interesting article today. They claim that ABC executives told them the reason that Brooke Burke was replaced by Erin Andrews is they think it will get more young men to watch the show. A few things wrong with this line of thinking. No young guys are going to watch a show because of a co-host. I think ABC executives think it will happen, but they also thought that Lucky 7 was a sure fire winner. What also doesn't make sense is how they think Erin Andrews will bring in more guys than Brooke Burke. Are they trying to tell me that young men don't find Brooke Burke sexy but Erin is? That makes no sense. I'm sure there are guys who feel that way, but I don't think it is a big enough margin to really matter and to take the additional step that young men will now want to watch is crazy. I can't believe I have written about the show three times in the past week. This post isn't so much about whether Brooke or Erin is better although Brooke is, but rather the kind of thinking that brings you your network programming each year. It is the same kind of thinking that is giving Matthew Perry his 34th chance to star in a television series after CBS picked up his Odd Couple remake. The one great show Matthew did have after Friends, Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip was canceled because network executives thought it was too smart for the average viewer.
