I'd say Whitney, but she was born in New Jersey. Hopefully, it's not Mary J. Blige. But she has struggled with hits over the past couple of years with her songs charting at just number 25 on the Billboard singles charts over that time.
At first I thought MJB because she is forever touring but MJB has tons of publishing money because she co writes with her sister.
I don't think Jennifer H is from NYC, I believe she is Chicago born.
I don't know if it's Jennifer Hudson - I bet she's got a pretty penny from Weight Watchers.
Christina Aguilera was born in NYC but I'm not sure if she isn't more pop than R&B.

Mary J. has publishing rights and her HSN fragrances sell really well. Plus, she has a few endorsement deals. She could be broke, but it's hard to imagine.

Ashanti grew up in Glen Cove, Long Island. It is is an upper middle class area. I lived right next to it growing up. Not exactly dirt poor.

How about Mariah? That woman runs through money like it was water, and she hasn't had a hit in a while. Plus you know those twins of hers have everything every high-end designer ever made for babies.
Mariah has publishing rights and this is totally Mary J because she's supporting her non-working husband, his kids and probably paying his alimony. Mary spends well above her means and she only gets a small percentage of that HSN deal. Hell; why do you think she made it in the first place, she needed the cash.

Mariah? Are you people fuckin kidding me? Every album she's ever had over the past two decades has been a smash hit. Her CHRISTMAS album came out over a decade ago and I'll bet it hits the top ten again in a few weeks. She is nowhere near close to poor. And I don't think Ashanti has ever won a Grammy. This is Mary J. Blige all the way.
