Griffin O'Neal Gets 16 Months In Prison

Last August, Griffin O'Neal claims he broke what was 5 years of sobriety when he drunkenly crashed his car into another vehicle which injured the other driver. He was arrested and charged with a bunch of things but only ended up pleading guilty to two felony charges. One was felony drinking and the other was possessing a firearm which, as a convicted felon is a no no. Gone were all the other drug charges and Griffin was stopped with enough drugs and prescription medications to help Lindsay Lohan through a couple of weeks of her life. Griffin missed the original sentencing hearing last month because he was in rehab. 16 months in jail. Too bad for him it happened in San Diego. If it had been Los Angeles and he was sentenced on Friday he would probably already be home with sentence served.

How Did I Miss This?

Look, I understand I miss things sometimes. There is lots of gossip and lots of sources and outlets plus everything everyone tells me and sometimes you can overlook things, but I have no idea how I missed Griffin O'Neal being pulled over by cops after an accident and finding him loaded up with every drug imaginable and carrying a weapon. How did I miss it? Did I have a tequila blackout? It happened the same day as Redmond O'Neal's most recent arrest. I remember that one and remember writing about it, but not Griffin. Apparently Griffin told the police he was rushing from San Diego to Los Angeles because Redmond got arrested.

Griffin was in a head on crash with another driver who is lucky to be alive. Griffin faces six charges, most of them felonies. That is crazy. What is even crazier is the guy was on meth, coke, Xanax and pot. His body must not have known if it was up or down. That is a crazy combination. Half of you wants to sleep and the other half thinks you need to go a million miles an hour. Not sure why he needed a gun either. Anyway, both kids were in court yesterday. Ryan must have been so proud. Probably trying to figure out if he can get them on Celebrity Rehab together. Kind of like a package deal and keep the money for himself.

Did you watch Larry King last night? Larry had Griffin O'Neal on and he actually did not go as far as I thought he would against his dad. I really thought everything would be trashing him, but he seems to have just moved on with his life in regards to his dad. I guess that happens when your ad hits your 8 1/2 month pregnant girlfriend with a fireplace poker right after he stabs you with it.

Caller to "Larry King Live": I want to ask Mr. Griffin if he is worried about any relationship that is left over with his dad, that if there will be a relationship.

O'Neal: I can honestly say my dad has not called me once. He has shown zero remorse for the 22 stitches he put in my wife's face. And he showed very little remorse for trying to shoot me in the face. I'm having a hard time thinking there is going to be some reconciliation.

I am linking to the transcript for you and from time to time during the day you should read it. It is really fascinating stuff. You can tell that Griffin seems like a decent guy who watches over his family while at the same time seems to have a lot less anger towards his dad than I would.

He seems to save most of his anger for Alana Stewart which is fine with me since I don't like her anyway.

King: You are also angry about Alana Stewart [Farrah's friend], too?

O'Neal: I don't trust her. She was selling Farrah's stuff on eBay the day Farrah died. Trust me, I know who she sells through on eBay. I am disgusted with those people. I thought they were exploiting her. I think that they will continue to exploit her through the "Farrah Story II" and Alana's new book.

I'm Confused

I confuse easily. I know this, and I appreciate all of you always helping me out. So, this week Griffin O'Neal decided he needed to get a little attention and so he talked to People. Not people as in everyday people, but People as in the magazine I like to refer to as Kneepads.

Anyway, Griffin said that he doesn't speak to his dad, and has not for a very long time but still wanted to talk to the magazine anyway and if they had a few bucks to pony up, that would be great. Griffin said his family is screwed up and if you want to be normal you have to get out. As in nothing to do with them. Otherwise you will be messed up. And where is Griffin now? Glad you asked. He lives with his sister Tatum. Yeah, and last I checked she was family.

Griffin says he is two years sober now so I guess when Tatum went out a couple of months ago to score, that's the reason she left him at home. Griffin does actually have some personal drama and is suffering from a rare bone disease which may result in the amputation of his left leg.

"It's horribly painful. It's off the scale on the pain."

Well, if he is sober even with all that pain and possible loss of limb, that is pretty damn impressive. I don't know if I could do it. I'm not saying he is doing it either. I'm saying if he's doing it, then it is impressive.
