Judge In Casey Anthony Case Thinks Caylee Killed By Casey By Accident

Casey Anthony was "more than likely" the person who used too much chloroform that killed her 2-year-old daughter, the former judge who presided over the case told HLN on Thursday.

Belvin Perry, a retired Florida judge who is now an attorney, told HLN's "On The Story" that he thinks the death of Caylee Anthony was the result of someone overdosing the child with chloroform, which is banned in the United States as an anesthetic. "It's quite evident that whoever did this, and more than likely it may have been Casey, used too much (chloroform)," he said, pointing to high levels of the chemical in the trunk of her car.
But he said he thinks the absence of evidence of abuse leads to the conclusion that Caylee's death in 2008 was "purely accidental."

During Anthony's trial, covered by media from around the world, prosecutors alleged she killed Caylee by using chloroform and covering her nose and mouth with duct tape, and that she put her body in the trunk of her car before dumping it in the woods.
The defense said Caylee drowned in the Anthony family pool on June 16, 2008, and that Casey Anthony and her father, George, covered up the death.
On July 5, 2011, a jury found Anthony not guilty of first-degree murder, aggravated child abuse and aggravated manslaughter of a child, while convicting her of four counts of providing false information to law enforcement. Two of the convictions were later overturned on appeal.
The former judge said he found Anthony to have two different personas in court. One was for the 12 people deciding her fate.

"Casey in the presence of the jury was very calm, very easygoing, mild-mannered, in a very sympathetic-appearing person," he said.
When the jury wasn't in the room, she was very different. "She was quite in charge, quite demanding and quite manipulative," he said.
Belvin did not fault the jury for its decisions.

"The jury did what the jury did and there are various views as to how this evidence could be perceived," he said. Belvin said there was evidence for a first-degree murder conviction, but it depended on perspective. Looked at through different lenses, he said, the evidence also supported a conviction for second-degree murder or for manslaughter. Or jurors could have said they didn't know what happened.

Lee Anthony Gets Back At Casey Anthony

Lee Anthony was on the stand yesterday and I don't think he particularly cared for the allegations Casey Anthony has previously made where he sexually abused his sister. During his testimony, Lee said he always tried to talk to Casey and to find out where Caylee was and would go on MySpace and Facebook to look for her. A pause here for a second. MySpace is this website that used to be popular back in the day and now has basically joined the ranks of Friendster. You don't think Facebook will be there someday? Twitter? Think they are going to be around forever?

Anyway, Lee also made himself look more important to the case than he probably is because he says he confronted Casey at the family home about a month after first trying to contact her. First thing he noticed? He says he walked by her car in the garage and said the smell was very potent and very strong. Really? Is the theory that Casey kept Caylee in the trunk for a month? Yes, then the smell would have knocked over anyone which is why I don't believe he smelled anything. He just wants to throw Casey as far under the bus as he can and keep running her over until she can't move. The problem with all of this is that the jury might know he is exaggerating or not being entirely truthful and the next thing you know, doubt starts to creep into their heads and Casey walks.

Caylee Anthony's Grandparents Still Haven't Seen The Light

In a deposition Thursday, both of Caylee Anthony's grandparents were asked about Casey Anthony and whether they thought she had anything to do with the death of Caylee. If you want to read a lot of the quotes from the deposition, you can click here. But the gist of it is that Caylee's grandfather still buys the story that Casey was kidnapped and killed by the nanny.

Meanwhile, grandma says that while Casey sometimes lies, she thinks she is doing it now to protect Caylee and the rest of the family. What does that mean? I will tell you what it means. I still don't believe that grandma and grandpa didn't know what was going on or what went on. They would have to be the densest people on earth. Of course, the fact they still believe the nanny did it kind of makes it seem they really are that dense.

What Do You Think?

The NY Post is reporting today that Lou Pearlman is teaming up with Real World creator Jonathon Murray to pitch a new reality show which would be like Making The Band but with Lou offering advice over the phone instead of in person. While I personally think Lou is one of the most evil people to ever set foot on the planet and wish he would just rot in his tiny jail cell for his entire 25 year sentence, I also realize that there are a lot of people who are barely making ends meet because he stole $300 million of their hard earned dollars. Lou wouldn't get to keep any of the money he earns from the show because every dollar he would make would go to those people from whom he stole.

So far, Lou has not repaid any money to the investors he defrauded. This would at least give them the chance to get some money back. On the other hand, Lou gets his sentence reduced by a month for every million dollars that he repays and I really don't want to see this guy set free ever again, or become a celebrity or listen to a bunch of interviews with him where he says that he is just trying to help his victims. I don't think he is actually doing it for them. I think he is doing it for himself, but at the same time, I do want the people he defrauded to have a chance in getting back some of their money so I guess he should get a chance to do the show.

Oh, you want to know the kicker? The band the show is about is called Biteboy. They tried to become famous by writing a song about the Caylee Anthony case. So, you have a band that tried to exploit a murder for fame and money and an a-hole who screwed over thousands of people to line his own pockets. Nice combination.

So. What do you think? Let him do the show or let him rot in his cell?

That's Messed Up

I know that for most of you, if you are interested in reading or hearing about Caylee Anthony and her case that you probably just watch Nancy Grace get riled up about it and then you get riled up and that's just fine. I don't really pay attention to the case other than reading some article if it pops up in front of me or something. Such was the case this morning when I was reading about the details of some court documents that were released yesterday.

According to the documents, Caylee was found in a laundry bag. She had a Winnie The Pooh Blanket, several iron on letters, and a toy horse with her. If that is not enough to break your heart right there, it seems that the duct tape which was used to bind Caylee had a heart shaped sticker placed on it. This whole thing is sick, but the heart on the duct tape thing is just beyond disturbing.

As I said before I don't watch coverage of this story because I just can't watch it and then not go into some terrible depression. But, because I don't watch the coverage and I am ignorant about it, I would like to know from those who do, whether they have ruled out the guy who kept calling the police to report something suspicious. I have just been really suspicious of that guy from day one. He is kind of like the arsonist who calls it in to the fire department and then watches the fireman put out the fire he started.

Now, that's not to say that Caylee's mom is not the worst mother in the world, because she is. And I think Caylee's grandparents are pretty much the worst grandparents in the world and should probably be locked up for something. So, was it Caylee's mom alone? Was it Caylee and this guy who saw something suspicious? Just him? I don't understand the need for duct tape if it was Caylee's mom. The hear thing is going to give me nightmares because that is the sickest damn thing ever.

Caylee's Body Found

I know this isn't really gossip but lots of people I know discuss this little girl endlessly, so I thought I would at least pass the news along. The Orange County Sheriff said that the remains of a small child were found this morning. They are not saying it is Caylee, but how many small little girl skeletons are there? Plus the skeleton was found about a half a mile from her grandparent;s house.

Caylee went missing back in June. Her mother was charged with murder after waiting five weeks to report her daughter missing. Apparently she didn't think anyone would notice. The mom's name is Casey Anthony. Casey has always said she left her daughter with the baby sitter and the baby sitter took her. The problem with that story is that the apartment she says she dropped Caylee of at had been vacant for four months.

I wish the girl had been found alive, but at least she was found so hopefully something can be done to bring her killer to justice.
