She Was 15 When They Had Sex
What is the deal with the age of 15 this week? That sentence sounds just like the beginning of any of Jerry Seinfeld's jokes, and for that I'm sorry. I'm ashamed actually. It won't happen again. But Miley Cyrus is 15, Bobbi Kristina is 15, and Mindy McCready was 15 when she started allegedly getting raped by Roger Clemens. Mindy McCready's mom confirmed the fact that her daughter had a ten year affair with Roger Clemens and that it started when Mindy was 15 and Roger 28. If true, that would have put Roger Clemens in jail for a very long time while at the height of his major league career.
According to Mindy's mom, Mindy liked Roger, but wasn't in love with him. Mindy just enjoyed the trips and cash and baseball games. Roger even came over to Mindy's house once to have breakfast with Mindy and her mom. Well, I'm sure he had to drop her off. She probably wasn't even old enough to get a driver's license.
I don't understand this obsession with guys in their late 20's or 30 liking girls who are 15-18. Yes, I'm talking about you also Milo. It just is so wrong and it must be some type of control issue at best and some type of sick pedophilia issue at worst. Here is a guy who at the time it started was making $10 million a year and married with two kids and could basically buy and hooker he wanted. I'm sure there were plenty of women in their early 20's who looked younger who would have thrown themselves at him. Instead he finds a 15 year old girl to have an affair with.
Oh, and while he's allegedly raping Mindy, he is f**king another woman who also happened to be married. Reports are coming out today that Roger Clemens was having sex with Paulette Daly at the same time he was having sex with Mindy and presumably having sex with his steroid injecting wife. Paulette happened to be married to Roger's good friend John Daly.

Clemens has been over for a long time. I don't feel sorry for him, that obnoxious bully brought it on himself.
Anon, he took advantage of a little girl, but rape is forcing yourself on someone, and it sure doesn't sound like he did that.
no anon i'm not there is a big fuckin difference between nonconsensual sex ie. rape and statutory rape that sounds consensual. i'm not saying it's right but saying he raped her repeatedly is a bit harsh when it paints a very different picture of what was going on.
I agree, Jax. At 15 you are old enough to make that decision. And even if she was coerced into the situation somehow, she choose to continue being around him. That isn't rape.
The term "statutory rape" applies in this situation, because it refers to the legal age of consent.
However, I agree with jax and Twisted. "Statutory" rape can be consensual, just not legal. Rape, in its non-statutory form, is assault. It is, by definition, non-consensual, and has little to do with sex and everything to do with power, control, pain and violence.
Sure, this girl was star-struck, and perhaps was talked into starting something sexual, but I don't think so. She graduated from high school when she was 16, so she wasn't dumb. She took him home to mom, so she didn't feel like she or he was doing anything wrong, and the relationship lasted ten years. I think she knew what she was doing.
Calling that rape is an insult to all the women who have actually been raped.

Didn't the mom say the sexual part of the relationship didn't start until after Mindy's engagement to Dean Cain ended or did I miss an update somewhere? Not that I buy it, but Mindy's mom did at least try to spin it out of the underaged sex/statutory rape category.

Rape of a child can not be consensual. And a 15 year old is a child. Mindy is in no way at fault, her mother and Clemens should be brought up on charges if this is true.
Parents need to stop pimping out their children.
a 15 year old is not old enough to consent to sex with an adult. she may not have been held down and physically assaulted, but she was raped. she was emotionally assaulted. she was "the other woman" before she was a woman. any man of 28 who penetrates a 15 year old is raping them. she didn't need to be physically restrained, but she was emotionally.
Sorry, rape is rape. There is no such thing as consensual sex with a minor because the law doesn't recognise that they can give consent.
Many jurisdictions around the world (ie Australia where I am) don't even acknowledge statutory rape.

While Clemens may be a lying sack of shit with poor morals and judgement it does not lump him in the same damn catergory as a sexual predator who jumps out of the f*ckin bushes.
sorry but as a women it makes me somewhat uneasy at hearing how a 15 year old in a consensual relationship was being raped. there was no violence, no threats just some seriously bad judement on all parts. if anything he took advantage but rape? you cant rape the willing. IMO

i'm kinda with jax on this one. i had a huge crush on the guy down the street when i was 14. it just so happened he was 24 and a bit of a dork. nothing ever happened, other than mutual flirting, but at the time i felt like i wanted to date him. i knew the mechanics of sex, but not the actualities (is that even a word?) involved. and of course this was mid-70's and in georgia, when i think things were different. i know of at least one girl who got married in jr. high, and it seemed an awful lot were putting out in high school.
i guess that hasn't changed, though.
some of you people live in a "pleasantville" state of mind. a 15-year old is not a child. a 15 yr old today is like a 21 yr old a few years ago. if you don't think a 15 yr old can consent to have sex, then you need to look around at the mall and high schools. these girls are not "snow white". they dress and act like adults.
