Gene Simmons & Shannon Tweed Getting Married

Well, it took 28 years and a reality show, but Gene Simmons and Shannon Tweed are getting married in a few weeks. I guess we know how Shannon answered in the season finale of the show. Getting married in a hotel makes everything easier, especially if it is like a mile from their house, which it is. One of my marriages was in a hotel. It was like one stop shopping. Ceremony in one of the ballrooms. Well, actually that makes it sound larger. It was in a ballroom, but they had the dividers up because there was a Mary Kay convention going on in most of the hotel. So, it was more like one-eighth of the ballroom was for the ceremony, then after, they moved us into another one-eighth for the reception which was nice, especially when the Mary Kay people started passing out free drinks. Plus, they had better food, so basically everyone just went over there. At the end of the night, no driving necessary, just have the bellman put you on a luggage cart and roll you off on the other side of your hotel room door. Wake up in the morning using your suit jacket as a blanket while you are huddled in a fetal position and you have yourself the beginning of a great honeymoon.

Anyway, Shannon and Gene's kids sent out lovely invitations, but the inside is the best.

What SWEET invitations (stealing the idea)! The "family portrait" is the cutest...
Ne'er liked Gene but e'er since seeing her in "DOOL" back-in-the-day, I've always liked Shannon -- and she still looks amazing!

The invitation is cool and appropriate for that family.

After all these years, why not get married? I've always wondered if all the womanizing stories were just part of the rockstar thing?

Sue Ellen Mishkey said...

His womanizing is true. Saw the pics with my own eyes.

Asking someone to marry you because you're afraid they're going to leave you is always a great reason to get married.

dj said...

well RQ he's also asking for TV ratings LOL

^lol! My bad, you're right ;)

When I read through this the first time, I thought he said Mary Kate as in Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen. I thought to myself "Thats Horrible. What a rotten weekend to get married." Then I went back and re-read it and thought "OH! Mary Kay! That's better....oh, wait. Maybe not"

All that pink would make me nauseous.

I was a little surprised at their relationship taking this turn because I had heard from a few different people that they had an open relationship - we only heard about Gene's womanizing but Shannon had her sidepieces too. I assumed that was why she kept razzing him about getting married but never actually took a stand or seemed to be all that outraged when stories of him cheating would surface...like that video of him banging some chick with his socks on *shudder*. So when she all of a sudden got so pissed about pictures of him having dinner with someone else, I figured it must be for ratings. Didn't work for me, I haven't watched that show in years *L*.

Barf.

Also, get a copyeditor if you're illiterate and don't want people guffawing at your invitations.

Also, ugly fonts.

Marriage is going to ruin it! Bet it won't last more than 2 years!

i like gene simmons, i totally do...super neat and fun guy, and pretty damn charming to boot. he's a ho, as are most musicians, and i feel not one iota of sympathy for him and shannon and the situations they've chosen to put themselves in...to me, a lot of those things are unacceptable and douchey (ie, the cheating)...but i can't gauge someone else's life by what is acceptable to me. they've gone into this for 28 yrs w/ eyes wide open. it makes them different from me, but it doesn't make them assholes...i hope they're serious about their commitment and make it work...i'm rooting for them.

I'm happy for the kids, but if I'd been Shannon, I'd have said no. She can do better than Gene.

Gene might be a pig but I found him surprisingly likable on their show and I really liked Nick and Sophie. He and Shannon brought up two really nice, gorgeous kids (and Nick is hilarious!)

Bangagong said...

@Maja with a J Of course the need for ratings was probably involved but also I think that Shannon's priorities may have shifted because of the kids. In that episode where he got caught having dinner with someone else, Gene was supposed to have dinner with Shannon and the kids at home because they were visiting from college. I think Shannon did whatever she could to provide stability for Nick and Sophie but now that they're grown and out of the house and she's left with only Gene, she's reassessing what she will put up with. This happened to one of my friends who is now getting divorced. And let me give a shout out to those kids because they are refreshingly non-annoying. Nick and Sophie are lovely!(And Gene credits Shannon for that; he told his therapist that she raised them, he didn't say "we.")

Shannon Tweed was always such a great actress in those movies she did on Cinemax. I hope Gene will let her continue to act once they get married! :)

There is obviously something Shannon finds attractive in Gene. What more is there to say? I wish them the best!
Naysayers... if they haven't split yet, why would they now?

I think the invitation's a total hoot! Good to see the kids (and, presumably, their parents) have a sense of humor about the whole business. "Sure, we're weird, but we're family, damn it!"

Mazel tov, you crazy kids...(Gene & Shannon, that is)

Henriette said...

I like Gene more than Shannon because he is more honest. I like the kids too. I agree with Maja, Shannon was in for the open relationship too. She was not knitting doilies at home while Gene was on tour. How come Gene has to play the bad guy. Who wants to bet all of this will be filmed for next season? It's all about ratings.

Is Sue Ellen #2 supposed to be me or something?

That's pretty pathetic.

(And incredibly weak. This is who you're dealing with on here, people of CDaN. So you know.)

Ida Blankenship said...

I just wanted to say -- in case certain people are wondering -- that I am NOT (correctly spelled, yaaaaay!) Sue Ellen Mischke, but I also applaud the person who is. Frankly, that shit is hilarious.

P.S. DUNE?!

P.P.S. Proof that it's *not* me? I adore Smokey and the Bandit, and I would never poke fun at it for the sake of a satirical blogger profile. *proudly puts nose in air*

Hahaha, sorry Sue Ellen #1, but the misspelling of your handle has been bugging me too *L* I'm not #2 though, just putting that out there :D

Just for the record, it isn't me either. Not that SEM (original flavor) will believe me.
