Well I Could Have Told You He Loves Nuts

So all week long there was story after story about how the police in Oakland, Ontario had pulled over David Lee Roth for speeding, only to find that he was about to die from an allergic reaction to some nuts he ate. The policemen rushed him to a hospital and saved his life. The world was focused on how they saved a legend.

The thing is, none of it is true. David Lee Roth hasn't even been in Ontario this year. He did spend three days in Quebec earlier in the month, but never got behind the wheel of a car, and said that he never drives when he is on tour.

Oh, and he said the only thing he is allergic to is criticism. No food allergies. So, then who in the hell did the police stop in Oakland? Is there actually a constable in Ontario named Chris Thompson who was interviewed by local media and who passed along the story.

Here is what Constable Chris had to say about the stranger: "The guy stuck out like a sore thumb. He was wearing a little silk scarf and flashy clothing - it's not something you see in Oakland too often."

Maybe it was Sammy Hagar. It makes sense, because as you know, he can't drive 55.

I don't understand what Quebec has to do with anything? Little help here...

Sue Ellen, Quebec and Ontario are pretty far apart, and are different provinces which are next to each other. I wouldn't read much more into it.

Question of my own: Is DLR ito guys? If so, since when?

Lisa,

What do you mean the provinces of Quebec and Ontario are pretty far apart, but are next to each other? They are next to each other, but pretty far apart. You lost me. Dave played in Quebec City. I live in Toronto, am not familiar with Oakland, Ontario. Never heard of it. Of course, that doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

I've read many times he has switched teams.

i'm thinking it was Oakville they were trying to refer to.

Good point, Jax. Probably was Oakville. And hey, how do you know about Oakville, you vancouverite?

Why the hell would DLR be in Oakville? I am in Toronto too and for some reason I don't see him tooling around Oakville. He wasn't even in Toronto recently. I think this story is false. PLus I heard it was Oakland California on the radio yesterday. Frankly, I;ve heard about(and talked about) this too much already!

That last line completely made my day. I'm at work, so it doesn't take much.

Good article in the Toronto Star about this. The David Lee Roth impersonator looks/sounds a lot like him and has played the part to the hilt for THREE WEEKS in that town. Including crashing at a sound engineer's place and doing a bit of recording, jamming in bars. Read it, it's hilarious.
