Alec actually looked surprised and kept his speech short. Wonderful, absolutely splendid I say.

ablake said...

Awww, I would have given it to Betty

smash said...

Ethrone- Hillllllllaaaaaarrrrrria

JSierra said...

Someone call the hospital because Lena just got buuuuurned!

LottaColada said...

LMAO at the Lena comment. Where is she anyway, is she there?

smash said...

Good for Tina!!! Love her!

Laura said...

Tina is such a class act! I truly love her so much!

ethorne said...

That's it @Smash!

smash said...

Ethrone- I totally do that in my head everytime I see her name!! :)

ablake said...

DAN????
Dan Conner??

Those guys look like the 3 tenors up there

smash said...

Ron Howard-----you ARE the father!!!

LottaColada said...

Noah Wyle cn still get it.

Laura said...

Holy bondage Jane!

smash said...

Jane Lynch looks stunning!!

smash said...

Go modern family. Though they should give noagenda credit for their wonderful "if you seeee something saaay something" jingle.

LottaColada said...

Well deserved. The whole cast is always on point on MF

prolixe said...

Can't hate Anne with an E - Anne of Green Gables fan here! My name is normal but with an extra letter that confuses (thanks, mom). It's unusual, but I like it. I'll correct it for news articles and for people I know, otherwise, don't care.

When you think about it, having a unique name in H'wood is kind of important when you're gunning for an award. How many Ann/AnnaLynne/AnnaBeth/Anna/Anna Nicole/etc. names are floating around?

"A-n-n looks absolutely dreadful; but Anne-with-an-e is quite distinguished." ~Anne Shirley

ablake said...

Hahaha It looks like Sophia was about to trip that guy in a race down the aisle. Anyone else notice how she was hauling ass? That's hilarious (especially that jab he made at her with her 'development deal') That must sting

a non a miss said...

I'm an AnnE as well so I can't hate on her for her name, but I will hate on her for having dental. You can afford it, you don't need insurance!

smash said...

Can't wait for Oz! Seriously. Not a fan of Franco but that looks like a beautiful film.

JSierra said...

Smash me too! My youngest sister and I were just talking about that. Sorry for the specification of youngest, I have a million younger brothers and sisters so sometimes it helps me sort them out in my head when I type out where she is.

ablake said...

Naomi is so pretty

LottaColada said...

Julianne's Palin transformation is really something extraordinary. The mannerisms are all there as well as the voice.

Laura said...

We were just talking about how good OZ looks! I love Julianne (ha with an E) she deserves this win.

The Real Dragon said...

yay Julia lol

Sherry said...

Good God Charlotte Rampling is aging beautifully!

ablake said...

That actually made me like Liev, that he ran down to help her. Though, why wear a dress that you can't manage up the little stairs in?

AnonPLS said...

WTF is Rose Byrne wearing?? It looks like something from the 1984 Jessica McClintock prom collection. Does her stylist hate her guts or something?

ethorne said...

Did anyone else see Phillip S. H creepily rubbing his hands?

OneGirlRevolution said...

OMG, Clive Owen is hot.

Laura said...

Thank God Kevin was not there, he was insufferable at the GG.

ethorne said...

Crossing Jordan's dad!

feraltart said...

Hi everyone,
We have a public holiday today, so I am watching with you, so excited.
Alec Baldwin, bad hair. Julianne Moore, bad boobs. Lev Schreiber & Naomi Watts, expect a split announcement after the Oscars.

Sherry said...

@ABlake: late to reply but yes Nurse Jackie rocks. Edie Falco is so wonderful and of course the writers.

LottaColada said...

I think I just saw a clip of our dance off guys ;)

kj said...

@erhome. alec thought she was talking about him and saying hilarious

ethorne said...

Dammit @Lotta, I'm not home to record it!

kj said...

ok missed some much fixing dinner. did claire danes and damion lewis win yet?

The Real Dragon said...

I wanna see side effects. Jude and Channing<3 god heard my prayers

LottaColada said...

Commercial Poll: Who is Best Dressed tonight?

kj said...

i like liev. and i agree about the dress. what are the stylists thinking if they cant walk up the stairs?

kj said...

me i am in my robe and eating dinner

Laura said...

@kj. Not yet!

ethorne said...

Naomi looks good but it always looks the same.

JSierra said...

Best Dressed Nominees are:

Tina Fey
Amy Poehler
Sally Field
Sarah Hyland
My girl Jen Law
Jane Krakowski

Laura said...

Best dressed is hard so far for me but love Helen Hunts dress, Tina F. And Jane L look great. I also love Merion C. Dress, I'm sure I'm missing so done.

Laura said...

kj said...

what is the deal with the split of naomi and liev?

Laura said...

I meant someone (twice). Damn auto correct!

smash said...

I hadn't seen the full le mis trailer. I actually teared up a bit. It looks really good and I am glad she won.

LottaColada said...

@kj, LOL I think you just knocked out the whole competition! Sorry starlets!

ethorne said...

I can't hear Alec say dick without thinking about Schweddy Balls. And no one in this time would ever have the name Dick.

LottaColada said...

kj said...

me i am in my robe and eating dinner
5:55 PM

FTW!

feraltart said...

kj, I just have a gut feeling, they look awkward.

DewieTheBear said...

I would put Helen Hunt at the top of best dressed (though the clutch was too matchy-matchy) with Alfre Woodward close behind.

Was there a Jon Hamm sighting? I don't remember seeing him on the red carpet.

Wish Mary Tyler Moore had been able to do the Dick Van Dyke tribute; but I have heard her health is very bad.

Laura said...

I never understood why Dick is a nickname for Richard.

smash said...

I love Dick!! I love the Dick Van Dyke show. He is such a wonderful classic humor.

ethorne said...

Robert DeNiro is not impressed.

Laura said...

Aw Mary was supposed to be there.

ablake said...

Thanks Sherry!

Sherry said...

Yes Dick VanDyke is such a class act and appears to be in such great shape. Know why? Cuz he's been sober for 50 years. *takes chug of beer*.

ethorne said...

He looks like such a happy guy.

LottaColada said...

Commercial Poll: Who is Worst Dressed?

smash said...

Julianne Moore worst dressed

kj said...

@ feraltart. i read something that said he wanted to adopt the kid and she freaked out. didnt know if that was true or not. are you in australia? what is your holiday?

Laura said...

Yes Julianne and I liked the dress but not the fit.

feraltart said...

Lotta, as a big busted woman it annoys me when women let them droop. You have to dress for your figure, so I vote Julianne Moore. It also looks like giant ants are crawling up her dress.

Laura said...

Not loving Claire Danes dress as well.

smash said...

I feel like the fabric is just so stiff and thick. The stitching up her boobs is god aweful. Loved project runway this week. Did anyone watch? After last season this season is fresh with lots of talent it seems....

kj said...

i actually wasnt looking at the dresses since i missed the red carpet. i was looking at whose face was frozen and who had wrinkles. like julianne moore botox but no boob job? charlotte rampling no work. same for sigourney weaver.

kj said...

amy looks hot

kj said...

ooh love buscemi but damien is the best

feraltart said...

kj, yes I am in Australia, it was Australia Day on Saturday so we have a public holiday today (Monday) because the actual day fell on a weekend.

smash said...

Hamm has some serious oil in his hair. Very 50s.

smash said...

Yeeeaaahhh. I love love love Malcom in the middle. Bryan is hilarious. I have never seen breaking bad though.

LottaColada said...

I think Frieda Pinto looks a hot mess but she's not even nominated so Julianne's offense is worse.

smash said...

My boyfriend went to highschool with Aaron Paul.

DewieTheBear said...

@smash, maybe Bradley Cooper gifted Hamm his entire stash of hair goo.

I'm still not sold on the all-teams concept for "Project Runway" but at least this week, it worked well. Lady Funeral is definitely going to be early cannon fodder; and Patricia was robbed of a win (though I agreed with her and Daniel both being in the top).

OneGirlRevolution said...

@smash...the theater was in tears when she sang. I held it together until her last scene with Jean Val Jean.

kj said...

claires danes!!!!!!

feraltart said...

It is absolutely pouring with rain here. We have flooding in Queensland and NSW, people have been evacuated. Hope the weather is better wherever everyone else is.

DewieTheBear said...

Are those Mardi Gras beads around her neck?

LottaColada said...

Michelle Dockery's dress is also very questionable

feraltart said...

Yeah Claire Danes!!!

ethorne said...

Jessica Lange is so beautiful. I wish she would have won.

kj said...

YAY!!!!!!!!!!! what an actress and what a show

JSierra said...

SMash I can second that.

Also:
Frieda Pinto
January Jones
Lea Michele
Sofia Vergara (something about it
just isn't working for me)
Claire Danes
Anne Hathaway
Eddie Redmayne

LottaColada said...

haha the spanx reference was genius

smash said...

Lola- I am a sucker and cry at almost anything, I have to watch those sort of movies at home. :)

Dewie- I agree the team concept is a little weird. My bf had the pleasure of watching with me and even he was like "what the hell is the checkered pattern." Funeral lady seems sweat but she won't last.

Laura said...

Ok Im liking Claire's dress better now that I watched her walk. I love Homeland!

smash said...

Chastain-Howard ;)

JSierra said...

Add Morena Baccarin to the top of that list.

Chast...ain. $10 says she almost said Howard.

B626 said...

Did Busy Phillips wear that pregnancy getup to get a reaction?
Well she got mine-yuck.

The Real Dragon said...

im going switcihng back and forth with this and Honey boo boo. dont judge me lol

JSierra said...

Smash I did! I loved how that girl who was talking so much shit about how she was the best designer and every else can suck it, got kicked off first.

LottaColada said...

Michael Clarke Duncan's passing upsets me so :(

smash said...

I miss you MC Dunken. Sweet big guy.

LottaColada said...

Jessica Chastain, "Zero Dark Thirty"
Jennifer Lawrence, "Silver Linings Playbook"
Helen Mirren, "Hitchcock"
Naomi Watts, "The Impossible"
Marion Cotillard, "Rust and Bone"

LottaColada said...

smash jinx!

smash said...

:) he was such a great guy and Dick Clark!

Laura said...

My vote is for JLaw! @thanks for the commercial polls Lotta!

LottaColada said...

I think J Law will win.

feraltart said...

Lotta, hubby & I just saw Silver Linings yesterday, loved it, but I think Jessica Chastain is going to win - Zero Dark Thirty hasn't even opened here yet. Seriously, I am going to have to build an ark.

LottaColada said...

lol no prob :) it was getting super quiet during commercials

smash said...

Jsierra- I was totally acting like her during their kicking off speech. Her baby doe eyes don't fool anyone! "I'm the best! I'm gonna win this shit!!!"

"Awwweeee. I suck" :( hahaha

kj said...

@ lotta chastain. she was just so good in that role and i think this is the makeup call for bigelow

JSierra said...

Feral stay safe! Hopefully the downpour will end soon. It's been a little rainy in Houston today, nothing like what y'all are getting!

Lotta you know my vote goes to my bff Jen. I just know that if we met in real life, we would be best friends. I can feel it.

kj said...

homeland so mandy can get some love

JSierra said...

I wish we could have a thread like this for all of our favorite TV shows. Like Walking Dead next week!!

smash said...

They are really trying to push Jessica into everyone's faces. I think she will win.

Totally offtopic. I was looking at posts from 2007 when Jessica simpleton was dating John Mayer. Whooooore!!! A big fat whore she was!!! Like a damn blow up doll. Unrecognizable from today! Crazy different. End rant... Sorry.

The Real Dragon said...

im team Jessica. I just love her. i wont be mad tho if jennifer win

kj said...

@ jsierra. is your brother okay? did they close the school for a little while?

kj said...

wow downstairs cleans up pretty well

OneGirlRevolution said...

YAY! Downton Abbey!

smash said...

Good for them! :)

LottaColada said...

I love the rant @smash, and to think we thought she was wholesome around that time!

OneGirlRevolution said...

Allen Leech (Tom) is adorable. Love him.

smash said...

Thanks for hanging Out everyone! I don't usually watch but you all made it worth it!

LottaColada said...

I gotta say I love Sally Field's gown, age appropriate and such a beautiful color.

smash said...

Lotta- I should him one picture and said guess who that is. Neither of us would have known it was her. She had the worst orange tan, big big fish lips, hair raised to the rafter. Eiiishhh.

Redd said...

nurse jackie is pretty damn good

DewieTheBear said...

Rather sad that at an awards ceremony exclusively for actors, so few of them seemed capable of memorizing a few lines in their roles as presenters.

kj said...

i thought it was hysterical that mayer was the second fiddle at the white house when he was the plus one for katy perry. he is such a douche and she has such bad taste in men. as far as jessica simpson, now that mayer is going nowhere fast and she is a gazillionaire, i bet he is kicking himself.

kj said...

smash said...

Showed not should.!

Sherry said...

Yes!! Downton Abbey. But WTF was up with Sigourney Weavers dress. I had two blue collar workers in my living room talking about how horrid it was.

LottaColada said...

OMG!!!!!!!

prolixe said...

Yay, Downton Abbey WHAT? SHARE!!!

smash said...

Nice upset! Good job J Law. Stay classy!!!!!!

JSierra said...

YEah!! Group hugs all around!

Redd said...

yay for J Law, yipee!

kj said...

that dress is beautiful

feraltart said...

Go Jennifer!!! Beautiful speech.

OneGirlRevolution said...

JLaw looks fab (I still think she might have had a nose job). Her dress is a beautiful color.

smash said...

Nice upset! Good job J Law. Stay classy!!!!!!

Laura said...

Nice speech JLaw!

LottaColada said...

I know she was mortified that she tripped and stuff but I found it endearing, so happy for her!

LottaColada said...

Commercial Poll: Who will win Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role?

Bradley Cooper, "Silver Linings Playbook"
Daniel Day-Lewis, "Lincoln"
John Hawkes, "The Sessions"
Denzel Washington, "Flight"
Hugh Jackman, "Les Miserables

The Real Dragon said...

congrats Jen

Still love you Jessica

smash said...

Hugh Jackman.

Laura said...

DDL for the win!

LottaColada said...

I think Daniel Day Lewis will win but I would like Hugh to get it.

Laura said...

Although my heart wants Hugh to take home the naked guy.

ethorne said...

@Sherry- And? I'm a blue collar worker & hope I 'm not the only one here.

smash said...

Sigourney might be worst dressed. The camera and lights did her no favors just on top.

JSierra said...

KJ yeah he ended up being at work that day, thankfully. Are you going back through old posts?

ethorne said...

Hooray for JLaw!

prolixe said...

{hate face}

stupid cable package and crappy streaming.

kj said...

no i just remember. my daughter is at smu and i read all things texas now. glad to know he is okay.

JSierra said...

Laura he will be doing that regardless of winning. I kid I kid, I'm just jealous.

OneGirlRevolution said...

Oooo...love Viola's dress. That color is stunning on her.

smash said...

I am reading old posts from 2007. It is crazy. The celebs look so different enty was snarky as hell back then.

feraltart said...

Daniel Day-Lewis, Botox?

JSierra said...

Kj you probably end up reading some crazy stuff, thanks for asking though!

OneGirlRevolution said...

There were just "awwwww"s (disappointment) all around in my house.

Kelly said...

Of course! DDL!

LottaColada said...

He's so classy, can't hate on DDL

Sherry said...

I was so sure Jess would win but my husband was thrilled and sad that JLaw won. Thrilled cuz she's hot and sad because she didn't thank him. I told him it was because theirs was a love clandestine.

smash said...

He is a handsome man!!!!

JSierra said...

Aww the look on Hugh Jackman's face was golden. He seems like such a genuine fellow.

kj said...

i live in colorado and had several friends whose kids were shot at columbine. i see that kind of news and it takes me right back.

OneGirlRevolution said...

That was a lovely shout out to JP and several others.

(Why didn't I know DDL was British?)

smash said...

Sorry Jsierra I thought you were talking to me. :) I am not kj

Laura said...

hehe @JSierra you are probably right. DDL is so amazing though so, so I'm happy for him.

LottaColada said...

Hahahah I thought the announcer said J. Law

smash said...

Jude Law=hair plugs? :)

feraltart said...

Didn't expect Argo. Ben looks shocked - genuinely, not Taylor Swift style.

OneGirlRevolution said...

Argo! That makes me really glad for Ben.

LottaColada said...

Way to go Ben & crew! Argo is such a great film. Tate Donovan still looks handsome after all these years.

Laura said...

I would love to learn Farsi, such a beautiful language.

The Real Dragon said...

Get that Oscah Affleck

kj said...

so happy for ben and i hope he wins big at the oscars

LottaColada said...

oh dragon, the Oscar snub makes me so upset now that he sweeped all of these other awards. Bastards!

Laura said...

I wish it was not over! Thank you all for making it a fun SAGs! I will see you all at the Oscars!

The Real Dragon said...

ARGO was really good win. He bettah win that OSCAH lol

Laura said...

I think that after the snub and all the wins for Ben that Argo will get best picture.

JSierra said...

Whaaat it's already over? I switch to Honey Boo Boo for one second and I miss it.

On to Girls. I will stay and chat about the other shows on tonight if anyone is interested!

The Real Dragon said...

@lottacolada. I know I bet those mofos are regretting it. Argo was good ass film. He deserve that director award.

The Real Dragon said...

Honey boo boo was hilarious.

They are now giving some shit called Plastic wifes. bitches be cray cray.

OneGirlRevolution said...

I'm watching X games...the snowmobile trick guys are out of their freakin' minds. WTH?

Laura said...

Oh I need to catch up on Girls! I'm not spoiler sensitive so have at it!

smash said...

Good night ladies! Thanks for making the sags fun!

Agent**It said...

smash, that was original Enty :)

LottaColada said...

I could've sworn that on the E! preshow they said Jessica Biel would be there with Justin. He's hanging out with JLaw and BCoop in E!'s pics.

Laura said...

Just switched to the middle of "The Makeover" a new show I guess, anyway some of the Boston accents are wicked awesome.

JSierra said...

Laura you haven't missed anything yet, and seeing as you and I are the only ones here who like this show idk why I am doing this buuut
**GIRLS SPOILER ALERT***

Hannah got Adam arrested last week! Ha I thought it was hilarious but really shitty at the same time. Adam is really turning out to be a little on the crazy side. There is another big thing but I will only tell you if you want me too
***END SPOILER***

Dragon I saw that nonsense, those ladies are wannabe Real Housewives, and that is not a good thing to want.

Lotta do you know if anywhere is showing after party specials? That always seems like the best part.

dia papaya said...

Hey what I miss?

*hee hee*

I forgot this was on tonight. Rats! Guess I need to catch up. The dresses look a LOT better than GGs.

Vkn said...

Me too!!!!

Sherry said...

My comment about the blue collar worker was it was two men who think plaid flannel is high fashion and even THEY questioned that fashion choice. My husband can't understand why your shoes and belt should match. LOL!

ethorne said...

@Sherry- OK, gotcha. Sorry about the misunderstanding. :)

Sherry said...

Ethorne: No worries. My husband is the smartest man I know, not to sound obsequious. He can MAKE anything. People can look down their noses on plumbers but without that plumbing they certainly need them don't they? They can look down on carpenters but they need a roof over their head some quite grand. Not to wax eloquent. Blue collar workers build and maintain our infrastructure and no one ever gives them any credit.

However the LAST thing the Opster cares about is fashion. It was hilarious to hear him comment on Sigourney Weaver's dress. He just never really cares. Totally out of character.

JSierra said...

BTW White Lily and aall of our other Brazilian friends, are you guys ok? Hopefully no one was injured or worse in that fire this morning.

Flo said...

Everytime Ann Hathaway wins award another child loses its soul.

dia papaya said...

I came back to see if White Lily posted too. I hope she's ok.

We are thinking about you White Lily!!! Sending lots of prayers your way :)

Selock said...

Ehhh...I gave difficulty making time for these monocultural circle jerks anymore (used to love them!).

Esp when I can be watching Shahs of Sunset, you know?

Anonymous said...

I missed all the fun last night have to give my best and worst picks for the dresses:
Best:
Nina Dobrev
Sally Field
Viola Davis
Helen Hunt
Nicole Kidman
Elizabeth Moss
Clea DuVall
Worst:
Sigourney Weaver
Jessica Pare
Naya Rivera
Julie Bowen
Freda Pinto
January Jones
Overall there was a lot of blah and predictable gowns. Some tried to step out of the box they fell off instead. I don't know how they get it so wrong I would love to dress up like that! In another life...

Count Jerkula said...

I got soooo happy when Jennifer Lawrence's skirt appeared to be falling off as she walked on stage. It was awarded 3 rewinds and play backs. 2 at regular speed, 1 slo mo. Yeah it was a tease, and frustrating, but the split second when I thought it was going to hit the deck was truly exciting.
