NY Post Blind Items

Which closeted George W. Bush appointee and political strategist was at an all-gay birthday party at Union Square the other night?

Karl Rove?

Tony Snow.

Tony Snow passed away from cancer a while ago.

I wish it was Karl Rove.
He has done so much to hurt gay rights, starting back in Texas to win W the governorship. He continued to use the evangelical fear of gays throughout the Bush presidential administration to advance his agenda.

I wish it was Condi. But unless the Union Square in question is the one in SF, she was on this coast this weekend. http://www.sportsnipe.com/video/1693024/san-francisco-october-10-condoleezza-rice-waits-on-fifth-getty-images.html

Unfortunately, I think the NY Post is referring to NYC's Union Square. Damn shame.

BUT if it were Karl Rove, I'd be dancing in the streets. I've never gotten the gay vibe off him, but that doesn't mean much. And he's done so much to increase hate against the GLBT community---would serve him right to have to come out of the closet in a humiliating way.

I'd have a hard time believing that a party of gay people would allow Karl Rove to join in on any type of personal celebration. Then again, we do have many self-loathing gay people in the community. Chances are they all hang out together.

Not that I'm defending anyone, but just because he/she attended the party doesn't mean he/she is gay. But, since most of Bush's people were so anti-GLBT, it would be a huge embarrassment for them.

What about that reporter who was a plant a few years ago. Then it turned out he was a frequent flyer on several gay dating and fetish websites?

How were the Bush people anti-gay? Obama is against gay marriage, too.

This is just random, but Karl Rove's dad is actually gay. He left his mother for another guy when he a young child.

And Clinton was the one who introduced "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" and the Defense of Marriage Act. Why does the gay community seem to give him a pass?

Didn't know that about Karl Rove. A fascinating biography will be written about him someday.

I'm thinking it's Ken Mehlman or Melman. He worked in the Bush White House and was Republican Party Chairman. Always shot down rumors about his orientation.

Throwing it out there:

Josh Bolten. One-time chief of staff.

It is probably Ken Melman, he co-chaired the Bush reelection committee in 2004 and was head of the RNC from 2006-2007. Rumors about his being gay have been around DC forever.

At the time, Don't Ask, Don't Tell was an improvement. DOMA may have been introduced during Clinton's administration, but it was put through by a Republican (Barr) and passed overwhelmingly in a Republican congress.

Mehlman was "outed" by Bill Maher on Larry King a few years back. He had previously denied allegations. I think he resigned after that.

rent Out Rage, shit loads of Washington are gay.

Ken Melman - he's pretty much out of the closet in DC.

Republicans have long sided with the far-right which is horrendously homophobic. There are factions of the far-right in favor of jailing and killing gays.

Clinton and Obama are "given a pass" because while they are publicly "anti-gay-marriage" (albeit stupidly so), they don't encourage a reactionary agenda against gays. They aren't whipping up a frenzy among the people who beat up gay people on the streets and pass laws against them in far-right states.

CarolMR - How soon you forget that the Bushies tried to change the friggin constitution to ban gay marriage

It's always the religious, conservative Republicans who have sex with members of the same sex.

Snooze...

I have to disagree with CarolIMR.
I think most politicians could really care less about gay marriage. I think they have to take a stand to please their party and the people who voted for them.
I think Obama is for gay marriage, but I think he has to be careful to not piss off the "religious" voters in this country.
I don't know why people care so much about gay marriage. If it doesn't affect your life then let people live their own lives.

I think it's one of Bush's former press secretaries, I believe his first name is Scott. I'd put $$$ on it.

I'm going to wait an entire year before I criticize Obama...I voted for him. I'm very disappointed, thus far.

yeah, i'd be a whole lot more 'disappointed' if he'd just let the banks fail and allowed the entire US economy to go off the cliff.

come on. 9 months, people. has any fucking president EVER taken over a bigger mess than obama? not in MY lifetime and i'm 60.

I'm very impressed by Obama, given the scope of what he has achieved. If the general public realized how near we were to total financial collapse, they'd be throwing flowers at his feet.

Personally .. as much as those assholes raged and used anything gay as a wedge issue .. it would not surprise me to find out ALL those Bushie MF's are gay! Self-hating gays if ever there was a self-hating gay, is the vibe I get off that crew.

But my vote is Melman .. if we are limited to one person.
