No idea. Although I'm not a fan of Scientology, that's pretty messed up on the model agency's behalf.

Maybe she was proselytizing and infringing on other people's rights. Everyone has a right to practice their religion, but if someone is trying to convert people aggressively in the workplace, that's absolutely grounds for firing.
I worked at a magazine and a few of the people there got involved in The Forum (Landmark Education) and were really putting the pressure on their underlings to join. A couple of people did, just to keep their jobs. It was FUCKED UP.
That's not right, either, you know.
How long has Bijou been a scientologist? I thought it had been a long time but maybe it just feels like forever. This blind makes it sound like she just joined. Can't stand scientology but don't agree with firing someone because of it.
This blind irritates me because it presupposes the important question is "who?" rather than "is this why this person was fired?"
I tend to go with something like Ayesha's theory.
If the model was fired for BECOMING a Scientologist (and can prove it), that agency is opening themselves up to quite a lawsuit.
It would sound more plausible that she took some sort of action(s) STEMMING from her Scientology views, actions that broke some agency rule.
Then again, the world and rules of the Beautiful People is foreign to me, so who knows.
Bijou is an Alien-Lover but no way in HELL is she a top model.

(She is definitely a top model. If people haven't heard her name, they more than likely have seen her face - especially given all the publicity she had when she hit the scene. Also she is one of the regular handful of walkers for most of the top designers).

Hm. Isn't it Scientology that gets you "in"? Second question: Couldn't she sue them if that were the reason they dismissed her?

My sister was involved in that Forum crap. They tried to get me to join but I didn't. The funny thing is she told my mom that she was worried I would join a cult in college. Project much?

a modeling agency usually can "let someone go" for no reason because when models sign a contract for that agency to represent them, they are signing off saying that the agency owns their image and they can be let go at any time for any reason if the agency feels they do not want to represnt the model anymore. it's pretty crazy, but it's a way for the agency to protect themselves from being associated with any behaviour or image that they don't want to be linked to. Including, i guess, cults. which scientology is. it is not a religion.
