No More Dirty Jobs

Apparently Mike Rowe has worked every dirty job known to man because the show is ending. Earlier this week Discovery announced that American Chopper was ending after a decade and now Dirty Jobs is gone after 8 years. Discovery plans on focusing on things that matter to Americans like toddler pageants, interventions and theorizing that Caylee Anthony was killed by aliens. "A few weeks ago, I was officially informed that Dirty Jobs had entered into a new phase." Mike wrote. "One I like to call, 'permanent hiatus.' Or in the more popular industry vernacular, canceled. 'Dirty Jobs' is a very personal show, and it's difficult for me to imagine a future that does not involve exploding toilets, venomous snakes, misadventures in animal husbandry and feces from every species."

Mike will be missed, but I suppose he will still have his Ford commercials and if things get really rough, he can always head back to QVC.

QVC Host Keeps Selling As Other Host Faints

When you are a QVC host, the most important thing in your life is to keep selling. It is how you keep your job and are not fired and forced to find some work that actually involves you doing something. Of course, if you do get fired, you could always end up like Mike Rowe. Do something besides selling jewelry on 36 easy payments of $1.99 each. Anyway, while selling Android tabs for kids, QVC guest host Cassie Slane, passed out. Right there on camera. Instead of being concerned for her or possibly making the screen go dark for a couple of minutes, host Dan Hughes just kept on selling.

Mike Rowe Reads Tiger Sext Messages

Pop Eater had a brilliant idea. They had Mike Rowe in their office when he was doing press for Dirty Jobs. While he was there they took advantage of his great voice over voice to read some of the more dirty Tiger Woods text messages. Love it.

Random Photos Part Two

Mike Rowe in a suit. I could probably stop here for the day and make all of you happy.
But, no, I also give you Dalmatians. I love them but they are the most hyper dogs ever.
Peaches Geldof and Eli Roth emerging from his place. Probably discussing etchings. Or how to get to Clear.
Just when you thought American Chopper was over, then it isn't. TLC is bringing back the show next season because they have nothing else to show. Considering how much they ripped off A&E's schedule I figured they would just get another from them.
Supposedly an engagement announcement is coming in June with a wedding in November.
I'm not sure why I would buy Alex McCord's book, although she does say she drank champagne while pregnant.
Also at a book signing, and one I would own is Mario Batali signing his new one.
The quality of this picture is so bad it reminds me of when people would try to take pictures of the television while MTV was playing videos.
So, Selena Gomez was in London doing something for Disney related to Waverly Place. Very family friendly. I mean
people brought families and there were lots of kids, including
this family. Then though, the guy, Goldie, in the middle here, with his kids present, did this:
Not appropriate at all. I'm sure your kids will grow up to be just as classy.

Justin Bieber On QVC - A Chance For A Mike Rowe Moment

Most performers and entertainers wait until they can't sell their records the regular route before hitting a shopping channel. Usually people at the top of the entertainment food chain don't usually go selling to home shopping channels. The reason? Well, it kind of diminishes their brand. That's why you you see people like Diddily Piddily selling there. He isn't worried about his brand, only making money. Justin Bieber on the other hand seems to have done pretty well for himself without the need to go on QVC. That being said he has gone on there and last night performed songs from his new CD and QVC also had a very special offer for all the 14 year old girls who were "borrowing" their parent's credit card to buy it. They got a free bonus DVD. I know, I know, it's crazy. Anyway, I'm sure Justin will be back in a few years when his voice has changed and he has been ravaged by a merciless record company and he is bankrupt and is going a new route and trying to relive his glory days right back on QVC while he chain smokes and hits on the hosts. That is the kind of person I like to see on QVC. Not some kid who is barely out of puberty.

Anyway, all QVC stories come with a complimentary, Mike Rowe moment. You really can never have enough of those. Today we have Mike Rowe selling Dickies and in the second video selling cherubs.

A Mike Rowe QVC Moment

Writing about Captain Phil and Deadliest Catch make me think about the narrator for the show, Mike Rowe. Of course whenever I think about Mike Rowe I think about his time on QVC. So, with that in mind here is another installment in my infrequent series of Mike Rowe's best moments on QVC. At some point you would think the idiots would compile a best of and sell the DVD on their network.

HSN Host Goes Crazy With A Wii

When you are on national television selling a product you really want to make sure you know how to use said product. This HSN host was trying to show the world how to play tennis on a Wii, but didn't have the racket latched correctly.

Talking about home shopping hosts brings up fond memories of the best shopping host of all time. Mike Rowe. In my very intermittent feature, here is a classic Mike Rowe video from his time on QVC. In this installment, Mike sells Precious Moments figurines.

Mike Rowe

Never let it be said that I can't follow along docilely sometimes. I noticed how much everyone seemed to enjoy the thought of spending some time with Mike Rowe yesterday and so as a public service I am providing you with some videos and photos to make your day more special and fast moving. Although Mike looked familiar, I couldn't place him until I did a little YouTube search and then realized I bought some crap from this guy when he was a host on QVC. I remember the big QVC scandal of some host getting together with another female host but I can't remember if Mike was one of them and my energy was directed to videos and photos. I remember that the female host was someone I couldn't stand. I also remember that I spent way to much time looking at that channel when it first went on the air.

When you are watching some of these videos from QVC, I want you to stop and think about this for a second. QVC is a 24 hour shopping channel. Nothing more. Yet, despite this fact, someone took the time 16 years ago to tape the channel. Where do you think these videos came from? Someone probably turned on their recorder while they slept and then watched them during the morning. They then kept them for a decade until YouTube showed up, transferred them to a suitable format and then uploaded them. Someone loved them some Diamonique.
