better than her first CD, On the Six. And who else followed up their debut CD with others in such quick succession.... On the Six (1999), JLO (2001), J to tha L-O!: The Remixes (2002) , This is Me, Then (2002)...
The exposing of this WOULD blow the music world up and shake it to it's core, just because JLO won SO many awards and of who she was associated with.
Last, when you think of rude divas, doesn't JLO come to mind? of COURSE she would be rude to the woman who made her famous (and some will argue that she was famous because she had started acting...her weak acting chops would not have sustained her breakout fame, it was her step up on the international music scene that sealed it)..and she was EVERYWHERE like no one else was...tv, movies, commercials, music, tabloids, Bennifer...on and on. JLO has sold 48 million albums worldwide. The timeline is very close to EL's, as well.
As for Shania, there's plenty of early amateur video of her, that nasally voice can't be duplicated and she still has it.

Revealing her Milli Vanilli act would be a massive blow to her ego and her career.

MV has toured. The blind implies that it was worldwide. J-Lo hadn't toured EVER.
In 2001, Lopez performed on tour on the Let's Get Loud "Live in Puerto Rico" Concert.

britney's CD sales have been on a downward drop since Baby One More Time (her first). Circus did slightly better than Blackout, but other than that there has been a serious pattern of decline in her sales.
therefore it 100% is not britney, unless that clue enty gave was a lie.
So it appears we're down to Britney, Shania and JLo.
Britney - I just can't see her being rude to S and even though I do think it would have been shocking in 2006 and the timing of the new clues now is suspect (Australia thing) her voice just isn't that great. S is supposed to be a good singer.
Shania - maybe I'm in denial but this is my top contender. Mutt has the means to do it and like someone else said here...follow the money. Plus, it would shake up HIS reputation, not hers and put everything he's done in the past into question. That would be devastating for alot of artists.
JLo - I guess I can buy but only for reasons similar the Mutt theory. Murder Inc...PDiddy...all those reputations would be at stake. My problem with this guess is it seems alot of people already knew even back in 2006 which means this isn't earth shattering. Plus the tour issue...I don't think we can still qualify her as touring.

I get home from work after midnight. Last night I gave a coworker a ride and stopped at her house for a little while. I'm off today, so I stayed up and read all the MV posts.
My first guess was Jlo, but she hasn't done many concerts.
How about Brandi or Monica? They kinda fit and have both fallen off the face of the earth.
The 'concert issue' with JLO does come up.... I don't think it's grasping at straws to revisit what EL said... he wrote "S is called by the guy because MV is going on tour and they want S to record some extra mixes and such for the tour".
JLo DID go on tour in 2001.
EL also wrote, at the end of the blind, "This involved literally millions of CD's and hundreds of concerts all over the world".
I don't think that necessarily means he meant MV headlined tours all over the world herself.... if you google or research Jennifer Lopez live performances you will see she DID participate in many many many concerts...from Top of the Pops, to numerous video award concerts eg. MTV Video Awards.
Why, checking out Jennifer Lopez performances on youtube alone for 'Love Dont' Cost A Thing' will show how many times she performed this song 'in concert'...it might not have been her concert, but it was in concert. She was everywhere with that song. Does that translate into "hundreds of concerts all over the world" ?

I was completely unconvinced it was JLo until christina's comments AND I found out she had 4 studio albums during the proposed timeline in the BI - which is about the same number Shania has too. This clue is important to me because I originally was convinced it was Brit based on the comment in the BI stating the process was repeated "several times" with S recording vocals for all the songs on each CD. My thought was Brit is the only one with enough albums to fit but that's not true. Plus I think Christina has proven that we can say JLo has "toured" even though not in the traditional sense as say Brit and Shania.
I guess the only 2 things really leaning me in favor of Shania are:
1. shock factor - Mutt's reputation as a producer is about as good as you get in the industry. It would be devastating to ALOT of artists and I don't think this is as true with JLo's circle.
2. The means to pull it off and even deceive the record company as Enty suspects. Mutt is a better fit for this. It sounds like alot of people suspected, if not outright knew, that it wasn't JLo's voice on those tracks.
Question for all of you:
Do J. Lo's latest albums sound like her old voice? Because post-2006 at the very latest, there was no more S.

I have to consider Shania then...but when I listen to her early video (this link is for Shania PRE-Mutt...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ztef0QXUQEI&feature=fvw) this is clearly the same nasally voice she has always had, this would be before S came on the scene, theoretically, so I have to rule out Shania on that basis, as this link is from Shania's first album in 1993, she met Mutt Lange at the Fan Fair promoting this first album in fact. I just can't see that her next albums, the Mutt Lange produced 'The Woman In Me' and 'Come on Over' feature a voice that is different from the one on this early video, to me, that means no "S" for Shania.
@Christina - this is beating a dead horse after Enty's clue today but our logic for that was established. S sounds ALOT like Shania but is even better. Her voice sounds the same on later albums but much much better. My guess was Mutt had heard S before and knew the similarities which is why he approached her. The gamble paid off in spades.
Its a mute point now tho :P

There's no way it's Shania. She was releasing albums in the mid 90s and a fair amount of success back then too in the country scene winning a bunch of awards. This is someone who broke big in early 2000s.
And it can't be Britney either... the clues say that the person doing the voice-work is quite spectacular. I'd hardly say that Britney has a decent voice at all. Besides, her speaking voice is quite similar to her singing voice, which is a giveaway that it's really her on the albums. Same can be said for Jennifer Lopez. Not a great voice and her singing voice sounds like her when she speaks.
Now I wish I could come up with an idea... sorry to poop on everyone's parade without anything to offer. Still trying to think of who this could possibly be!

I don't think anyone has zeroed in on the earlobe being many different shades from scarring. I tend to think this is a person of color because light skin scars less because the skin i is the same color throughout, where darker skin scars more obviously and sometimes forms keloids. Just a thought from a cosmetic point of view.

My bets on Jennifer Lopez. Britney and Janet seem too humble to be rude to this women simply because of her size and appearance. Madonna, too old. The women has only been doing this for several years not decades. Whitney? Again too old and has only been divorced, not separated.
