Alright alright alright!

I'd like to thank the 6,000 or so Academy members for not giving Leo DiCaprio an Oscar last night thus allowing me to continue watching movies which I would have banned if he won. Bitch got owned and he was pissed. :(
I don't like that song by Adeeda Dazoom or whatever but it won because it's the only one that people will d/l or buy.
Good for Lupita--nice moves on the dance floor too.
(back to cleaning up the mess the drunk commentators left in the green room last night. Empty bottles, cans, condom wrappers, pizza boxes.

good morning TTM

Ray Nicolet said...

Why the Leo hate?

sandybrook said...

Just don't like him, very smarmy and cocky, and I don't think he's real talented as an actor. But he's given really good roles to play.

TalksTooMuch said...

Morning sandybrook! Get rid of your craigslist ho okay? I don't not like Leo, but I have only found him attractive once, during the SNL opening recently. Seemed to have a sense of humour about himself

Nutty_Flavor said...

What was up with Teavolta? And why was he there, anyway? All the other A+ guys with nothing nominated - RDJ, Cruise, Affkeck, Depp, Damon - were smart enough to spend the night at home on the couch.

sandybrook said...

yeah. she gone. :)))
See I don't think he has a sense of humor either--he should have taken pizza last night. I dont think he was happy to be there at all. In a real world Matty has not had better roles or has better acting talent but Matty has a statue, a beautiful wife and family, and Leo has his pussy posse trolls.

TalksTooMuch said...

I think MM got typecast because he is so pretty and charming, Leo has actually played against that typecasting somewhat. I agree, I think MM has the better life, but I bet a lot of married dudes secretly wish they had Leo's life for a weekend. Or two

Best cdan oscar comment was about john travolta wearing his Hipster wiglet. Whomever said it should get an Oscar. T'was funny.

Nutty_Flavor said...

Leo is in line for the Denzel Washington consolation prize Oscar - after years of acclaimed performances, he'll finally get a statue for some middling movie as a reward for years of hard work.

Pip said...

Didn't watch, just looked at dresses online. . Lupita Nyong'o was luminous.

Ah, I like Leo. He's good to watch. Not the best actor, but interesting movies.
He had to know that Mcconnaheyyy was gonna win. Matt is an awful actor who always plays himself except in this role. That's what made people sit up and take notice.

sandybrook said...

Dont forget Matty has played bongos nude on a beach--hes been where Leo is and done that! It's a shallow life maybe a bit fun but in the end you wind up old and alone.
I think Kristin needs to stand up and take a bow@fancy

Pretty much everything went as expected/predicted & I am perfectly ok with it all. Every award I had any interest in went to who I wanted it to go to. Gravity won what I wanted it to, 12 Years won what I thought it should & wanted it to. Perhaps only thing I'd change was Best Actor to Chiwetel & Best Supporting to Barkhad but no problems with who did win either.

Leo is an amazing actor whatever his personality may be like. I haven't seen any of the Oscar-nominated movies this year, but I think MM deserved the win. Leo has had bad luck being up against other incredible performances, but I think Nutty_Flavor is right--he'll finally get a win in a year without standouts.

Ray Nicolet said...

MM has in the past few years started to deviate from his normal roles (Mud, Killer Joe, True Detective) whereas Leo doesn't challenge himself as much (except in Django) and plays himself basically (Wolf and Gatsby)

JSierra said...

So happy Lupita won! These weren't the winners I expected for some reason, and I like that. I'm sad I missed all the Oscar crazienss last night :(

sandybrook said...

JSierra it wasnt the same drinking game w/o you

Nutty_Flavor said...

What was with Julia Roberts? She looked like she got dressed at a Frederiks of Hollywood end-of-season clearance sale.

Renoblondee said...

Leo is not a natural actor. He's over the top so many times.

ItsCourtneyD said...

I'm still trying to figure out Cate Blanchett's "suck it" comment to Julia. I'm sure it's an inside joke and not meant to be nearly as interesting or entertaining as I'd like it to be but I wonder how many ppl would like to tell horse face to suck it...simply my thoughts.

ItsCourtneyD said...

I'd like to thank them, too. It was funny to see his pouty face.

JSierra said...

Sandy I won't fail you guys again! If I was a responsible adult I would have posted the rules before going out instead of depriving everyone.

Eros said...

Yay!!! That beautiful queen won. Yay for lupita . And the movie won best pic. I havent seen that one yet but its on my list now. I havent seen dallas buyers club but definitely want to see that now with mcconaughey winning and jared winning.

Slap-n-Tickle said...

@Courtney - Doesn't Julia tell people to "suck it"? I feel like I've heard that somewhere.

Nutty_Flavor said...

@Eros, now it's up to Hollywood to make sure she goes the Meryl Streep route (1978 Best Supporting Actress Winner) with a variety of interesting work, and not the Mira Sorvino route (1995 winner, last seen in obscure TV movies)

ItsCourtneyD said...

See I don't know. I don't follow her too much because she seems so hateful so I ignore her. Ha she may very well tell ppl that and she laughed when cate said it so maybe it's all some big joke.

Leekalicious said...

Re Julia's dress. OMG There is no excuse for that. Even if it's a vintage gown (not sure) it could still have been altered. A burlap sack would have been an improvement.

Its just U said...

Could it have been a nod to last year when JLaw said 'suck it Meryl'?
I didn't watch so don't know the context.

Eros said...

@ Nutty Here here!! I second that emotion, Nutty. I was a huge Mira sorvino fan. A part of me wants to believe she tired of Hollywood and that is the real reason she stopped acting. I think getting married and having babies had a little to do with that too though. Good for her...I just hope shes happy in whatever shes doing. Always liked her...

FlirtyChick74 said...

+1 @ Sandbrook. Summed up my feelings.

Henriette said...

No surprises last night except, maybe, the Lupita win. I was glad American Hustle got shut out. It was an alright movie with good performances by Bale and Adams, but not worth all the hype.

califblondy said...

Sandra Bullock was the one who seemed pissed the whole night.

Jason Blue Eyes said...

I was 22 out of 24 picks.

Nailed It (almost).

My co-worker asked me this morning if Clooney was still dating Stacey and wanted to know why she wasn't at the Oscars last night. Hmmm...I wonder what Stacey did do last night?

@ Marina Did she do that uncomfortable, hysterical laugh she does... that would have been the cherry on top.

I watched Cate's speech on Youtube. Julia was laughing, I think they're friends. I find Cate to be bitchy & cold personally, but good on her for winning. I want to know what she meant when she said what she did to Sandy? I await our all-knowing insiders to get back to me. Sorry I missed yesterday's party.

Nope they aren't there

~~Stepforded~~ said...

@feraltart - I love Cate BUT I found her acceptance, and press, speeches to be a little inflated. She's becoming quite the diva, full of herself, her biggest fan .. I hope I'm wrong, but I've just heard a couple of 'off' things about her lately :-(

Red said...

Worst speeches were MM & Lupita. He sounds like a backwoods tent preacher & she has crafted her "bio" like the Yale Drama school grad she never lets us forget she is. (Born in MX, grew up in Nairobi, exclusive & expensive private schools.) Hard to believe she "suffered" in Africa because her skin is "dark". At 31, she ain't no child & her backstory is as much a PR product as a few others, like Salma Hayak.
Yes, she played her first movie role well but any better than Naomie, Kerry, Sanaa, Thandie, or Zoe would have? NO. I don't think so. If these other actresses weren't "black" enough, they could have gone to Hawaii for a week to get tanned.
